The USS Ganymede (NCC-80107) was a Federation Luna-class starship in Starfleet service in the late 2370s decade.
History
In the year 2380, the Ganymede was exploring the rimward half of the Gum Nebula near the Orion Arm in the Beta Quadrant, while the USS Titan explored the coreward half. (TTN novel: Orion's Hounds)
The Ganymede and USS Titan were paired off to explore a similar area of the Gum Nebula, but the Ganymede had to return to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards due to damage. The USS Charon replaced the Ganymede on this mission. Unfortunately, the Charon was lost two months later at Orisha. (TTN novels: Sword of Damocles, Over a Torrent Sea)
In February 2381, Admiral Masc reminded Captain William T. Riker of the swap between Ganymede and Charon. (TTN novel: Over a Torrent Sea)
In March 2381, the Ganymede had made it as far back as the Klingon Empire when it received orders to rendezvous with Task Force Archeron to pick up survivors of the Battle of Apertures.
Captain's Skiff
Mounted on the underside of the saucer section, the Captain's Skiff rests in a recessed hatchway just aft of the ventral sensor array. The craft serves in the capacity of a runabout aboard larger ships. In fact, the Skiff's technology and design are based, in large part, on the Danube class runabout.
The Skiff provides a large secondary craft, long-range travel, and the protection, armament, and sensor capabilities beyond that of a standard auxiliary shuttle.
Facilities include two sleeping bunks and a standard runabout passenger cabin. A replicator and flight couches provide for the needs of the passengers and a two-person transporter allows for beaming of personnel or cargo when needed. Atmospheric flight capabilities allow this shuttle type to land on planetary surfaces.
