Day 28 [1900 hrs.] Amend, Emend and Mend Thyself

[ Lieutenant Elro Kobol | Office of the Chief Medical Officer | Deck 11, Main Sickbay | "The Sword" USS Theurgy ] Attn:

With nothing to focus his attention, Elro found himself replaying the conversation with that smug former Chief Medical Officer in the Brig, over and over, back on the 6th day of their stay at Aldea. The Câroon, Elro came to reflect on the exchange in a less emotional state, had points that the Betazoid had to accept and it came to the stage where he had become a jerk.

It suddenly cascaded backwards in time to replaying the times he interacted with most of the crew, socially, Elro had been a cold man but he still believed in candor and honor like his parents and most Betazoids. They were part of the First House of Honesty and Truth before they left Betazed for Earth. He was beginning to recognise that most other species do not appreciate it being thrown in their face like an insult. Even if they know it's the truth.

He recalled the attempts by Derik at various Senior Staff meetings to perhaps trigger some romantic, along with physical, interest between them like back in the Academy. While he recalled those 6 months with the Trill hothead, Elro did have the feeling of fullness, enjoyment and though he had nothing to compare it with, happiness. He may have omitted that fact to Derik upon their breakup, Elro wanted to focus on his career and not to mention that Starfleet could assign them to separate assignments.

The Betazoid could not have taken that kind of distance between them and the uncertainty of ever meeting again or if Derik ever got injured or worse killed in the line of duty. Elro found himself thinking that he’d be utterly devastated as he recalled their romance and how he was protecting his heart. He blinked a few times as he never really saw their break up from Derik’s point of view.

Suddenly he recalled that he had used his never-met-husband/betrothed, the small bouts of feelings from what he will soon find out from his suppressed grief and of course the possibility of assigned distance put upon them by Starfleet Command as a safety net to escape their relationship. He found himself missing Derik because of their relationship, he had to do something about it and soon or he may not be able to once again be with the Trill hothead flyboi for whatever reason. The most prudent to their situation is Derik could be killed before Elro had a chance to tell all he was feeling.

The Parasites and their Nameless Darkness wanting to destroy all life with as much chaos as possible put the Betazoid’s future into a less pleasant and maybe lacking hope and happiness every day. They may never find a way to expose their enemy to the galaxy, even with the Savi’s assistance, that it forced Elro to re-evaluate who he wanted to be in life, what he wanted in life, who he wanted in his life, what life goals he could achieve and could the Theurgy crew get their names cleared along with returning to active service.

Several things Elro decided for sure, he mentally made a list and began to prepare for achieving those things sooner the better. Though he wasn’t directly involved in Hi’Jak’s treatment Elro knew that his medical staff were quite capable without him.
