Episode 02: Cosmic Imperative / Re: Chapter 3: Stand and Deliver [ Day 1 | 1258 ]
Last post by Nesota Kynnovan -
Ensign Jaya Thorne | Bridge | Deck 01 | Vector 1 | USS Theurgy
Attn: @Brutus, @Stegro88, @jreeves1701, @GroundPetrel, @Fife, @trevorvw, @P.C. Haring, @Nolan, @Juzzie, @Eirual, @Ellen Fitz

Jaya looked at the data displayed at the CONN-console in front of her. Her brown eyes took in the readings, which indicated that the Helmet was still in a holding position relative to Chancellor Martok’s flagship, and a distinct look of boredom began to appear on her face. They were at the exact same position that they’d been in last time she checked the data, which was roughly five minutes ago, and the ten minutes before that; the navigational computer made sure to maintain the programmed distance down to the meter.

Attempting to suppress a yawn and half-succeeding, the brown-haired Ensign turned her brown-eyed gaze to her left. Warrant Officer Vasill Nirya was sitting at the OPS-console and, judging by the concentrated look on her face, the red-haired non-commissioned officer was monitoring her long-range scanners while listening to the available communications frequencies to monitor for anything of relevance. In absolute silence, of course. Even the Main Bridge itself was silent, but Jaya knew better than to turn around and look at what the others were doing. Instead, and with a soft sigh, Jaya turned her attention back to her own console; it featured a display of the ship’s short range navigational sensors which was frequently used to coordinate anomaly avoidance and diversion planning, but even that just showed the various Klingon cruisers at the same distance they had been all this time.

Fighting off the urge to yawn again, Jaya moved her hands over the CONN-console and input one particular command. Outside the ship, the bright light that illuminated the section of the bow which displayed the name USS Theurgy and the registry NX-79854 directly underneath it flashed off and on several times. Contrary to the navigational beacons, these lights were pretty harmless and were mainly used for identification within visual ranges. And, while it took several seconds, a smirk appeared on Jaya’s face when she saw that one of the Klingon cruisers within visual range suddenly flashed one of their visual identification lights as well; she clearly wasn’t the only pilot who was bored of maintaining a holding pattern.

”Ensign Thorne!” A sudden voice right behind her made Jaya nearly jump out of her skin and she inhaled sharply as she spun around in her chair; ready to speak up and explain herself for flashing the visual identification lights. Instead of a superior officer however, she was met with the sight of a black-furred Caitian Chief Petty Officer wearing a red uniform. If Chief Petty Officer Sh’ow was aware that he just caused jump scared Jaya, his black-furred face and deep green eyes failed to show it however. ”I am here to relieve you.” For a brief moment Jaya turned her brown-eyed attention to the chronometer on the lower-right side of the navigation display, surprised that the Chief Petty Officer showed up half an hour earlier than he should have. Under normal circumstances Strawberry Shortcake would relieve her for the next watch, who was (just like Jaya herself) never that much earlier than she really should be, but with Lauren Pierce off to do other things with the other half of the USS Theurgy that task now befell the hulking Caitian Chief Petty Officer and the enlisted personnel assigned to the CONN Department. Never one to question being relieved early however, Jaya just skipped away from behind the console and took her booster seat out of the chair before magnetically reattaching it to the inside of the CONN-console’s support pylon. ”Have fun, Chief. There’s nothing of note to report, just be careful you won’t get too stressed.” A smirk appeared on Jaya’s face as she gave Sh’ow the mandatory briefing for anything of note, but the hulking Caitian only grunted in acknowledgement as he sat down behind the CONN console.

And with that, Ensign Jaya Thorne began to make her way off the bridge to do other things; she had just finished a scale model of an Aurora-class Light Research Cruiser and was looking forward to painting it.

The statuesque Zhen replied with a salacious smile of her own as her hips swayed seeming of their own accord on the spot.  There was a rythm that was perceived in her own mind.  Watching the captivating Shen take a sip of her own drink made the entire visit worthwhile.  It felt natural to bring her body closer to exchange drinks as they watched each other.  If it wasn't a well known fact that this species of Andorian wasn't telepathic, onlookers could be forgiven for thinking the two were reading each other's minds.  It could also be easily deduced what they had in mind with each other as Zark brought her body in closer and stopped Reika from picking up her mug so an arm could snake its way around her waist and pulled the Shen in closer.

Seamlessly, the arm left and then both arms were draped around Reika's shoulders and Zark brought her face in close.  She took a moment look further into Reika's eyes before leaning in to the side of the face where most of the lounge couldn't see and closed her eyes as blue lips got closer to blue skin.

There was the briefest of contact as full lips brushed against high cheek bones before moving closer to the ear and a breathy whisper followed.  "The night is young Reika Sh'Lann and I do enjoy what we're doing here." Zark pulled her head back just far enough so she could see passed the profile of the Shen's nose and there was a crowd that was trying poorly to conceal their watching of the two Andorian women. At one table, a pair of males seemed to be having trouble as they adjusted how they were sitting. "I know what I want to do to you, but is this what you want so early in the night?"  The Zhen pulled back further and smirked as she raised her voice just a touch as the flirtatious smirk never left her face. "After all, there are many others we can share the enjoyment with."

[Ensign XamotZark zh’Ptrell (Ens. Zark) | Cardassia Prime] Attn: @Ellen Fitz

As Enyd walked out of the room to present Ontatt's conditions, Ensign Zark stayed back and kept an eye on the prisoner.  The eye was somewhat figurative as she mostly kept watch out the door to see what sort of deal Enyd was going to work on brokering.  Her focus was distracted when Ontatt spoke. "An absolutely fascinating creature that human." Zark was still sore over her beating and the one she'd just administered, so she turned and glared at the Cardassian.

Ontatt smiled at the blue skinned woman. "Still upset over your treatment?" He inquired in a smarmy tone. "It really is unprofessional of you, it was just business. There was nothing personal in it." He continued in tones of profound indifference. Zark's teeth ground against each other and she crossed her arms under her chest and turned back to the facing the discussion that was on going. "Still, you held up quite well, maybe good enough for a recruit of the Obsidian Order, of course that sort of test is really something elementary for an Order agent, so it's hard to say whether you have the fortitude and intelligence to handle the more challenging tests."

Despite being restrained, the former agent seemed to give a shrug as he looked away as in contemplation. "Perhaps, one day, you won't feel so passionately about everything."  He looked at her once more, dark eyes looking to pierce the blue green ones practically glaring at him before she looked away. "Then maybe you'll actually be able to handle business properly."  He chuckled loudly and it was irritating since Zark had the urge to wipe the smirk off his face with her fist. "Even professionally." Zark whirled on him and closed the distance to grab his collar. "I could professionally re-arrange your face."  If he was surprised at her reaction, he didn't show it as he smirked again.  "An admirable objective Andorian."  He whispered.

Zark's nostrils flared as she stared into his eyes and she felt anger boiling in side her. "You're working hard to get yourself harmed for someone who wants our protection." Ontatt smirked again before seeming to lean back and relax. "Indeed, that is that is the question.  You have potential, and not just for violence."  Zark blinked at this, her confusion starting to grow. "You're testing me? Why?"  His shoulder moved, however minutely. "Occupational hazard.  Good assets are always hard to come by.  You should watch your 'friend' she moves with agendas and plots despite that innocent face.  You'd be wary to get caught up in them."  Ensign Zark blinked again and scrunched his collar tighter, getting ready to shake the meaning of the insinuation out of him.

"Ensign, let him go."  The senior plan clothes called.  Ensign Zark stared into his eyes for a few moments more blowing air out of her lips in disbelief.  Roughly letting go of his clothes, the Andorian stood up and faced everyone.  "So, is there an arrangement for this miscreant?."

Thanks, everyone! My little SF brat is ready to kick ass. She'll kick her own ass.

Fantastic face claim, by the way!!

Thanks! When I first made her (as a retired MARSOC and current bounty hunter in the modern day), she was actually played by Laurie Holden lol which is almost the exact opposite in appearance. But now ~14 years later it's Cote.

[ Lt Cmdr. Jaru “Janus” Rel | Fighter Assault Bay | Deck 16 | Vector 2 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Krajin
[Show/Hide]
“Curiosity,” came the reply, along with a shrug and a rueful smile. “It’s not a test or anything. Everyone who comes through here has a strong, pretty instantaneous preference for one or the other.” Janus had banged his head against Gemini’s Valravn in pure frustration after seeing another two-seater in the fighter bay – and she’d caught him doing it – so he could hardly judge anyone’s reaction. “I try to accommodate. Luckily for you, the only ship I have available is a Valkyrie, so you’ve already been assigned.”

He didn’t bother continuing the conversation about large starship piloting. The Academy Instructors had moved him from conn to tactical fairly quickly, so even if he had been sent to a ship without a fighter component early in his career, Janus still would have spent most of his time with the weapons systems instead of piloting. Besides, he’d veered for fighters for the same reason he hated the Valravn – he preferred to have the whole ship to himself. Less people to worry about that way. They could reminisce or debate at length another time if Atlas wanted, but he wanted to focus on the tacconn department they had now. There was a whole separate conn department tasked with flying the Theurgy, and they weren’t Janus’ problem.

“The deck crew is going to make some alterations to the ship for your height. I’m sure that’s nothing new for you.” As he spoke, Janus turned off the simulated Valravn, leaving only the Valkyrie. Then he looked from the holograms to look up at the Kzinti again. “The measurements for your exosuit were forwarded to us by the Klingons a few days ago. It’s been fabricated and is waiting for you in the locker room.” He’d seen the numbers, but he was still having a hard time believing Winters’ size. Were all Kinzti that big?

“Your jacket says that you’re cleared for the Mark II Valkyrie. We have a training program on board to get you running on the Mark III. It’s made with the transition between the two in mind. We don’t have an official instructor for the Valkyries, but someone from the squadron will give you the crash course. It shouldn’t take you too long. Your flight leader is Lieutenant Valin, but he’s shipping out now and won’t be back for a few days. You’ll have plenty of time to get to know them all once they’re back.” If everything went according to plan, Atlas would be confined to training simulations until that group returned. And if they were forced to fly him anyway… well, that was a contingency plan Janus would keep to himself for the time being.

“That’s my introductory spiel. What am I forgetting?” Janus scratched the back of his head, going through a mental list. “Oh. Don’t be surprised if you’re the target of some welcome pranks from the others. They’re just letting off steam. You can get them back if you’d like. But if you damage a ship or a pilot in any way that fucks up my flight roster, I’ll have you in the brig. Got it?”
