Thane was an undercover intelligence operative placed on board the USS Theurgy as part of its security complement when it originally launched in 2380. He'd kept a low profile on the ship to blend in better up until the Theurgy fled Earth. He was placed into stasis so his injuries could be treated at a later date. Now released, he was placed into the role of Deputy Chief Intel Director.

Biography

Youth and Early Career

Thane was born on Ferasa Prime on Earth Date August 5th, 2305. He is the second son and fourth child of the Elder of Clan Va’rek. He grew up in a life where everything was provided for him. As a youth, he was educated in the Clan’s own Academy, where he did reasonably well. Being the second son and the fourth in line to potentially lead the Clan in the unlikely event that something happened to his eldest brother and older sisters, Thane was educated in administration, history, and other topics alongside his normal, formal education.

After passing through his primary school as a youth, Thane joined a Military school for his adolescence, where he was trained in everything a youth would need and then some. Thane’s development and career track initially pointed him towards a role in the Ferasan Marines, where he trained as a recon specialist. Thane’s first posting was in 2327 on board a Ferasan Prowler Class patrol ship, where he participated in raids on pirates, smugglers, and the occasional inspection on ships entering Ferasan Space. In 2336 he was transferred to a Starbase as part of its security contingent. In 2340 Thane entered the trials for the Honour Guard. He trained hard and managed to pass the trials with a reasonable margin of comfort. Though he didn’t pass them unscathed as he earned himself a new scar from it.

He spent the next several decades distinguishing himself in the Guard, training, and working on assigned tasks. This was his life, busy, rough, dangerous, and always a chance for something great to happen. It was during this time that Thane along with a few others, would have somewhat semi-regular contact with members of Starfleet, specifically their intelligence division. They would meet, trade information on criminals or other dangerous beings passing through Ferasan or Federation space and then fade away with a few joint ventures in dealing with particularly dangerous sorts. During this time, Thane sired a child, nearly got married which unfortunately fell through and had a fairly interesting rollercoaster of a personal life.

In late 2363 Thane was grievously injured during an operation that cost him his arm and left him hospitalised. Thane received a prosthetic right arm, which replaced the original limb and shoulder joint. He got put on leave and took some time for himself to travel and engage in more leisurely activities and see some of the galaxy from the perspective of a civilian. Six months of travelling outside of Ferasan space, he went through Klingon Space, Federation Space, and experienced little bits here and there. He listened to stories from Starfleet crew members of their time in space, exploring new species and worlds. This appealed to him and so he reached out to one of his connections to see about the process and was informed of the need for a Letter of Recommendation and a few tests. He contacted his clan and cleared it with them, with his status as an Honor Guard being placed as inactive and permitted to join Starfleet.

Early Starfleet Career: (2364 - 2372)

Entry into Starfleet was not easy for Thane. After retrieving a letter of recommendation from one of the commanders in Intel with whom he had a solid relationship. He underwent the Starfleet Entrance exam, passed and found himself entering Starfleet Academy. It was awkward at first for Thane as he had to adapt to such a multicultural organisation with a wide variety of aliens. He was put into a shared room with a young Caitian male by the name of R’Turan. R’Turan, being a far more social sort managed to worm his way past Thane’s frosty, disciplined exterior, and the two became fast friends and even lovers.

Thane did fairly well in the Academy, his past experiences giving him a leg up in discipline, maintaining everything in an orderly fashion and handling his classes and studies. To experience new paths and new growth in his skills, Thane was put on the Operations Track where he could find challenge in a breadth of skills on a starship. Naturally, they nudged him into the role of Security when he graduated in 2368. His first posting was the USS Intrepid while R’turan was stationed as an Engineer on the USS Galileo, a Nebula-class starship. The two have stayed excellent friends ever since. As he studied at the Academy, Thane became fluent in English and studied Klingon and Vulcan.

He spent three years on the Intrepid as an Ensign before Starfleet Intelligence slipped in and roped Thane into an operation or two for them before being officially integrated into Starfleet Intelligence. By 2372 he had been promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and underwent Advanced Tactical Training at the recommendation of his S.I Handler near the end of the year.

Dominion War: (2373-2375)

When the Dominion War kicked off in 2373, Thane was diverted from his role as a Security Officer on the Intrepid and redeployed as an Operative on the ground. He flitted between various sites, infiltrating Dominion or Cardassian facilities to gather intelligence or participate in counter-intelligence operations.

In 2374 Thane earned the Federation Medal of Honour for orchestrating the rescue of Federation and Klingon Personnel from a Dominion Detention camp before they were transferred to a more permanent facility in the Gamma Quadrant. In the process, they stole a Dominion Attack Fighter in their escape and fled back to Federation Territory. This escapade resulted in the rescue of 36 Federation and 22 Klingon personnel and the acquisition of another source of technology to be dissected and studied.

Later in 2375 Thane went into deep cover as a Trader operating in still Dominion-controlled space, gathering intelligence on the Dominion. He was later tasked with infiltrating Dominion Facilities along with other Operatives to prepare for the invasion of Cardassia and then participating in the ground offensive itself by targeting key facilities to assist with ground troops and disabling Dominion facilities.

Post Dominion War: (2376 to Now)

Post-Dominion War, Thane was promoted to Lieutenant and stationed on the Intrepid-class ship USS Eclipse. Here, he participated in various classified operations and funneled information into the Intelligence Network where needed as they patrolled the far reaches of Federation Space.

In October of 2380, Thane was transferred to the USS Theurgy as a Security Officer, working undercover as most Intel agents are. He was injured during the escape when caught by a discharging plasma conduit shorted out his arm. He was placed in suspended animation until they could fix the damage.

Personality Profile

As an officer, Thane displayed a sharp and cunning intellect in the field that was honed from years of training and experience as a Ferasan Marine and Honour Guard. His friends and colleagues would describe him as a man of intense focus with a strength of will to see a task through to the end. While on Duty, he maintained a cool and unflappable exterior, which served him well while under pressure.

Like most Ferasans, he valued loyalty and required that it be earned by those he served under and that he worked to earn it from personnel under his charge. Some have called Thane cold and detached when dealing with difficult situations, willing to take a pragmatic and efficient approach to solving the problem, and had no issue making tough decisions. He’ll never ask someone to perform a task he would not.

Off Duty, Thane is a different person entirely as he has ‘let the hair down’ so to speak. He’s still a calm fellow, but more approachable, personable, and pretty easygoing. During his off-time, Thane could be found in the holodeck enjoying old spy flicks like the 007 series, visiting exotic locales, or indulging in the movie theatre experience. He preferred to cook his own meals when the capability was available over using the replicator and had a tendency to indulge in sweet flavours.

Physical Profile

Thane stood 2 meters tall (6ft 6in) and had a rather muscular frame built on good genes, years of fitness, and a solid training regimen. His fur was a deep purple with lighter tones down his chest, belly, and groin. His mane was short, neat, and spiked slightly with some mild product in it to keep things neat. Overall, Thane’s pelt was clean, soft to the touch, and kept neat to the rigid Ferasan regulation standard. His face carried the painted/dyed markings of his clan in a stark white colour, which stood in contrast to his pale green eyes.

An advanced cybernetic limb replaced his right arm, shoulder, and two ribs after the originals were lost. Functionally, it was the same as the original; synthetic muscle, skin, and fur covered the cybernetic core with razor-sharp metallic, retractable claws embedded in the fingers to replace his originals.

When not on duty, Thane was often found wearing sleeveless shirts, tunics or sleeveless robes and loose-fitting slacks.

Special Notes

Thane was a full Telepath and highly trained in employing his abilities. Thane developed an appreciation for old Federation technology, having at one point acquired the designs of the old MACO Rifle and Phase Pulse pistol. He had since spent his time tinkering with them to bring them up to current known standards. These tools were used when he was on undercover operations as an Intel officer and kept amongst his personal effects. Don’t pull the tail. He bites. He keeps a small stash of Isolinear Chips containing a variety of Holodeck programs, replicator recipes and tools useful for his job.
