The USS James Kirk was a Federation Sovereign-class starship serving in Starfleet in the late 2370's.
Commander Marcus Alexander Slayton was assigned to the Kirk as executive officer in 2375 shortly before the Dominion War ended. He served aboard the Kirk in this capacity until the end of 2377.
In 2377 Kirk was one of the first ships to be assigned a Tactical CONN unit. Marcus found the concept of the Tactical CONN interesting, and met all of the new Tac Conn pilots including Ensign Tessa May Lance who would later serve aboard the USS Theurgy.
Tessa May Lance served aboard the James Kirk the year after she graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2377, the same time Christopher Slayton‘s older brother Marcus Alexander Slayton was serving as executive officer.
