The USS Discovery (NCC-62049) was a Federation starship of the Nebula-class. Commissioned in 2364. Later, in 2366 the Discovery began the first-leg of an extended-length Exploratory Science mission, originating from Utopia Planitia, and making for a volatile region of space in the Fries-Posnikoff sector, known only as ‘The Maelstrom’.

Andrew Fisher served aboard the Discovery from 2366 to 2368 as a Senior Security Officer, until receiving a promotion and re-assignment.

Hayden O'Connor also spent a year aboard the Discovery after transferring from the USS Challenger.
