USS Apollo

The USS Apollo (NCC-30000) was a 24th century Federation starship operated by Starfleet. It was the prototype of its class. During its long career, the Apollo and others of its class served as transports, assault ships, freighters, and underway replenishment vessels. The Apollo and others of its class were noted for using the annular warp drive of Vulcan design rather than the twin nacelle Cochrane style design used by most Starfleet vessels.
In 2365, Captain Dennis McCarthy was the commanding officer of this ship. In that year, the Apollo was assigned a deep space exploration mission in Sector 002. This starship was listed in the Starship Deploy Status chart that was on display in the courtroom of Starbase 173. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man", okudagram)
In the early 2370’s before the Dominion War started, the Apollo’s duties took the ship to the Federation’s border with the Romulan Empire. Drauc T'Laus and his brother Kraun, fleeing the Romulan Empire due to their persecution as telepaths, surrendered to the USS Apollo when they defected to the United Federation of Planets.
