Sadly, writers have left the group now and then, leaving the writers that remain with us bereft of the development that they were looking forward to with their own characters. However, over time, we have successfully let writer-less characters be inherited by present writers, examples being Selena Ravenholm and Cross, whom are all being actively played today even if the original writers left us. So, this is your chance to step right into present events in the Star Trek: Theurgy story.
Please consider how you, as the new writer of the character, have a creative license to change the way s/he is played. We want you to make the character your own, change things as you see fit, and update details on the character page to your heart's content. They merely have to remain the same person in the broader sense, i.e. in terms of name, race, position, rank and images.
If you would like to inherit an available character, the GM will provide all information about what the characters have been up to so far in the story, as well as potential development for them.

There are certain types of characters that Star Trek: Theurgy currently has in abundance. While we don't want to prohibit them outright and restrict creativity, we do ask writers to avoid the following character types and prioritize other ideas:
Gender
- Women: 60% of the player characters on Theurgy are women. Obviously women are better, and we'll probably beat the Infested faster this way (66% of the GM staff are women), but in terms of equality, this ship needs more men.
Species
- Joined Trills: The number of joined trills is small. According to DS9, there are only 300 symbionts available for joining each year for 1000 applicants, out of an entire Trill population numbering in the billions. Right now, there are 4 joined trill on the Theurgy. Statistically, this is highly unlikely. When creating a trill character, writers should ask themselves why they are choosing a joined vs unjoined trill. What does being joined specifically bring to the character that changes the way they are played in the game?
- Romulans: Romulans in Starfleet are not common. We probably have all the Romulans in Starfleet.

Though there were some cadets unfortunate enough to be onboard the Theurgy during it's original escape from Earth, none of them survived long in the Theurgy's unique and dangerous circumstances. Since the Theurgy is a renegade ship on the run from Starfleet Command, we are not being sent any cadets for educational cruises. Admiral Anderson, our ally inside Command, often sends officers or experienced enlisted personnel that he thinks would benefit the Theurgy's crew. He would never send a cadet.
If the Theurgy picks up a cadet somewhere along the way, we would find a way to send them back to a Starbase, not let them remain onboard.
Cadets are young, untrained, and not prepared for the rigors of the Theurgy's mission. They are a liability that the crew doesn't need or want.
Marines
There are no Starfleet/Federation marines in the Star Trek: Theurgy universe. Military Assault Command Operations (MACO) existed as part of the United Earth military and worked with Starfleet. However, with the founding of the United Federation of Planets, the MACOs were disbanded. There is no marine division in 2381.
Radiants
Radiants are an original species created for the Theurgy universe. Their unique Photokinetic Abilities gave them a unique advantage against the Infested, and the GMs no longer believe this power fits with the overarching plot. Therefore, no new radiant characters will be permitted.
Children
This is an 18+ sim with adult themes. This is not a family friendly ship. There are no children allowed on the Theurgy.
All characters must be adults.
Character Art
Theurgy's resident photoshop wizard recently had to take a step down from the sim. Those of us who remain can make everything except the really difficult species, though we're working on learning!
