Category:Proxima class starships

The Proxima class was a type of Federation starship first built by Starfleet in the mid-23,^rd, century. They were nicknamed "Longbottoms". At the conclusion of the 23,^rd century Federation-Klingon cold war, the class underwent a refit that added updated nacelles, a weapons pod, as well as two additional forward torpedo launchers to the front of the saucer. The original configuration was discontinued after the refit configuration was introduced, while the refit configuration continued being produced into the early 24^th century. (Memory Beta)
