The USS Challenger (NCC-71099) was a 24^th century Federation Galaxy-class starship operated by Starfleet. (Source: Memory Alpha)

Counselor Hayden O'Connor spent a year aboard the USS Challenger assisting Starfleet Criminal Investigative Service's agents afloat before transferring to the USS Discovery.

In 2378, the Challenger was one of several starships which intercepted a Borg sphere that carried the USS Voyager back to the Alpha Quadrant. (VOY: "Endgame")

After the USS Theurgy discovered the conspiracy that compromised Starfleet and fled Federation space, the Challenger was selected to be part of Task Force Archeron and ordered to hunt down and destroy the errant carrier.

In March of 2381 the Challenger was disabled by Lieutenant Commander Carrigan Trent's "Soup Sandwich" virus.
