The USS Grissom was a 24th century Federation starship operated by Starfleet.
In 2366, the Grissom was assigned near the Sigma Eridani system and stood by to supply the USS Enterprise-D with additional hytritium during the latter's mission to Beta Agni II. (TNG: "The Most Toys")
The Grissom saw action during the Dominion War and was destroyed in 2375 at the Battle of Ricktor Prime, with a loss of all but six of a wartime crew of 1,250. Lieutenant Chu'lak was one of the survivors. (DS9: "Field of Fire") Those six survivors were recovered due to the sacrifices of the USS Resolve.
(According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (3rd ed., p. 179), the Grissom was an Excelsior-class starship with the registry NCC-42857. The 24th century USS Grissom should not be confused with the Oberth class USS Grissom (NCC-638), that was destroyed in 2285.)
