These are the positions that are vacant and that we feel new applicants should create a characters for. This list will be updated as required.
USS Theurgy
If your character was assigned to the titular USS Theurgy, it is recommended that your character has been in stasis since before Episode 01, and only now could be resuscitated after getting the medical attention he/she needed. Your character would then have been injured during the flight from Earth and Starfleet and put into a stasis pod to preserve his/her life. For other options, see the Joining the Crew page.
Currently, we are looking for low ranking officers in CONN, Security, Tactical, Fighter Bay Operations and - if you are prepared to do some deeper reading to get up to speed with past events in Episode 04 - Tactical CONN fighter pilots. Here is the list:
CONN Officer (Helmsmen & Shuttle Pilots)
This is the ship's helm department, which is in charge of handling all flight operations on and off the ship. This means the Theurgy and all of its support vehicles or any vehicles flying within its vicinity. Instead of the Tactical CONN department flying fighters, the CONN officers operates either of the three Vectors of the Theurgy, the Manta-class auxiliary craft mounted underneath the saucer, and any of the many different shuttles aboard. The Chief CONN Officer would work very closely with the ship's Chief Operations Officer with respect to the use of the ship's shuttle bays, since the Chief Conn Officer was responsible for the pilots flying the shuttles and for training shuttle pilots.
Helmsmen reported to the Asst. Chief CONN Officer and the Chief CONN Officer.
Security Officers
Starfleet Security is the armed force of the fleet. Duties ranged from putting yourself between a phaser and the Commanding Officer of the ship, patrolling the ship for endless hours, and even engaging hostile threats upon uncharted planetoids. A Security Officer had to have an understanding of the scenario and the people involved, knowing the problem s/he was dealing with inside and out. S/he needed to be prepared to use force to neutralize any and every threat, but only use it as a last resort. S/he was protective of the ship and crew, and was required to defend both to their last breath. See also this page for more details: Security.
The Security Officer reports to the Deputy Chief of Security and the Chief of Security.
Tactical Officers
The Tactical Officers are the vessels gunmen. They assist the Chief Tactical Officer by running and maintaining the numerous weapons systems aboard the ship, and analysis and tactical planning are reoccurring tasks. Very often Tactical Officers are also trained in ground combat and small unit tactics, though not to the extent of Security officers.
The Tactical Officer reports to the Chief Tactical Officer.
Fighter Bay Operations Officers (NCO ranks only)
Information about the Fighter Bay Ops crew on the Theurgy can be found here: Fighter Bay Ops. Check the info, and then look below. The available roles are:
- Head of Avionics, Sensors & Computer Systems
- Head of Spaceframe & Structure
- Spacecraft Inspectors
- Landing Signal Warrants
- Weapons Technicians
- Ordnancemen
- Mechanics
All these NCO officers report to the Chief of the Deck and his appointed second-in-command among the deck crews.
Tactical CONN Fighter Pilot (High Difficulty)
OBS: This role is considered high difficulty in terms story entrance, since you as the applying writer would have a lot of reading to do in order to wrap your head around what your character knows and doesn't, not to mention what happened during Episode 04.
You could write one of the fighter pilots that came aboard the Theurgy from the USS Orcus, flying one of the prototype Valravn fighters. The squadron name is the White Wolves, and like the rest of the fighter pilots on the Orcus, your character was a part of the classified Valravn Project on Luna Base (see the Valravn page for more information).
When the USS Theurgy allegedly defected to the Romulans in November of 2380, orders came to Luna Base that the twenty prototype Valravn fighters needed to be put into field duty, since the Theurgy's Mk III Valkyries were better than what the rest of Task Force Archeron had in terms of superiority fighters. So, the White Wolves Squadron ceased to be test pilots and were instead commissioned to the USS Orcus, which was supposed to join Task Force Archeron and hunt down the Theurgy.
In late February of 2381, the USS Orcus found the task force adrift, orbiting Theta Eridani IV without means of communication or propulsion. They had been affected by a computer virus, and it was only with the help of the USS Orcus "clean" software that the entire task force could exit orbit and take up the hunt again. Task Force Archeron immediately set a course towards Starbase 84 - meaning to intercept the Theurgy if Captain Ives had decided to put the advanced Theurgy-class starship of in his Romulan masters' hands.
Your character would enter the story as of the Battle of Starbase 84, where s/he needs to defect to the Theurgy for some reason. This defection should be discussed and settled with the GM, and you will be required to read the outcome of the battle, which can be found here: Episode 04: Simulcast, Chapter 07: Cost of Truth.
In order to write a fighter pilot, you should also familiarise yourself with this page: Tactical CONN. The Tactical CONN officer reports to their Element Leader, Flight Leader and Squadron Commanding Officer (SCO).
USS Cayuga
In Episode 05: Courage is Fear, we have a means for your character to enter the story aboard this ship: the USS Cayuga. See the Joining the Crew page for more info about that, but the vacancies we have aboard her are these:
- Chief Counselor
- Chief Engineer
- Chief of Operations
- Chief Science Officer
- Civilian
USS Endeavour
We also have a means for your character to enter the story aboard this ship: the USS Endeavour. See the Joining the Crew page for more info about that, but the vacancies we have aboard her (before she was destroyed) are these:
- Chief Tactical Officer
- Chief of Operations
- Chief Science Officer
- Civilian
