Kizra Tos was a joined Trill and Starfleet Cadet. Upon her graduation, she was assigned to the USS Theurgy as it returned from an extended mission to Romulus. A few days later, she was among the crew who defected from Starfleet. Injuries sustained to her symbiote during Theurgy’s escape spurred medical officers to place her into stasis until proper treatment could be given.

Biography

Life began as it always did on Trill with two people. Morya Grax met and fell in love with Rogal Sholam. Several years later, Kizra Sholam was born, and she was welcomed into the family with great joy. As their only child, she never had to share her parents with any other siblings and enjoyed the personal attention being an only child afforded.

Both of her parents were noted scientists, though Morya had elected to go into the education field while Rogal continued to research and study the field of Quantum physics. It was no wonder that their child would receive the benefits of two such well educated parents, and from a very early age, the love of math and science were encouraged in Kizra.

She, too, showed an innate aptitude as well as a keen sense of curiosity. Forever digging into the ‘why’s and ‘how’s, her constant barrage of questions, while at times seemingly unending, were none the less met with a sense of enthusiasm by her parents, if sometimes a muted one.

Kizra was placed in the standard general school population, but found herself ill at ease in the environment. Bored to tears, the child generally manifested that in irritating and unwanted behaviours. After two years of struggles, Kizra’s parents elected to find a more challenging environment for her. Thus, she was tested and finally enrolled in a school for advanced children and set upon a course that was heavy in the sciences. Finding herself finally challenged, the behaviours eventually resolved as she found herself far more interested and engaged.

Her secondary schooling was similar - she tested into a special school for the scientifically minded. There she found herself delving further into the mysteries of the universe, and it was also there that she discovered a particular love for Chemistry. The field fascinated her because it allowed a glimpse into the world beyond just what was already formed, but how it had formed. It played a role in everything and touched every aspect of life. From the behaviour of atoms to what elements in the universe shaped and formed planets, stars, life, to digging through the specifics of a strange phenomena, Chemistry opened up the universe to a deeper understanding of it all.

This interest led to her being taken under the wing of Dezrin Tos, a professor at the school, who took a particular interest in the girl. The two became close, and when she indicated an interest in applying as a host, he agreed to sponsor her, and she became one of the youngest Trill to ever apply. The Symbiosis Commission agreed that she was an ideal candidate save for one thing - her age. They indicated that she would be allowed to join with a symbiote, but only after she was a few years older. At the end of her schooling, Kizra graduated the top of her class.

Kizra’s next challenge was Starfleet Academy, a dream she had harboured for many years. Despite her educational achievements, the Academy was known to be extremely challenging, but she was determined to meet it face on. She applied, tested, and was accepted immediately. She found herself studying at the campus on Earth. Two years in, during one of the breaks, she was called back to Trill immediately - Dezrin had taken gravely ill with an incurable disease. Perhaps it was through sheer force of will that the man remained alive until her arrival, for he passed away as they were preparing for the transfer. Kizra Sholam became Kizra Tos and was the sixth host of the symbiote. At times she talked out loud with her symbiote, which sometimes caused some confusion in conversations.

Taking a couple of weeks to mourn and recover, Kizra returned to Starfleet Academy to finish out her final year. Upon her graduation, she discovered she would be assigned to the USS Theurgy which had just returned from an extended engagement at Romulus. Two days after she boarded, the Theurgy went rogue and the young Ensign found herself on one side of a war she never thought she would ever see. Whisked away in the aftermath of the defection, Kizra was uncertain of the veracity of the claims. She had little time to ponder over the matter and consider the implications when an eps exploded and she was impaled with shrapnel. Removal of the shrapnel would have only allowed enough time to save one life or the other. Rather than sacrifice either of them, Kizra Tos was put into stasis until they could properly tend to them both.

Personality Profile

From the very beginning, Kizra proved to be an inquisitive child. With both parents as scientists, it was natural she hold similar interests. She was always willing to search out answers and perseverant in her endeavours. In some ways, she could seem very Vulcan-like as she preferred to be logical, but this was sometimes at odds with her own emotional responses to situations. She was a planner, and though she could be flexible when dealing in a work environment, she preferred structure over all. Something of a perfectionist, she strove to be the best she could be and found herself frustrated with those who fell short of her expectations. She did not like to leave things undone and would push herself to completion, even if it meant overworking herself - and sometimes others. She was particular in cleanliness as well. Her desk, her quarters, everything was always in order and she did not like to get dirty.

Kizra tended to process things internally, to the point where she held it inside until ready to explode. On the other side of her, Kizra was also interested in the arts, particularly painting, something she indulged in during her free time. She also took up archery after first coming to Earth and found a knack for it. Although she never played, Kizra enjoyed watching Plek’et and had fond memories of watching games with her father. Kizra also takes pleasure from reading, not just science, but delves into a wide range of fiction, though she has a certain fondness for historical romance - though she’ll never admit to it without coercion.

Physical Profile

Standing at about 5 feet, 6 inches, slim but not without curves, she had an oval face with a gently squared jaw. Full lips beneath a pleasant up turned nose were coupled with warm eyes that seemed to change from green to hazel to brown depending upon her moods and were off set by long, dark lashes. Brown hair cascaded in waves around her features and could be found worn in different styles, though usually in a ponytail or bun while working.

Special Notes: Previous Hosts

Avaya Tos - Tos’ first host was a woman of great talent and intellect. From an early age, she had shown ability in the arts, particularly in three dimensional artwork involving a wide variety of materials, including clay. Avaya Tos’ works were celebrated throughout all of Trill and were said the encapsulate Trill ideals and wonder in physical form. Thoughtful, somewhat introverted, but sincere, she saw beauty and potential in everything.

Sirxy Tos - Bright, happy, brilliant, and somewhat naive, Sirxy never knew a stranger. She would speak to anyone about anything and enjoyed conversing with others, learning about them. Seeking a life outside of Trill, she joined Starfleet where she specialised in linguistics and became a communications officer. Unfortunately, she was mortally wounded in an accident while visiting home on Trill, requiring the emergency transplant of the Tos host.

Ryvex Tos - Ryvex was a pilot for Starfleet, and the best damned pilot they had, according to himself, though to look at his service record, one might believe that it was true. He graduated at a lower rank in his class not due to lack of ability, but due to the fact that he didn’t try as hard as he should have. Originally, Ryvex was rejected as a host - twice, in fact - but as the humans said, ‘third time’s the charm’ and evidently the symbiote commission finally realised that he was indeed a good candidate.

Brekka Tos - Brekka was a quiet, thoughtful woman who had always found a keen interest in others. Something of an optimist, she enjoyed listening to people an helping them with their problems. This lead her to pursue a counselling degree and become well known Psychologist on Trill. An avid reader, she was also something of a poet, though none of her poems were publicly known until after her death and a family friend compiled them and published them posthumously.

Dezrin Tos - Bold, brash, and unafraid to voice his opinion, Dezrin was never one to back down from a fight, but his weapon of choice were his words. An intelligent man, he delved deeply into the sciences and had planned, like previous hosts before him, to join Starfleet. When several fellow classmates came to him for assistance, he found a deep joy and satisfaction in teach that he had never expected. Instead of applying to Starfleet Academy, he furthered his education, with a focus on the sciences so that he could have a role in imparting the knowledge and wonder to his students. When Kizra Tos came through one of his classes, he found in her an intelligent and capable young woman. When Kizra admitted a desire to become a host, Dezrin encouraged her and even offered to be her sponsor. He guided her through the application process and celebrated when she was accepted as a candidate, though she would have to wait for a few years due to her young age. When Dezrin became ill suddenly, it was Kizra who was chosen to become the new host of the Tos symbiote.
