Loriss
From Star Trek: Theurgy Wiki
Loriss was a female Vorta, a clone serving the Dominion in the 24th and 25th centuries. (STO - The 2800 mission: "Second Wave")
History
Loriss 1
The first Loriss was assigned to interrogate Alpha Quadrant prisoners captured in the Gamma Quadrant. Possessing psionic abilities she took pleasure in her job. She delighted in dissecting the minds of new species.
In 2370, while torturing the USS Odyssey survivors, Loriss fell victim of seeing a Medusan in its natural form. Instead of causing madness and death, her species poor eyesight caused her to experience something unique. She did not go insane and she did not die. Viewing the Medusan had the effect of opening her mind to see past the genetic conditioning of the Founders. Loriss' reverence toward the Founders shifted to the worship of the Medusans. She helped the Medusan and his surviving crewmates escape. As a result of her treachery, the Founders had her executed.
Loriss 2
Loriss 2 was the second version of Loriss. In 2373, she was instrumental in the final development of the Meme Virus, a type of telepathic disease that incorporated a thought pattern that could be placed as a stray thought in the mind of a telepath, and transmitted during various types of intermittent or sustained telepathic contact between two minds. The Dominion had engineered this telepathic disease to disrupt the Federation and other Alpha Quadrant governments as a pre-emptive move to weaken galactic solidarity against them during the buildup to the Dominion War.
Different telepathic races and cultures were affected differently, owing to differing brain structures. Vulcans and telepathic Romulans lost conscious control of their emotional state, maddened to a state of extreme hostility. Betazoid and Human empaths experienced a reversal of their empathic sense, with a shift in polarity causing them to no longer recognize emotional communication correctly. Federation medical researchers came upon the cause for the aberrant behaviors in telepaths by accident.
Loriss 2 planned to unleash the virus on a widespread scale at the Telepath Conference on Alaya II. However, her plot was foiled when the Federation managed to receive help from the Talosians, whose powerful mind broadcasts contacted the entire Federation with a sort of mental inoculation. She escaped by beaming away.
Loriss 3
Loriss 3 was the third version of Loriss. In 2374, the Founders dispatched a fleet of 2800 ships from the Gamma Quadrant to join the Dominion's Alpha Quadrant presence during the Dominion War. Loriss and the Jem'Hadar Kar'ukan were put in charge of the 2800. (STO - The 2800 mission: "Second Wave")
As the fleet traversed the Bajoran wormhole, it was temporally transposed by the Prophets from 2374 to 2409, at the request of Emissary Benjamin Sisko. (DS9 episode: "Sacrifice of Angels"; {STO - The 2800 mission: "Of Bajor")
Loriss 4
It is assumed that the Dominion activated another version of Loriss. However, little data is available to confirm or deny this.
