Starbase 1

Starbase 1 was a large starbase maintained by Starfleet near a planetary body. It was located 100 aus from Earth in the Sol System. During 2257, the starbase was briefly captured by House D'Ghor of the Klingon Empire, but has since been liberated as of the conclusion of the Federation-Klingon war of 2257. The starbase is home to 80,000 Federation personnel, and serves as a forward post of operations on the edge of the Sol System.
In 2373, Iris Cyrene was stationed as a diplomatic attache on the starbase until the outbreak of the Dominion War, in which Iris acted as a liaison between the United Federation of Planets and the Lyssarian Prime Conclave, which ultimately lead to the Conclave making attacks of opportunity on Dominion forces. Iris spent the remaining four years as a diplomat on Starbase 1, but grew bored of her posting there and requested the Conclave transfer her to the USS Cayuga.
