Deep Space 3 was a Federation starbase space station that was in service with Starfleet in the 24th century.
In 2354, Amelya Duv was born aboard DS3. Her mother died in childbirth and the girl was raised by he medical officer onboard the station.
In 2369, at the age of fifteen, Amelya Duv left DS3 to enroll in Starfleet Academy.
In 2370, the commanding officer of this station was Vice Admiral Marcus Holt.
In that year, the station hosted the annual palio di Siena, wherein the Ferengi were accused of trying to bribe the Breen pilot into throwing the race.
In that same year, the USS Hera, commanded by Captain Silva La Forge, departed Deep Space 3 on a routine courier mission. For five days, the station was in contact with the starship. After the ship vanished without a trace, Holt recruited the USS Noble and the USS Excelsior for the task of finding the lost Hera. For seventy-two hours, the ships retraced the course of the Hera, without success. Holt planned on having the ships continue the search for another seventy-two hours; however, he did not think the additional time given to the ships would make a difference. (TNG: "Interface")
In 2373, Amelya Duv returned to DS3 for further medical training at the station’s infirmary. She worked together with her foster parent as an ensign and got promoted to Junior Lieutenant after an epidemic. Amelya played a key role in finding the cure and saved hundreds of lives by doing so.
In 2378, Doctor Amelya Duv left the station when she transferred to the USS Harbinger.
(According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on the star chart United Federation of Planets I, Deep Space 3 was located in the Alpha Quadrant.)
