In 2373, [[Iris Cyrene]] was stationed as a diplomatic attache on the [[starbase]] until the outbreak of the [[Dominion War]], in which Iris acted as a liaison between the [[United Federation of Planets]] and the [[Ryn|Lyssarian Prime Conclave]], which ultimately lead to the [[Ryn|Conclave]] making attacks of opportunity on [[Dominion]] forces. [[Iris Cyrene|Iris]] spent the remaining four years as a diplomat on [[Starbase]] 1, but grew bored of her posting there and requested the [[Ryn|Conclave]] transfer her to the [[USS Cayuga]].
