In 2379, Ensign [[Gideon Drake]] was assigned to the ''Rabin'' to serve as a junior officer in its [[Command, Tactical & CONN|Tactical]] Department were he served until he transferred to the ''[[USS Endeavour]]'' in January of 2381. During this time the ''Rabin'' was tasked with protecting the sector's supply fleet from [[Orion]] pirates and Ensign Drake able to demonstrate surprisingly effective strategy, tactics, and stealth. He was not only was able to thwart some pirate of the pirate raids but also rescue of some of his shipmates and liberate the slaves held by the [[Orion]]s. By the time of his transfer to the ''Endeavour' he was not only promoted to Lieutenant (junior grade) but was inducted into the Grankite Order of Tactics, making him the youngest officer to receive the such a distinction in [[Starfleet]]'s history.
