The USS Imperator was a Federation starship operated by Starfleet in the early 2370’s. It was the first posting of Jien Ives after the Chameloid left Starfleet Intelligence in 2371. In 2372, the USS Imperator discovered a temporal rift and the battered remains of the NX-04 USS Discovery. The survivors of the Earth/Romulan War era ship were rescued including the Discovery’s civilian ship’s doctor, Maya of Vulcan. In 2373, the Imperator was destroyed by the Klingons, who had declared hostilities against the Federation for not supporting their war against the Cardassians.
(So far the class of the Imperator hasn't been revealed, but it is assumed that the USS Imperator was an older starship common to the mid 24th century, such as a Constellation or Miranda class.)
