Petty Officer Artimis Saugn was a Teslyliac duplicate created to infiltrate the USS Theurgy and learn the secrets of the disappearance of her kin, Lahkesis Saugn. Though her loyalties remained shrouded, Artimis aided in the opposition against the parasites that compromised Starfleet Command in the end of the 24th century.

Biography

The chain of events that would lead to the creation of Artimis Saugn began when Hera, the first of the Teslyliac Duplicates created by Oleander Saugn detected the death of Lahkesis Saugn through the Prototaxites Stellaviatori mycelial network, through which all Teslyliac are connected to each other, though most are not aware of this bond. Hera, in her damaged state, having lost 65% of her physical body in the same fire that had once scarred Lahkesis and her sisters, was unable to tell the exact details of Lahkesis's ascension and later death.

At the time of Lahkesis's death she was one of the very few, if not the only, Type A Teslyliac duplicates to have formed naturally and thus was something of an oddity. Because of the nature and circumstances of her death Oleander Saugn elected to send a duplicate to investigate the incident, though it was decided to create a new model specifically for the task.

For some time he would work on the exact foundations of her genetic code before at last exposing a fast growing breed of Teslyliac plant to the artificially created genome. After that it was only a matter of waiting to see if the genetic material proved to be what he had hoped for. Within a few short weeks the new duplicate was brought together in a melon like growth on the plant.

When 'ripe' the melon was severed and opened to reveal the duplicate inside. Then came the process of memory implantation and basic training to ensure the memory implant had worked. She cleared all examinations with top marks, which was to be expected given her natural eidetic memory. It would be these implanted memories and specific genetic markers that would create the foundation of her personality. She was developed to be naive and childish in many respects, at least outwardly. She was meant to observe and learn, but also to manipulate and gain trust easily, in order to more easily gather the information she needed. Finally she was programmed to be completely loyal to Oleander Saugn and him alone, though her orders would later include that of following the directions of a yet to be named Rear Admiral.

When she was ready she was given the name Artimis, after the Greek Goddess of the hunt, for that would be her purpose.

During the process of her creation Oleander Saugn began to process of finding a way to get her aboard the Theurgy. A process much harder than getting her onto any other Federation starship. Being as his company, Octavian Corporation was the supplier for the majority of bio-neural gel packs for Starfleet ships, he had some connections which proved quite useful.

His inquiries drew the attention of Rear Admiral Joseph Nerva Anderson, who covertly contacted Oleander before he drew other, unwanted attention. With the coincidence on his side, Oleander Saugn was able to convince the Rear Admiral to allow his latest duplicate to join the group being sent to the Theurgy on the condition that this duplicate would act as an asset to him as well, to which Oleander Saugn agreed with little complaint and allowed a number of secret directives to be hidden in Artimis's memory implants that could be activated should the need arise.

Personality Profile

With a charming smile and social grace of a well mannered child, Artimis, Artie as she likes to be called, comes across as naive and innocent. Most would say there is a neutral urge to shelter and protect her. She enjoys stuffed animals and scary stories, though not too scary. She approaches many things with a sense of awe and wonder, as if experiencing it for the first time, which in many cases is quite true, because as she can explain, there is a world of difference between a memory implant and the real experience. She loves to try new things, but also delights in the comforting things she has done many times over.

Yet much of that is a facade created through strict mental training. There is a cold side to Artimis that she keeps hidden from all. This is the side that would die if ordered to do so by her master. She is loyal enough to do whatever she is ordered to without question. Because of her distance from her master she has been programmed with a number of trigger situations and phrases. If a situation which is similar to one she is programmed to deal with should arise, she would instantly go into a pseudo-trance like state and accomplish her mission, regardless of any threat to her own well being.

Thus her true nature becomes something like a child soldier, she is innocent, yet hides a dark secret. She has no conscious desire to do anyone any harm, yet she knows what she is and knows what she was designed to be capable of. She knows she is a tool to be used and disposed of when the time comes. It is thus that in the moments when she gets to be innocent and childish, that is when she can be truly happy, preferring that version of herself to any other.

Physical Profile

As with all members of her species, Artimis is a plant based life form, her cellular structure having more in common with plants than animals, though her brain and spinal column are distinct in being fungal in nature. This fungus, a genetically augmented variation of the Prototaxites stellaviatori fungus, has connections to the subspace mycelial network discovered in the 2250s, though little practical application was ever found. Oleander Saugn, the creator of many of the currently existing Teslyliac duplicates, discovered that through this connection information could be passed between duplicates, though this has only proven to be one way, from newer duplicates to the oldest of them, Hera. Unlike many before her, Artimis is aware of her subspace connection and endeavors to expand it, though this has not proven effective as of yet.

Unlike many of her kind Artimis is not overly tall, though has a curvy figure none-the-less, as such she has wider than average hip with a full bottom and large full breasts. Her shorter stature emphasizes her hourglass shape and makes her appear curvier than she really is. She has strong legs and toned arms, lean and muscular. She is designed to be able to handle herself in a fight should the need arise.

Though what appears to be hair falls from her head in lush curls, it is in fact a fine filament akin to a petal and not the strands of protein that normally make up animal hair. This fine filaments range in color from a deep purple to a vivid violet, though they can change in hue and intensity depending on her health. In addition she has vivid blue eyes that lack a pupil as the photo-receptor of her eye is on the iris instead of inside the eye itself. The result is she has a wider field of view and can she a wider range of the spectrum of light, though far more limited than man made technology like the VISOR or technology akin to the ocular implant.

Due to her plant like nature she subsists mostly on solar radiation and mineral water, though as a Type C duplicate she is capable of enjoying small meals. These meals are best enjoyed in small portions and should not contain meat as she is incapable of breaking it down lacking any meat digesting enzymes. Planet and mineral based matter is digested almost fully and as a result her lower bowel remains simply a physical redundancy.

As a Type C duplicate she has a number of unique abilities. First and foremost is complete control over her autonomic functions. As such she can hold her breath longer and even chose to stop her heart for extended periods of time with only minimal side effects, though the extent of these abilities is untested and each individual duplicate is different. This also gives her control of her bloom and neurotoxin production. And is thus able to create a potent narcotic and deadly neurotoxin from her body fluids. Because of a unique feature of her design she is able to collect both the neurotoxin and the narcotic into channels under her nails allowing her to scratch someone and get the chemical into their bloodstream that way.
