Starbase 234

Starbase 234 was a Federation starbase administered by Starfleet. This planetary base was located close to both Klingon and Romulan territory.
In 2367, Petty Officer William Robert O'Connell was assigned to Starbase 237 as part of the base’s starship repair and refit teams.
Following the outbreak of civil war in the Klingon Empire in December of 2367, Starfleet launched a blockade force from Starbase 234 to the Klingon-Romulan border, to prevent Romulan forces covertly supplying the House of Duras. The task force was formed by commandeering all ships in the base's shipyards, along with all ships within one day's travel of the starbase. (TNG: "Redemption II")
One of the ship’s making up this task force was the starship Excalibur. During the mission, William O'Connell was temporarily assigned to the Excalibur where he met Petty Officer First Class Nolak Kalmil for the first time. After the mission was over, Petty Officer O’Connell returned to the starbase.
In early 2368, the USS Enterprise-D was recalled to the starbase from a terraforming mission to Doraf I by Fleet Admiral Brackett on a sensitive matter – the disappearance of Ambassador Spock, and his subsequent discovery on Romulus. (TNG: "Unification I") (Source: Memory Alpha)

Following the controversial executive pardon in May 2381, the USS Theurgy docked at Starbase 234 for repairs and upgrades, its first official Starfleet docking since their flight four months before. This brought with it a whole slew of ups and downs for the crew, in both the official and unofficial capacity, as they struggled to find their footing in this new era for the ship and its crew.
