USS Discovery (22nd Century)

The USS Discovery (NX-04) was a 22nd century United Earth starship operated by Earth’s Starfleet, the predecessor to the Federation Starfleet serving the United Federation of Planets in the 24th century. The USS Discovery was the fourth of Earth’s NX class starships, commissioned in 2155.
Maya of Vulcan volunteered to be the Discovery’s physician when the Earth/Romulan War started in 2156. During this time she was exposed to human culture and entertainment including movies that she used as models for human behavior in later years. Although the NX-class was designed primarily as a long range science vessel, the USS Discovery participated in several major actions against the Romulans, including the Battle of Cheron in 2160.
The Battle of Cheron ripped a hole in time and space sending the Discovery over two centuries into the future to the year 2372. The damaged and time displaced ship was rescued by the USS Imperator, where Maya met a Lieutenant Jien Ives who was serving in the post of Assistant Counsellor. The survivors recovered from the Discovery had to cope with knowing that everyone they ever knew was gone. Maya and an unknown number of her shipmates who previously served aboard the Discovery enrolled in Starfleet Academy and served in Starfleet in the late 2370's. Two of them were serving aboard the USS Galaxy in 2381.
