The USS Lakota (NCC-42768) was a 24th century Federation Excelsior-class starship operated by Starfleet.

In 2372, the starship suffered a scandal for being involved in Admiral Leyton's attempted coup d'état of the Federation. (DS9: "Homefront") (DS9: "Paradise Lost")

Ensign Kanti MacTavish spent a year aboard the Lakota as a shuttle pilot after graduating from Starfleet Academy in 2379.
