The USS Galaxy (NCC-70637) was a 24th century Federation Galaxy class starship operated by Starfleet. She was the prototype of her class. (Source: Memory Alpha)
During the Dominion War, the Galaxy saw action in pivotal battles, including the First Battle of Chin'toka (DS9: "Tears of the Prophets") in 2374 and the Battle of Cardassia in 2375. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")
In 2379, the ship was assigned to Starfleet Battle Group Omega to engage the Reman Warbird Scimitar; but the Scimitar was destroyed by the USS Enterprise-E before the battle group saw action. (Star Trek Nemesis)
Doctor Maya of Vulcan served aboard this ship for almost four years serving as ship’s neurologist before transferring the USS Theurgy in 2380. As of 2381, two former officers of the NX-04 USS Discovery are currently serving aboard the Galaxy.
