The USS Benjamin Sisko was a Federation Defiant class starship in service to Starfleet in 2381.
After the USS Theurgy discovered the conspiracy that compromised Starfleet and fled Federation space, the Benjamin Sisko was selected to be part of Task Force Archeron and ordered to hunt down and destroy the errant multivector dreadnought..
In March of 2381 the Benjamin Sisko was disabled by Lieutenant Commander Carrigan Trent's "Soup Sandwich" virus, but a week later had recovered sufficiently to participate in the Battle of Starbase 84.
(The USS Benjamin Sisko was named after the late Captain Benjamin Sisko, the United Federation of Planets' greatest hero of the Dominion War who perished shortly after the war's end. The next Defiant class constructed was named in his honor.)
