Day 28 [2330 hrs.] Check Under the Hood

[ Lt. Jg Akel Izavid | Vector 03 – Holodeck 8 | USS Theurgy | Aldea
After leaving his escort and dropping off his equipment inside his cabin, Akel left a note for Commander Stark informing her of his arrival and that he would report in ASAP tomorrow and headed to towards an open holodeck.  He booked himself an appointment after getting the needed credentials from the Theurgys’ security computer.

The turbolift ride, transport to vector 3, and they walk down the corridor nearly crippled Akel as he read the emotions of any officer as he passed.  Some were having nice dreams as the sleep, some concentrating on their work, but one thing remained consistent in all the emotions uneasy.  Whatever the Theurgy had been though, it was not pleasant.

Arriving at the Holodeck 8, Akel entered the room and locked the door. He then proceeded to interface his personal PADD with the holodecks control system and began, temporarily, downloading his implant repair program into the system.  Akel had never trusted doctors, and shortly after he had fell into the coma necessitating the implant, he had woken up to only cemented his hatred.  Since the implant would be a permeant addition to his body, after his recover he researched everything regarding it planning on designing a holographic system to replace said doctors and manage anything needed for his implant.

It was only fate during his construction effort he was assigned to work on the artificial intelligence of the Theurgy.  He create several micro versions the programs artificial intelligence matrix to test upgrades without damaging the base system.  One such version made it possible for Akel to create an interactive implant repair program he was currently loading into the Holographic mainframe.

The holodeck blurred as the matrix began to form according to the program’s instructions.  One standard Starfleet bio bed sat in the middle of the room with a doppelgänger of Thea standing beside it. She looked up at Akel and simply asked what needed to be done to the implant.  Akel did the best he could in responding “When boarding this ship, security performed some type of particle scan that disabled what I think was the main inhibitor circuit.  It needs to be repaired or replaced.

He laid, stomach first, on the biobed before continuing, “As always, I have tied your program into the inventory control of the ship, if you need to replicate new parts.  Please just try not to go to overboard.  I really would not like to explain myself on the first day.”

The micro Thea, who Akel called Tia, nodded her head, and created a medical tricorder in her hand.  She proceeded to scan Akel’s implant while whistling a random showtune.  Handing Akels PADD to him to approve the parts, and steps to the repair she waited while whistling the old earth showtune ‘Seize the day’.  Akel couldn’t help but laugh as he approved the materials.  The procedure started and Akel waited patiently for Tia to finish.  About fifteen minutes later, Tia mentioned she was finished and Akel stood up. He knew what would come next and wasn’t disappointed.  First, the emotions of the crew blissfully disappeared; second, Tia looked at him and said ‘you should stop using this program and start going to see a doctor.’  “Maybe when doctors stop being so damn annoying” Akel mentioned before adding “Thank you Tia.  Computer end program and transfer the file added to your mainframe to AKI-P115.”

The biobed and Tia disappeared from the room and Akel was once again as he was accustomed alone.  He rubbed his forehead to dispel the headache collected as emotion tormented him.  Tia was probably correct, and he should visit a doctor for maintaining his implant but he just couldn't bring himself near sickbay.  He began retracing the steps back to his new quarters, he had a lot to do before considering sleep.  Due to his lack of trust for others, he planned to secure all the computing equipment he brought inside his own cabin.  This would not be the first night, and probably not the last, that he would not find sleep.  As he entered the turbolift on his way back to his vector and his cabin he started whistling ‘seize the day’ and he couldn’t help but laugh.  After all, he didn’t remember adding his hobby of showtunes to Tia’s matrix.
