CHAPTER 02: SUPPLEMENTAL [ DAY 06 | 0715 HRS. ] REUNION

[ Lieutenant Masuda Yukimura (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Masuda_Yukimura) | Bridge | USS Allegiant NX-80978 ] Attn: All (?)
[Show/Hide]
Seated on the bridge of the Allegiant, Yukimura was about to complete his away mission and report to Captain Stark - his allotted Commanding Officer during the Continuance Protocol.

He had spent the night aboard another Vector of the Theurgy, but he - and those who had been chosen for the away mission - were technically still crewmembers of the Stallion or the Cayuga. Unfortunately, the time was short, for as soon as the reunion took place, they would have to set a course for the third Rendezvous. There was virtually no time to spare in that regard, lest they would be too late. The key, upon immediate arrival, was to make the two Captains that he and Wenn Cinn would meet understand all the stakes involved quickly enough.

As he sat there, in the chair on the Allegiant's bridge, Yukimura thought about what they could expect when they arrived at the Cayuga's coordinates. The ship had been in a poor state before the Asurians attacked, and Masuda could but hope the Iroquois-class was ready for flight. Yet regardless, there were larger concerns...

Had the Stallion tried to make it to the second Rendezvous? One thing was certain, the worst case scenario was that the Stallion had already left in order to reach the third Rendezvous, which was entirely possible since time was running far too short. While the officers on the bridge were likely trying to reach through the Nebula with comms to stop the Stallion, it was Impossible to know what they might arrive to.

As far as the Allegiant went, the decision had been made to leave the Fighter Assault Bay two hours before the ETA, since the scoutship could sustain Warp 8 for that amount of time, and thus free up fighter operations on the Sword before arrival. Moreover, the Allegiant would be able to dock as it should with the Stallion. In Yukimura's opinion, there wasn't even time for a physical meeting between the Commanding Officers. Such was the haste required, and even then, it wasn't certain that they would make it in time.

Within the next minute, they would return where they had left the morning before, and Masuda got on his feet.

"Dropping out of warp, sir. We're there," said Mektari Dumral, the Cardassian at the helm of the Allegiant, and just like that, the anticipated moment had arrived. Masuda glanced towards the gathered Allegiant crew, this mix of Theurgy and Cayuga officers, and in retrospect even Six - whom he'd had his doubts about - had preformed admirably. They were all on the bridge now, hoping - like all those on the Theurgy - that the Stallion would still be there, as well as the Cayuga.

So, the ship dropped to sublight speed.

And after so many setbacks, with the Klingons, the missed Rendezvous, the imminent threat of the Borg, and so many injured or dead... Finally, something fell out favourably.

For right there, waited both the starships. The only apparent sign that the Stallion was about to leave was that there were no repair shuttles out there. Better yet, it appeared that the Cayuga had power somewhat restored, it's viewports showing more pinpricks of light, and it's warp nacelles alight. It was such an immense relief to see, that Masuda smiled, and joined the elation felt by the present officers. The next moment, the Sword dropped out of warp right next to them, it's damaged hull no longer showing plasma fires, but the toll of the battle against the Rotarran quite apparent. Seeing the sword was a reminder. Time was of the essence.

"This is the Allegiant," he said, after requesting a hail to the Stallion. "Requesting permission to dock. Urgent: Please make sure to establish communication with Captain Wenn on the Sword as soon as possible, and patch the Cayuga in as well."

Upon word received, the Allegiant sped towards the ventral side of the Stallion, to dock, and the away mission would - essentially - be over. Masuda had his report ready, and Captains Stark and Siegler would have plenty of time to take part in what they had learned about the Borg... as soon as they were on the way to the third Rendezvous.

OOC: The result of the IC discussion in this thread, should be that the Cayuga sets a course towards the apertures in the heart of the Azure Nebula, to try and prevent the Borg invasion (together with the Klingon forces, who doesn't know the Cayuga's affiliation with the Theurgy lest mistakes are made in that regard.) Meanwhile the Sword and the Stallion should reintegrate under the command of Captain Wenn - since he has held his rank of Lt. Commander for a longer time.

The crucial quirk of this situation, is the haste upon which the ships part in different directions. This haste, is paramount to prevent officers that you OOC want to end up on the Theurgy, but IC would rather be on the Cayuga. I can't stress the importance of this enough. If your characters are to end up on the titular ship of this story, now is the time. This goes for both the Cayuga officers and the Endeavour officers. I leave it to everyone to come up with viable explanations or situations that make your characters end up on the Theurgy. Sickbay is a viable option, since sickbay is destroyed on the Cayuga. It could be that officers on the Cayuga just happens to be on the Theurgy, perhaps still alseep, or whatever you come up with. The secondary option, to have your character end up on the Cayuga instead, will make it difficult for a natural transfer to the Theurgy later on. It can be done, but that would be very circumstantial and a lot is still uncertain about the story progression in the end.

This Supplemental thread is free for all to take part in, best fit to illustrate reactions upon the time of arrival, wherever your characters might be. Moreover, with this post being up, a new window of opportunity for more Supplemental threads has opened. This, available for all officers on the Cayuga, the Stallion and the Sword, to intermingle in any way you see fit, up until 0845 hrs.

Six was somewhat flustered by the haste made to get to the Allegiant, resorting to having to be beamed away from the Whetstone Lounge into the Allegiant’s transporter room. But she also had a feeling of elation. She was going back to the “Stallion,” in a way.

It did come to her as a surprise that the “Sword” was going to meet up with the “Stallion,” however.

But the thought that she left as an alcove was assembling, finally settling on a place to live…but she put it aside. The Theurgy was still the Theurgy, no matter what vector she was on. The place she had lived in was technically more workspace than living space; she liked the new quarters she picked out much better. She could still make her way between vectors once they reunited.

It came out of the fact that there were more…veterans on the “Sword” to get to know than there were on the “Stallion.”

Not to mention that she felt a sense of poetic justice to be on the Allegiant when it returned to the “Stallion,” given she departed the away mission in it. In addition to the feeling of nostalgia; she liked being on the Allegiant because it made her feel like she was back on the Delta Flyer.

In any event, she was fine with coming back to the Stallion. Depending on her availability in her duty work, she did need to check on her computer in her forensics lab; most of her data and ideas, particularly for the Revelation Array, were all back on the “Stallion.”

There wouldn’t be any good time to make the official proposal just yet, but Six needed the design in her person – literally – as soon as possible, in the event she did so. She may need an engineer’s opinion, though, once she has a moment.

She can’t help but smile at the sight of the “Stallion” and the Cayuga. Things were looking great.

Looking over at those who came from the Cayuga, particularly Lieutenant Martin, she couldn’t help but feel that she will miss them. Well, she may miss Lieutenant Martin the most. It was ironic, that the one officer on the away mission who was the nicest to her came from neither vector. However, Six will never forget the commendations he made about her.

When the Allegiant docked, Six turned to Lieutenant Martin and offered a hand to shake.

“Well, Lieutenant Martin,” she said with a smile, “in case we don’t meet again, it’s been an honor to serving with you.”

[Lt. Commander Wenn Cinn | Battle Bridge | Deck 8 | Vector 2 | USS Theurgy]

Camped out in the center chair once again Cinn massaged his hand while watching gas clouds drift by on the view screen.  Amelya had done a tremendous job last night, aside from some phantom pains from the new nerve connections you’d never know that it had been completely crushed just a few hours ago.  All around him the bridge buzzed with the usual background noise: console chirps, quiet conversation, communication links to other parts of the ship, and so on.  One thing about the background noise that was concerning the Bajoran was the way the hull groaned as they moved at warp.  It was yet another reminder of just how badly the Rotarran had mauled them, and how close they came to being destroyed outright.

Returning his thoughts to the upcoming meeting, Cinn was struggling to figure out how to explain things to Stark and Captain Ziegler.  Stark knew most of what he knew already of course, all he had to do was fill her in on what had happened since the Protocol had been enacted.  Theurgy’s old XO though, which apparently she was willing to let Stark help with repairs, just how much of the past few months’ story did she believe?  At least the Borg were a known threat that clearly needed to be dealt with, they had that in their favor.  The main question was if either Stark or Ziegler would believe the reports about Nicander and just how he came by the knowledge that he has.

Cinn’s rumination came to an end when the helm called out with long expected status.  They were almost to the rendezvous point with the Stallion and Cayuga.  There was still too much sensor interference from the nebula to tell if either ship was present, they’d have to wait until they dropped out of warp to find out if this trip was for nothing.  “Bring us out of warp, and send my thanks and congratulations to engineering for getting us here.  It was well worth it to replicate all that baling wire it would seem.”

On the screen, the view shifted as they dropped past the warp barrier and came to a near stop.  The Allegiant was still right in front of them, but speeding off to the familiar shape that was Theurgy’s third vector, holding position close to the Cayuga.  The latter looked a little worse for wear, but based on Yukimura’s report they’ve clearly had quite a bit of success getting Ziegler’s ship back on its feet.  Sighing in relief, Cinn sent a quick prayer of thanks to the Prophets for helping them get to this point.  It didn’t take long for the communications array to light up.  They were being hailed by both of the other ships.  “Put them both on screen.”  A moment later both women replaced their respective ships at the front of the bridge.

Standing in greeting, Cinn gripped his hands behind his back and stepped forward a step.  “Captain Ziegler, Captain Stark, I can’t say how glad I am to see you both here.  All of us.  Time is short, we need to meet together the moment we can get on board the same ship.  We stand ready to assist with any required repairs and medical needs, but I also ask your assistance with our own. Shall I attempt transport to this ship for you?"

[Lt. Cmdr. Natalie Stark, Captain | Bridge| Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ]Attn: @Auctor Lucan @Arista @chXinya @FollowTomorrow @Doc M.
[Show/Hide]

The moment the Allegiant appeared on the ships sensors a call came from the bridge, summoning Natalie Stark from the cramped Ready room she'd posted up in shortly before the start of the shift. She'd over seen the hand over of course, at 0700, but she'd gone back into the other room to focus on the reports related to the repairs to both the Stallion and Zieglers ship, the Cayuga. The latter had come along considerably, given the gruesome nature of the Asurian jailbreak. The crew of the ship was cycling through, many of them taking a stop over in Sickbay, where the Stallion's staff was working over time, doing their best to patch up the Cayuga's injured, given the state of the later ships sickbay. She'd been in nigh on constant communciation with her counterpart during the evening, and had briefly beamed over to touch base with Lt. Kingston and MCPO O'Connel in person, before forcing herself to get some sleep back on her own ship (and admonishing Ziegler to do the same).

But now, she was back out the door of the ready room, coffee cup in hand as she crossed the bridge. "Get them - " She started to say, but over at Ops, Conway cut her off. "Incoming hail."

"This is the Allegiant, Requesting permission to dock. Urgent: Please make sure to establish communication with Captain Wenn on the Sword as soon as possible, and patch the Cayuga in as well." No sooner had Yukimura's voice come over the comms that the elongated form of the Theurgy's second vector warped into view. There were muffled gasps across the bridge as the damaged Sword dwarfed the Allegiant, the latter making its way towards the ship. Sucking in a breath, Natalie forced herself into her seat and nodded to Conway, who opened the channel.

"Allegiant, this is Captain Stark. Permission granted. You have an impressive sense of timing, Lieutenant. I'll read your report later, for now, welcome home." Short and sweet, before she twisted in her chair a bit, looking over at sciences. "I wont a full read out on that ship. Get Billy Bob a copy stat.I have a feeling he's going to be very busy repairing out sister Vector at this rate," she ordered. By then, Conway was raising a hand to draw Stark's attention.

"Captain Stark, Captain Ziegler is hailing both ships," Yvette said. there was a smile on the woman's face, one that couldn't be contained. They had found one of their sister vectors. Worse for wear, perhaps, and outside of the rendezvous point, but it gave her hope. With a quick glance, Natalie could see that hope spreading across the others across the bridge. So why am I so warry? she asked herself, face neutral. Nodding a bit, she gestured with her hand toward the screen.

"Hail the Sword and put the feed from Captain Ziegler up." She ordered, sitting back in her chair and watching as both her ships former XO, and the current Chief of Security appeared in split view. The Bajoran took the initiative, adressing them both.

"Captain Ziegler, Captain Stark, I can't say how glad I am to see you both here.  All of us.  Time is short, we need to meet together the moment we can get on board the same ship.  We stand ready to assist with any required repairs and medical needs, but I also ask your assistance with our own. Shall I attempt transport to this ship for you?" Stark digested the words swiftly and gave a small nod, unsurprised by his immediate request to meet. Nor that time was short. She was well aware that they were ticking down on another rendezvous. Rather than draw things out, she turned and met Anya's gaze through the viewscreen, before turning back to Wenn Cinn.

"Captain Wenn, it's good to see you and the Sword, though I'm concerned about the damage you've sustained. It seem's we've all had some nasty encounters. If your transporters are up to the task I'm content to meet you on your vector." That sounded processional enough, she decided, swallowing some concern. He was being polite about things, and she knew they'd all been through a rough patch, but she couldn't help remembering the coldness he displayed towards her in the last staff meeting they'd had, on the Theurgy. That sudden distance. She was surprised he hadn't simply ordered her over and asserted command over both Vectors. After all, unless he was purposing splitting up again, thats how this would end. Her command was essentially over, and she was entirely unsure how to deal with that.

"Please have your engineer send a report on the status of your ship to Master Chief O'Connell. He'll coordinate repairs between the two vectors and the Cayuga. I'll head down to our transporter room now to beam over." A pause, and then, "Lt. Conway, please have Lt. Yukimura meet me in transporter room...4," she had to think for a moment about which would be closer. "And send him my apologies. I had hoped to let him rest, but I want his input on what goes forward." She smiled up at the other Captains as she tugged her jacket down a bit over her bust, and smoothed out the sides of her skirt. " Lt. Ejek, you have the bridge. Captain Zielger, Captain Wenn, I'll see you both shortly. And Cinn," A pause, "We're all glad to see you."

[ Lt. Zelosa Ejek | Bridge | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ]

There was a lot of hope in the room. It had been a long time, it felt like, since anyone had hope quite like this. She was content to feel it, to absorb it all. She did not share in it though; something in her gut told her to hold back, lest her expectations be shattered by yet another disaster. After all, what if they reunited, only to find that one of her many friends was hurt, injured, or...gone.

But she did not reveal her suspicion. This fragile, fledgling hope was far too important for the crew of all ships involved to dash it. There were smiles, for once. Smiles! What she wouldn’t give for more of those in her life…

She had been sitting in her chair on the bridge, allowing Natalie to lead while she contemplated and worried. When Natalie announced she had the bridge, she nodded quietly. She knew this was coming. Likely, both she and Natalie would be relieved of these damnable positions and Ejek would no longer have the bridge for as long as she lived

When the feed ended, and just before Natalie transported out, Ejek spoke to her captain and temporary work partner.
“You’ve done a good job, Stark.” It was a quiet compliment. She gave them out sparingly and did not like to announce them to the rest of the bridge, but Stark needed a quick boost. Privately and publicly, the Cardassian thought that, for as clumsy as command was on her, it did suit her.

“Let’s keep up our good work, everyone. We’re not quite done yet.”

[ Captain Anya Ziegler (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Anya_Ziegler) |  Bridge | Deck 1 | USS Cayuga ] Attn: @Auctor Lucan @Brutus @chXinya @Top Hat , Anyone else.
[Show/Hide]

It was early, and Anya Ziegler sat in the centre chair. Though, it wasn’t as early as it had been for the engineering and operations staff who had worked through the night. It must have been hard and gruelling but, with the added resources of Theurgy, great headway had been made.

Ziegler told herself that she wouldn’t set foot on the bridge until the bodies had been cleared and she hadn’t. Following the situation with the Asurians, she had her wounds tended and then worked from various parts of the ships, helping to restore at least some of the order that had been lost. As she had worked, she projected a strong outward aura but in her own mind, Anya chastised herself as a coward. She hadn’t returned to the bridge because she couldn’t bear to look upon the destruction and broken bodies of so many crewmen including, her First Officer and friend, West.

Even now, after the casualties removed and the blood cleaned, the walls and console held evidence of the battle which had taken place, small scratches or marks seemed to line every panel. Though the situation still hadn’t been completely resolved, Anya kept looking forward to the future. If she had something to look forward to, there was a reason to keep going. She did wonder though, if the ship would ever feel like a home again.

With a flash of light, a ship arrived out of warp. It was larger than the allegiant, but didn’t cause any immediate worry, the Captain knew the shape immediately.

“Captain, Vector 2 of the Theurgy has arrived.” The call came from the operations officer. The dark rings under his eyes showed that he needed more sleep that he got, but there was nothing Ziegler could do to relieve him just yet.

“Hail both vessels.” She ordered, ensuring she was composed and straight on with the viewscreen.

The screen itself was split into two, on one side, Natalie Stark sat. Anya wasn’t sure, but she thought she could see an immense sense of relief from Stark. Perhaps she wasn’t so comfortable in command? Or was there something else going on? As expected from anytime Ziegler had spent with Wenn Cinn, he filled out the chair he sat in and more, the large mountain of a man was formidable, but Anya had seen he did have a heart of gold.

Pausing, Ziegler let the two officers get reacquainted before piping in once the conversation reached its natural point.

“Thank you both, Captain Wenn, I agree, you are a sight for sore eyes as well. A meeting is most prudent. Please let your transporter officer that I shall be ready shortly, Ziegler Out” When the channel closed, Ziegler stood up and straightened her uniform. Casting an eye over the assembled bridge crew. Many were relief officers as a large proportion of the remaining senior staff were still off ship. “Lieutenant McKinney, you have the Bridge.”

The walk to the transporter room was uneventful, wires and damaged panels still lined the corridors, but at least the main lights were on. The LCARs displays built into the walls flickered and illuminated with life. Small signs that just perhaps, things could return to normal.

The signal to beam across came shortly after Ziegler had stepped up onto the transporter pad. With the tell-tale whine and shine of light, Anya materialised in the transporter room. An operations officer from Theurgy was waiting.

“Welcome aboard Theurgy, Captain Ziegler. I’m here to escort you to the conference room.” The young officer said, a slight hint of nervousness in his voice.

“I doubt you have moved it since I was XO, but I would appreciate the company.” Anya quipped back, as the officer’s face reddened. It was possibly a little harsh, but it was the truth. Stepping down off the pad, they quickly moved out into the corridor and on their way. As she walked, Ziegler noticed that even though the ship was the same as vector 3, in many subtle ways there was a difference. Perhaps just in the faces of those she passed, or just in the air.

The conference room already had some officers in by the time She arrived, there was no sign of Stark yet, but she would no doubt be joining immediately afterwards. Wenn Cinn took up a portion of the room with his large muscular frame. Was it possible that he was even more bulked that than when she had left Theurgy? A small part of the woman wanted to run up and hug the Bajoran. If there was one positive thing this crisis had given, it was the chance to see old acquaintances.

With the Vector Captain was someone she didn’t recognised. A man, fairly tall and solidly built with pure black irises. Betazoid, or at least part.

“Good to see you Wenn. I wish it was under more fortunate circumstances.” Ziegler said in a light, jovial manner. Turning, she held out her hand to the other officer, by way of introduction. “Captain Anya Ziegler, Commanding Officer of the Cayuga.”

[ Lieutenant Masuda Yukimura (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Masuda_Yukimura) | Bridge | USS Allegiant NX-80978 > Transporter Room 04 > Conference Room ] Attn: All (?)
[Show/Hide]
Upon receiving word from the Stallion that they had permission to dock, Masuda had just nodded to officer Dumral, who in turn responded that they were on the way. The Cardassian woman issued the automated docking command, and the Allegiant smoothly got in position below the Stallion, before it elevated into place in its docking bay. When the docking clamps closed around the hull, the away mission was officially over.

Meanwhile, Masuda had heard from Stark that he would have to attend the meeting as well, which was a change of plans for sure. He had hoped to debrief the officers on the Allegiant first. He'd simply have to do it later. "Acknowledged, Captain Stark, I'm on my way," he said, and then turned to the present officers on the bridge. They had all heard his orders, and he shrugged. "It's been my honour to have you on this short mission, and while I had thought I'd debrief you in the docking lounge now, I will simply have to gather you all later. Report to your duties in your departments respectively, but please remain on the Vector for the time being. I have a feeling that the two present hulls of the Theurgy will reintegrate in a few minutes, so crossing to that Vector is also fine, of course, and I will send word as soon as I know more. Gather your things, and dismissed."

Yukimura left his personal belongings on the Allegiant, since Stark was waiting for him, and was the first person off the scoutship, heading to the turbolift that would take him to Transporter Room 04. Once there, he met Stark in the alcove, and he inclined his head to her. He expected that she wanted to be briefed ahead of the meeting with Wenn Cinn and Ziegler, so he began to talk while he came to stand next to her. "With help from Ensign Six, we found a debris field of a tactical Borg cube late yesterday evening, along with a part of Task Force Archeron, or what was left of it after the battle we'd missed. The radiation of the battle's aftermath made it difficult to scan, so we could only pick up one survivor before two new Borg cubes showed up - one of which had the same signature as the one which attacked the Cayuga. I ordered the Allegiant to hide deeper into the debris field, and escaped notice. Eventually, one cube went in a direction towards the heart of the Azure Nebula, and the other left the debris field behind."

"Energising transport," said Vereyn Kiiz from the controls, and Masuda paused his report while they were relocated to the Sword, facing another transporter officer instead. There was a young officer present that gestured that they should follow him, and Masuda could continue to brief Stark while they headed to the conference room.

"Officer Eboh was able to identify eleven starships from Sankolov's fleet, but no evidence of the others being near the battle. Before we left, we picked up an audio log from the Ark Royal - one of the Sovereign-class ships that had been destroyed. We learned from the audio log how the last ships, overrun by Borg, sacrificed themselves and the assimilated crew by ramming the cube's shields and thick armour at warp speed. We also learned why they did it; The Borg Queen was on the cube. There was no way to know if she survived or not, but as we followed in the wake of one of the cubes, we encountered the Sword. Wenn Cinn then gave the order to go here first, before the final Rendezvous, because of the Sword's damages. With the two Vectors reintegrated, we can make it in time."

Stepping off the turbolift at the right deck, Masuda finished his report. "As for the Sword's damages... the Klingon Empire has responded to Starfleet Command's request for help in hunting us down. They fought against the Rotarran in the heart of the nebula, since Chancellor Martok believed the Theurgy was responsible for the death of his son, when the Hakkarl was destroyed at the Coreless Moon. If you remember Ensign Mariner's report about the events there, you'll likely know how that wasn't the truth, but how - to an outsider - that might also seem plausible. Before the Sword left the battle, pursued by Klingon raiders, the Borg cube we chased passed them by... and entered a hidden subspace tunnel. Since then, after the Allegiant helped destroy the pursuing raiders, we have learned that the cube we saw... will bring hundreds of cubes through the tunnel. Today. If I were to guess at Martok's intentions, I think the Klingons have remained at the mouth of the tunnel... to defend their border."

At this point, they had arrived to the conference room, and when they stepped inside, Yukimura saw Ziegler greeting Commander Ducote from the Endeavour. Masuda was prepared to brief Ziegler in the same fashion he'd briefed Stark, if given the order.

OOC: Next up, @Top Hat , followed by @chXinya ! Then it's @Brutus and @Arista again. :) You all have 7 days to post, and if Masuda is asked to brief Ziegler by Ducote/Wenn Cinn/Stark, please feel free to add a sentence in which you tell the readers that Masuda gives the same report as I just wrote in this post. Please also bear in mind that neither Stark nor Ziegler knows about the Endeavour, but they have learned about Nicander being an Infested from Ejek. They are, however, oblivious to the later development with Nicander and what he's said after that, including his involvement in the Klingon encounter. Oh, and I have heard requests to have the two Theurgy Vectors reintegrated to allow for reunions, so please have this happen ASAP in the beginning of the meeting? Thank you!

No set posting order for all others who feel like posting in this thread, just make sure to get the location tag right. :)

Lt. JG Izar Bila (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Izar_Bila)| Bridge | USS Allegiant NX-80978 >Docking Bay Lounge | Deck 19 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy]
[Show/Hide]

@Auctor Lucan  @Masorin  @Griff  @Fife  @Triton  @lisavw  @SummerDawn

Tapping in his Padd deeply concentrated , Bila perceived the drop of the scout vessel to sublight speed by the change of luminosity in the corners of his field of view. Although he still needed to reckon the distribution of samples of nanoprobes vaccines between the three starships, he looked away from his tablet and gazed towards the bridge main screen, where the image of the two ships they were approaching could be seen. Both were far from being in the best possible conditions but still despite this, he couldn't prevent the the tie of nerves that knotted in the pit of his stomach loosen slightly. The Cubes they had witnessed lurking the battlefield and later, when they reached the Sword, seemed that haven't been able to found the damaged vessels. His eyes slowly averted to the elegant shape of the Cayuga, the Iroquois Class ship had been his home for the last year, and the hybrid was glad to see her again, her lights more abundant and bright than when they had left.  They arrived home. And they were still alive. Without suppressing a relieved smile, Bila raised a silent prayer to the Prophets, grateful for their favor.

The main screen soon changed its image, when Masuda answered the hail of the Stallion and Bila lost his interest on the display. The Allegiant's captain soon requested permission to dock and communicate with the rest of the captains, so the attention of the chemist returned to focus on his tablet. The calculation of the distribution of the vaccines between the two vectors of the Theurgy depended on the remaining crew, the index of culture of the samples, the possible action of various catalysts that he had discussed with Dr. Parnak, the equipment of the different labs of the different vectors and in the Cayuga, the damage reports that specify how many of those laboratories could be used and in what percentage of efficiency... There were many variables, too many. His less optimistic calculations said that barely 15% of the Cayuga's crew could be vaccinated, if they were concentrated in less than 3 decks. In the case of the Theurgy, that percentage was reduced to 3% of the total crew of both vectors. If he trusted that everything would go as it should and could synthesize accelerators for the cultivation of nanoprobes... Or which was almost the same thing: if he was really optimistic, they could inoculate 65% of the crew of the Cayuga and 30% of the crew of the Theurgy.  It was insufficient, he knew it. Bila was reducing crew members, people with their lives, dreams and ambitions to mere percentages, mere numbers to throw in two piles. One in which they would have a small extra chance of saving themselves, the other condemned them to certain death or something worse in case they were approached by the Borg. He knew that the responsibility wasn't his own, and yet ... and yet, Bila noticed how the knot in the pit of his stomach tightened again, the anxiety before such a decision contributing to the almost constant anxiety in which he was sunk lately.  It was not enough. If he had more time. Just a little more time... Unconsciously, he put his hand in his earring, fiddling with the thin chain as he did when circumstances were far from being under control.

His worried pondered was interrupted by the voice of the Allegiant's Captain. He dismissed them briefly, and Bila just responded with a short nod and a worried smile. "It's been an honor to serve under your orders too, sir." He acknowledged in a whisper. As soon as Masuda left the bridge, Bila turned to face Eboh. "I'll need your help again" He asked with a more cordial tone than he usually used to with the Chief. He remembered well what had happened after landing on the Sword and wasn't going to let the other hybrid make him waste his time with another dirty trick. Bila couldn't afford it, not this time. "I will need your help to carry the ORE and the vaccines to... deck 17 labs. Remember neither of them can be transported by their instability." He kept saying after look away from the dark-skinned man to check the Theurgy deck layout he had downloaded to his device. "If you can get some help, it would be perfect, there are several more cases than the last time and we need to work against the clock to set them to cultivate again as soon as possible," he instructed as he continued to type on his padd looking for the responsible officer of the science department of the Stallion at that time. His search gave him the name of the ensign Cir'Cie as the official in charge of the science department of the vector. "This is Junior Liutenant Izar to Ensign Cir'Cie, I need to request the use of several labs in deck 17, chemistry or biolabs prefered, I'll brief you shortly about the nature of the experiment" He requested using his combadge. Shortly after, he leave the bridge, expecting to be followed by the Ops. Chief immediately.

[Lt. Cmdr Vael Kaeris | Cmdr Ducote's Temporary Quarters | Deck 10 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Top Hat  @trevorvw  @TWilkins

It was often difficult to maintain a sense of timing so far removed from the command structure of the vessel.  They were, after all, little more than passengers at best on this ship full of accused traitors and rebels.  And though his own crew had gathered in Commander Ducote's quarters to discuss their predicament -- or rather predicaments, as this vessel seemed cursed to flood as it was to shower -- and to weigh any options they had possibly drawn in their time aboard, passengers they truly remained with only as much power as the command crew would care to give them.

And given their first encounter, Vael questioned whether significant change would ever be forthcoming in that regard.  As the his refugee crewmates discussed expressed their thoughts, ideas, anxieties, Ducote had seemed to take them all in their stride, as any dutiful commander would, offering support where he could, instruction where he needed.  And yet Vael was keenly aware that the commander, too, needed support, needed some confirmation that his people, such as they were, stood behind him.

To that end, and perhaps not unexpectedly, Vael kept his own briefing to the point.  He was factual.  There was little point in attempting to honey-coat the situation.  The commander had instructed him to coordinate with his counterpart among the Theurgy crew.  He had, at least disclosed his findings to the members of the crew that had been present on the bridge.  Who among them he might consider his counterpart, if any, was at question.  He'd had no real opportunity to study the crew manifest for the ship and, separated as it was, the question remained as to whether their own CSO was aboard this particular vector.

But the command was straight forward enough and no less than Vael had planned to do on his own.  As the meeting drew to a close, Vael rose, acknowledging each of his companions with a respectful inclination of his head before he completed the tea he'd been nursing for much of the conversation.  He'd intended a private moment with the commander, hoping to gauge his own well being, assuming Kobol  had not already made such an attempt telepathically.  In that instant, however, what little luxury of time they may have desired was cast aside as the trail of lights that streamed by the viewport suddenly turned to pinpoints, the faint shift in the gravity plates and inertial dampeners telling one and all that they had emerged from warp.

Vael walked to the port and looked out on the starscape.  "Commander," he motioned, indicating the second vector and the Cayuga floating ahead, the Allegiant rushing to doc.  "We should probably make our way to the bridge."

[Lt. Rhys Williams| Sickbay | USS Theurgy] Attn: @anyone

The Chief counselor of the Cayuga's eyes snapped open their vivid blue scanning round the room. His body snapped up in place, something he immediately regretted as his head  felt like a Klingon was having a party in it. The Anxiety, the horrible cold feeling around his heart dissipated as he recognised Starfleet uniforms around the room.

All around him were people laid up on beds around what it became apparent to him was a sickbay. Many were unconcious some were moaning gently, one was screaming. A young ensign was surrounded by medical technicians treating him. Rhys was ashamed to realise his thought was not one of sympathy, it was one of irritation. The yelling made his head worse, his hand went to his face covering his eyes from the bright lights.

Rhys tried to remember what had happened over the past few hours. It was hazy, he remembered having his head smashed into the floor and an awful feeling of not knowing where he was. He was fairly sure now he had been concussed, he also vaguely remembered the Cardassian counselor of the Theurgy escorting him to sickbay.  Or was it someone else, looking into his past memories was like trying to look through oil.

He tried to get up, no one seemed to stop at least not at first. He was probably not so high a priority based on the amount of severe injuries he could see around him. Not for the first time in his life he wondered if he was really cut out for this life. His feet touched the ground, he still felt dizzy though no where near as incapacitated during his fight in the corridor. Nausea threatened to overwhelm him but he pulled himself together.

He wasn't sure what he was going to do, he just wanted to do something. All the people around him seemed far worse off than himself. If no one would stop him, he would stagger out the door and head for the bridge.

[ CPO Ekon Okotie-Eboh | Bridge | USS Allegiant NX -80978 > Docking Bay Lounge | Deck 19 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ] @Numen @Auctor Lucan

Once Ensign Dumral had guided the Allegiant home and docked with Vector 03 of the USS Theurgy, Eboh quickly went through the necessary final checks before turning away from the Ops console to cast his gaze around the bridge. The CPO listened as Lieutenant Yukimura addressed the bridge crew, speaking of the honour it had been to serve with them and lamenting that he would not be able to brief them until later. Having instructed them to remain on this Vector of the Theurgy for the time being, he had dismissed them and departed for his own briefing, with several of the officers present echoed the sentiment of it having been honoured to serve with Yukimura prior to the acting Captain’s departure. Eboh had remained silent, not out of disrespect but rather out of habit and the belief that an NCO adding his voice to those of the officers on the bridge was unnecessary.

With Yukimura’s departure, Eboh rose form his seat and rolled his neck form side to side. No sooner had he returned his head to a neutral position than he found his vision filled with the rather unpleasant grey visage of their resident half-Cardie scientist, who wasted no time in requesting Eboh’s help. Eboh resisted the urge to roll his eyes and sigh as Lieutenant Izar elaborated, explaining his request in more detail. He had a feeling that Izar really did picture Eboh to be some sort of minion, existing only to help the mad scientist tinker with his projects and lug equipment around the ship. Eboh briefly toyed with the idea of ignoring the man, though he knew he wouldn’t. The half El-Aurian had anger problems among his other faults, though outright insubordination was not something he was capable of.

The half-Cardassian scientist finished his explanation and turned away without waiting for a confirmation from Eboh, heading towards the lab he had set up on the Allegiant. Eboh allowed himself a deep sigh then, the large man’s shoulders sagging slightly as he made to follow the bothersome science officer. He moved through the Allegiant’s corridor and followed Izar into the lab, where the ORE and multiple cases of vaccines awaited transport to new facilities aboard the Theurgy. He knew that Izar was right, and that everything would have to be carried rather than transported to the new lab, and so it was a small mercy that they had only to travel up 2 decks. Izar had busied himself fussing over some sinister project or another at a station on the far wall of the lab, and Eboh took a moment to stick his tongue out at the back of the grey scaled scientist’s head before moving to the ORE. The ORE’s large size and significant weight made it problematic to move, as Lt. Izar had demonstrated with his shaking and whining during it’s unloading on the Theurgy’s other Vector. Eboh knew that the scientist would never be able to carry it all the way to the science labs aboard this Vector, and so the dark-skinned man rolled his shoulders in anticipation of carrying the thing.

”Whenever you’re ready, sir.” Eboh informed the scientist, who was in the process of gathering cases of vaccines. ”I’ll need you to walk ahead of me to make sure the way’s clear.” A small smirk twitched into being on the Chief’s face as he added, ”Just be sure not to make any sudden stops. It would be a shame if I dropped the ORE on you.”

With that, Chief Eboh bent at the knees and maneuvered himself to get a grip on the device, the bulk of the Omicron Radiation Emitter’s casing making it difficult to get a good grip. Finally Eboh straightened, the hefting the ORE into a more manageable position before he turned and waited for Izar to lead the way. Eboh followed the half-Cardassian annoyance as they made their way out of the Allegiant’s docking bay, doing his best to ignore anything the scientist chose to prattle on about but having little success in that endeavour. And so it was the Eboh was left wondering how one skinny little scientist could prove to be so annoying as he lugged the bulky ORE along, trailing after the source of his annoyance with little to do but listen.

[ Lt JG Nator 159 | Battle Bridge | Deck 08 | The Sword ]

It had been a long night. S/he had managed an hour or so of sleep, snatched amid changing shifts, but mostly s/he was running on caffeine and grit. It had been a slog of manual labour and a few hasty prayers offered to whatever spirit of Thea remained in the ship, conducted in spaces not quite designed to allow so many warm bodies and traffic of heavy-duty components. But they had been successful.

The engine worked.

They had been borne at high warp to their destination, almost exactly on time, and as the ambient hum dropped in volume and pitch as they dropped back to sublight, Nator couldn't help but match the change in the sound with hir own posture. S/he slumped in hir seat for a moment of self-indulgent relief, suppressing the irritation at being touched when the Engineering CPO back on shift clapped hir on the shoulder.

"Told you it'd be fine," he said.

Yeah, yeah.

Sitting back up, s/he began getting ready for reintegration; checking the clamp sites were mobile and clear, that the structural damage they'd taken wouldn't impede the process, and that the Stallion was in similar or better shape than they were. Hir clawtips made sharp clicking noises as s/he typed. Never a dull moment.

They could still make the final rendezvous with the Helmet. And, oh! What a feat that would be, to get all three Vectors together again under the noses of TFA and the Klingons. Deep in hir chest, quite unbidden, s/he felt the swelling pressure s/he usually felt before a hunt. Hir body readying itself for a pacing run followed by a kill-sprint, to pour every ounce of hir strength into the killing blow.

Old instincts, new purpose. They would run down the Helmet, pick it up, and thumb their noses at their pursuers.

Nator found hirself in the best mood s/he'd been in in days.

[ Cmdr Ranaan Ducote | Conference Room | Deck 08 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @Arista @Auctor Lucan @chXinya @steelphoenix

When Ducote and Vael had entered the room led by a tired-looking tactical JG on the way to the bridge a few minutes ago, he greeted Wenn with a nod and a quiet 'Good morning', even if it promised to be anything but. That and the fact he felt some of his patience had resurfaced thanks to his few hours' solid rest did wonders for his ability to be polite and diplomatic all at once.

Alas, there was no coffee.

It was a small detail, and it was hardly as if they had the time to drink it given the sense of urgency he could feel radiating off the bodies in the room, and it was possibly the least important thing, but after so long having meetings with a pot of the black stuff sitting in the middle of the table it felt strange not to see one. Disciplinaries were exempt, of course, and there had been more than a few of those given some of the fiery personalities aboard the Endeavour... emergency briefings like this one were rarer, though. Much so.

He blinked away the images of the Endeavour, walking to one of the tall windows looking out over the dorsal hull, clasping his hands behind his back as he looked over the beautiful gossamer strands of colour running through the lightyears-wide gas cloud. If I never see this fucking nebula again, it'll be too soon.

One foot tapped twice before he decided that the noise would annoy everyone in the room including himself, so he stopped. It was hard to remain composed. If the doctor in the brig had been truthful, they were on an incredibly short timetable before the Borg arrived in force. It took some effort of will to suppress the bitter snort he wanted to make.

'In force'. They came in force twice with a single ship and it was nearly the end of the Federation. This is another scale entirely.

Aside from his aborted foot-tapping, there was little in his body language to betray his unease. Vael would probably pick up on his artificially-still posture and the minor tick in his jaw muscles though, his being used to court politics back home making him quite insightful in places like this. It was like waiting underneath the Sword of Damocles. He felt sick, furious, afraid, ice-calm, doggedly hopeful, all by turns. He could well imagine the wry look on Captain Amasov's face, had the man been able to see him now. But the bastards finally got you on their third attempt, Old Man. May God watch over you.

An instant before the doors opened, he felt the approaching minds outside the lounge. He turned halfway to watch who came in, out of curiosity. More of the Theurgy's crew, no doubt. His eyes narrowed fractionally as he counted a quartet of pips on one woman's collar, though. She had a similar intensity of gaze as Blue did- No.

She was Human, by how she felt to his empathy, which he found a boon; fewer obstacles to being able to read her without having to 'tune in' like he did with some of the less-common species in the Fleet. So it was easy to pick up the warm recognition she felt upon seeing Wenn Cinn, and the mutual recognition in the Bajoran. Not... necessarily a bad sign. But he had Designs here.

"... Captain Anya Ziegler, Commanding Officer of the Cayuga."

Ducote nodded once as he shook her hand. "Captain. Commander Ranaan Ducote, former First Officer of the.. former USS Endeavour." He couldn't quite hold her gaze for the last few words, though he met her eye again as he released her hand and stepped back. Admitting his failure aloud made it real, there was no hiding from it. Not for the first time this week, he wished for some time machine to carry him back, DTI be damned.

He glanced at Wenn, hoping to get down to business.

[ Lt Simon Tovarek | Battle Bridge | Deck 08 | The Sword ] @FollowTomorrow @Firefox013

After finally getting some shut eye Simon returned to the bridge on the Sword as they were minutes away from reaching the point the Allegiant had given as they location for Stallion and the Cayuga. He sighed as he warmed his hands with a cup of coffee and he noted that Cinn was already or still in the center seat. Simon took his place besides Cinn as the ship dropped out of warp and the other two ships came into sight. The science officer couldn't help but feel a sense of relief to see the third vector. Looking forward to the many cargo bays the Stallion had, he wished to continue on his drone work.

Cinn gave his orders and the other bridges came into sight split on the view screen. Simon said nothing and just kept his professional composure as the trio of captains talked and agreed to meet. Cinn would make his leave soon as he'd talk to the others, Simon saw no need to attend to it as well and his hunch was confirmed as he got control over the bridge. He nodded and stood when Cinn left and he looked at the officers present.

Tovarek first asked for a status report on all systems after the travel at warp. Checking which systems had been looked after during their travel and which were still in dire need of repairs. Once satisfied with it he smiled faintly "Alright, time for the real deal now. Open up a channel to the Stallion for me." he ordered as he walked over to the center seat and waited for the hail to be accepted. "Lieutenant Ejek, Lieutenant Tovarek here, I'd like to start reintegration as soon as possible. Prepare the ship and personnel for it." he stated before continuing "Otherwise, given the state of this Vector, we'll never reach the third Rendezvous in time."Simon concluded as he awaited her confirmation. Once done he turned his attention to the helm of his vector "Helm, set course for Vector three and begin the process. Take it nice and easy, there's no rush at the moment."

[ Lieutenant JG Evelyn Rawley, callsign “Ghost” | Fighter Assault Bay | Deck 16 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Auctor Lucan @Nolan @Triton @Havenborn  @Doc M.
[Show/Hide]

Rawley had already been making a beeline for the Fighter Assault Bay. She felt it was a good time as any to report to Ravon…Tom…and see what assignments he can provide. She wasn’t expecting any flying, per Maya’s recommendations, but it never hurt to report to the bay anyway. The other Wolves are likely to come trickling in, in any case, and she may as well be one other Wolf to be on hand.

She was glad that the drone girl was gone, but at the same time, she felt a twinge of respect. So the drone was fighting Asurians, in her own way. She felt like a wee lass cheering on her favorite fighter when she saw Jimmy Mariner’s footage of taking on Asurians. Still, she can’t help but feel curiosity at the viewscreen footage the drone provided. Perhaps the next time they met, she’ll ask.

She had a mind, depending on what Tom Ravon had in mind, to drop by Sickbay later, so she could see if she could see how Meony was. She missed the ginger lass.

By the time she arrived, she could see Tom Ravon at his Kestrel. Rawley smiled. Exactly where she expected him to be. She knew a good flight commander spent more time in a cockpit or around his or her bird than in an office.

“’Ghost’ reporting for the day’s duty,” she said when she approached him.

OOC: Post intended to set things up for the other Wolves in the Fighter Assault Bay for this thread of reuniting Vectors Two and Three.

[Lt. Commander Wenn Cinn | Conference Room | Deck 8 | Vector 2 | USS Theurgy]

Seeing his old friend once again was a ray of sunshine for what was sure to be a very bad day.  “Anya!” he saluted with a smile.  “I wish things were different too.  A cafe and jumja teas perhaps?”  Ducote and Ziegler made their introductions as well while Cinn glanced at Yukimura  to give him a nod of thanks.  Stark wasn’t too far behind so it was time to get this meeting going.  Time was short and there was a lot to go over.  “Please take a seat everyone, we do not have a lot of time.”  Taking his own chair at the head of the table, the view behind the Bajoran was almost picturesque.  The Stallion slowly came closer as the Sword maneuvered in to link up, her hull a dark silhouette on the blue nebula gas.

Sitting as straight as a first year Academy cadet, Cinn looked at everyone in turn.  “To get to the point, if our newest intelligence is accurate, and with everything from the source having been verified so far I have every reason to believe in said accuracy, we have approximately 2-5 hours before a massive Borg armada pours out of this nebula.  Their goal is the assimilation of every major and minor power in the Alpha and Beta quadrants.”  The reactions of the assembled leaders was exactly what he expected them to be.  That wasn’t the end of it though.  “As much of a nightmare as that is, there’s another player on this field: an extra-dimensional parasitic race whose goal is to get themselves assimilated by the Borg so that they can then use the Collective’s power to plunge the entire galaxy into chaos.”

Cinn let that bomb settle before continuing.  Of course the question was asked: just what was this intelligence source?  Cinn glanced at Stark who could easily guess, then Ducote and Yukimura who were there.  “Captain Ziegler, I’m not sure what you have been told about why the Theurgy went rogue, the reason is simple: Captain Ives learned that key elements of Starfleet Command had been taken by these parasites and were using us to subvert Federation ideals and security.  The USS Harbinger later joined us after discovering an infected officer on board their ship, and while attempting to send a Federation-wide warning we learned that Captain Hawthorne of Starbase 84 had also been possessed.”  Tapping the screen controls in front of him, Cinn brought up their ace card.  “Shortly after that debacle, we discovered that Doctor Lucan Nicander had also been possessed.”

On the display screen, a live image of Nicander showed his current circumstances.  “Apparently crewmember Heather McMillan holds some special ability that allowed Nicander himself to regain control of his body from the parasite, though he compares it to a constant battle.  He’s been able to tap into the thing’s innate abilities to assist us for the past few hours, though it takes a toll on him in doing so, namely from letting the parasite regain some measure of control.  For everyone’s safety he’s been isolated in the temporary holding cell in the Security Center, locked behind two level 10 force fields and a full vacuum.  The main reason he’s been able to learn about the parasites’ goals and provide other key intelligence is the parasites’ ability to visually and mentally communicate irregardless of distance.  Simply put, with a bit of effort he can see and hear anything another possessed being can.  Because of this, we’ve learned that elements of the Klingon Empire have been taken, as well as a new power called the Vigilant of Sa - the Savi - who we ran into just a few days ago.”

OCC: I know I didn't directly address anyone to add in their portions of the story, but still feel free to insert your own additions at reasonable points.

[ Lt. Zelosa Ejek | Bridge | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ]

Soon enough, Ejek had an incoming call put up on the viewscreen. It was Tovarek’s face and voice.
"Lieutenant Ejek, Lieutenant Tovarek here, I'd like to start reintegration as soon as possible. Prepare the ship and personnel for it. Otherwise, given the state of this Vector, we'll never reach the third Rendezvous in time."
“Our chances will be better once we join.” She nodded, thinking that perhaps the man was expressing sentiment that everyone else aboard the ship was feeling. “Expect to see us soon.”

It was time. Honestly, Ejek never thought they’d get to this point, where she’d hear herself say these words; “Begin re-integration procedure. Be gentle, doesn’t look like either of us are in good shape. I know we’re all excited to meet up, but I’d like it done right, not fast.”

She wished they could go fast. She had a very long list of people she wanted to check on. She was certain everyone else had similar lists.
“We’re almost there.” She folded her hands, speaking to no one and everyone. Her eyes closed and she imagined...friends. Her family.

“Almost.”

[Lt. Rhys Williams| Corridors| Deck??| Vector??|USS Theurgy] attn:   @Anyone

It felt like a long time since Rhys had stepped out of the sickbay. He had very rapidly become lost in the maze of corridors. This was perhaps a clear sign that the cobwebs had not all been blown out of his head. He had never been on the ship before of course, but he had not really thought to ask the ship's computer where he was and where he needed to be going.

He could see crewmen and officers going about their business. They seemed busy and to be preparing for something. Most never glanced at him, a handful did cast an eye over him but they were far too busy to register the stumbling Welshman. His head hurt and he felt sick, plus there was the over ridding feeling that he was not really making rational decisions. He was not even sure why he was heading to the bridge or what he would do when he got there.

This was not the first time he had received a concussion, as an avid player of rugby this had happened a few times. It had never felt quite as bad as this however. Though at least he was not collapsed on a muddy field with a collection of large muscular blokes crushing his bones to paste. You had to take what compensations you could.

He stumbled his way down corridors and the further he walked the more shaky his legs were, and the more obviously unstable he looked. He leaned on bulkheads every few feet as he staggered on.

(OOC-Not really sure where to go from here, if someone wants to interact with him please do.)

Tessa tottered into the fighter assault bay in time to see the familiar sight of the Vector 03 stardrive section known as the Shield through the magnetic field that turned the huge hatchway that led out into the black into one of the best windows aboard the Theurgy.  She watched it slowly pivot until it was facing away from the Theurgy and then it grew closer and larger before finally being lost to view.  What was unexpected was the view of a second starship, a battered Iroquois-class long range explorer that limped along after it and only left her view when the Sword pivoted, rose, and dipped during docking maneuvers.

A sigh of relief escaped the golden eyed pilot as she realized that they were no longer alone.

[Lt. Cmdr. Natalie Stark, Captain | Bridge| Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ]Attn: @Auctor Lucan @Top Hat @chXinya @Arista
[Show/Hide]

Unsurprising, Ensign Kiiz was at the controls of the transporter room when she entered. Natalie had been musing over how the meeting was going to go. How she'd bet stepping away from command of Vector Three, and into - what she assumed - was an executive officer role. Perhaps a better use of her skills, given her choices of late, but she liked that center seat. It was very likely the last time she'd sit in it.

Shaking that off, Natalie gave a nod to her transporter specialist and ascended the stairs up to the alcove. She picked her pad, and saw Yukimura enter. "Lieutenant," she called out to him. "My apologies for taking you away."

In what she assumed was true to his fashion - and perhaps, given the time constraints, prudent - the tactical officer launched right into an analysis of his mission. And it stripped the color right out of Natalie's cheeks. Hearing the words Task Force Archeron was not at the top of her list of things she wanted to hear in the morning, let alone in conjunction with the Borg. Then again, when they sent the Allegiant off, running into the Borg was almost a certainty.

Before she could comment, Ens. Kiiz engaged the transporter system, and the familiar blue white swirl took her away, depositing her on an almost identical transporter pad on the ships second vector. She gave a passing nod to their escort and dipped her dark haired head toward Lt. Masuda, listening in as they progressed along. The Ark Royal was a formidable ship. That their solution was self destruction is...less then reassuring.

"The Borg Queen?" Natalie raked her mind for all that she knew about the enigmatic figure that stood at the top of the hierarchy. "Haven't we killed two of them now?" She muttered darkly. It seemed however, that the surprises were still to come. Swallowing, Natalie summoned up the iron will she had put on display while in command of the Stallion, to hide her reaction to the continued bad new. We never get a damned break. Two steps forward, one step back, she thought bitterly. Hundreds of Borg? how in the hell are we supposed to deal with that. And the Savi. And Archeron. Dammit all to hell and back again.

"The Borg, The Klingons," she said after a moment, "Romulans back at Black Opal," she reached out and gave a gentle squeeze to Masuda's shoulders. "All we need are the Cardassians to round this month out." Pulling her hand back she tugged her jacket into place. "Lets see if Captain Ziegler beat us to the punch or not."

With that, she stepped forward, through the door, Masuda in tow, coming up short as she saw Wenn Cinn, and Anya Ziegler. And a Commander she did not recognize from either her ship, or the Cayuga. It completely derailed her plans upon entering the room. As such, no order to quickly de-brief Cpt. Ziegler was given. Perhaps Wenn Cinn would take care of that.

"Who the hell is that," she whispered under her breath, glancing at Yukimura. This was, perhaps, one surprise too many. Something that Masuda thought not nearly important enough to mention? Something he had been unaware of. Or something he had been manipulated into believing was not out of the ordinary. She'd heard of that, in the past. Alien's inserting themselves into crews, twisting memory and record to convince the others around them that they were a part of their crew.

Or maybe you're just as paranoid as Anya accused. Natalie silently chastised herself. There could be a perfectly reasonable explanation for all this that wasn't alien infiltration. God knows we've got enough of that all ready. She caught Cinns eye, briefly, before taking her seat in silence next to the Cayuga's ship master, not bothering to get an introduction to the stranger in the room. Cpt. Ziegler did not seem too agitated over the unexpected face, and Natalie deduced that she at least had been given an introduction. That would have to suffice.

The ship hummed around her, and Natalie could tell it was in motion. Ops was not all that different from Engineering, and she was well familiar with the peculiarities of her ship. A quick glance confirmed her suspicions. The two vectors were reintegration. Good-bye, independent command she thought. She had so much else to dwell on that she really should push the sudden sense of loss aside...

"Oh for gods sake," she whispered under her breath, reaching up to run a hand over her mouth. Of course they wanted to get assimilated. She should, by all rights be terrified. That she was angry, more than scared, worried her. She needed to schedule time with a shrink. She eyed the Bajoran officer across from her, trying to gauge from the man the full source of his intel, and not liking her suspicions. This was going to end poorly.  How they could trust that ....thing.

She shuddered, once again forcing herself to repress the memory, the knowledge of what had been a light moment of healing now an open wound on her soul. Think of something else, anything else her mantra from the past few days, after she had learned that particularly disturbing truth. The pressures of command had been a much welcome distraction there.

Natalie pointedly refused to look at the live display of Nicander, after that one, short glance.

Eventually, Wenn paused, and Natalie raised a finger to draw his attention. "We've had our own run in with the after effects of the Borg, and I am quite sure that Captain Ziegler can fill you in on any specifics regarding the Cayuga and the cube they encountered that was not already passed along by the crew of the Allegiant." She shared small nods with Lt. Masuda and Cpt. Ziegler. "We also had a dust up with the Asurians. They're out and about on the hunt and they made their presence known, to the detriment of both of our crews.

"However..." She turned her gaze full onto the one man she did not know. The apparently Betazoid Commander in red. "If I missed the introductions, my apologies, but just who are you and what are you doing here?"

Lt. Kaylon Jeen | Cir'Cie's Quarters | USS Theurgy - Vector 3| Attn @Auctor Lucan

The timer went off....Kaylon rolled over and saw the display.  0745  It had been a while since he'd slept that late, especially recently with all the repairs to the Cayuga going on.  He had been at the forefront of the effort.  It had been even longer since he had spent the night in the company of a beautiful woman.

Turning his head, he saw Cir'Cie asleep beside him.  The Vulcan had surprised him with her willingness to spend time socially with him.  He had met her in the Theurgy's mess hall while eating lunch there after a meeting with the Theurgy's engineering staff to go over some further needs that the Cayuga had.  She had seemed friendly enough, for a Vulcan.  He had heard she was a botanist, so he spoke about native Trill plant life, including the Ter'anakul plant, used to create Kaylon's favorite dessert, The Ter'ana Souffle.  She had, if the term could be applied to a Vulcan, eagerly tasted the leaves of the sweet plant when he replicated one last night.  After that, she had become actually friendly.  Kaylon had assumed that Cir'Cie had appreciated the interest he showed in her scientific specialty.  Botany was not one of the sciences that many paid a lot of attention to, outside of terraforming and crop sciences.

Looking around, somewhat bleary eyed, thanks to the other thing they had shared from the Ter'anakul plant..Ter'an Bourbon.  He, more than her, but the repairs had been going well with no major setbacks or alien attacks, so Kaylon had felt like celebrating.

The end result, they had wound up in bed together.

Now it was time for him to get dressed and get back to the Cayuga.  He sat up, and turned toward her, trying to think of something to say so he wouldn't seem like the Wham, Bam, Thank you ma'am type, but he had to get going.  There was a plasma inducer he still needed to repair and realign before noon.

He opened his mouth to say something, when she looked up at him expectantly.

[ Lieutenant Commander Thomas Ravon | Fighter Assault Bay | Deck 16 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ]
@Multificionado @Doc M.

After the minor hiccup in the morning, Thomas had continued work to make his fighter flight worthy. Combat ready wasn't exactly the right word as he still needed to swap some things out of the ship, yet he was getting there. He heard footsteps behind him, a light set to be sure before he turned around to look at Rawley. She reported for duty and just seeing Evelyn made the pilot smirk about the earlier thing in the morning with Bila. "Rawley.... At ease." he smiled before he attempted to clean his hands a little with a piece of cloth "Not much to do at the moment, just check for any work here in the bay. Or finish up on your mission report." he answered her.

Thomas his eyes fell on the launch bay's exit as the Cayuga and Stallion came into view. The ship moving into position to reintegrate. It made the pilot smile "Ah, now that is a sight for sore eyes..." he whispered as he nodded towards it so Rawley could see as well. In the meantime Tessa had arrived as well as she looked at the closing vector as well.

Lt. JG Izar Bila (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Izar_Bila)| Bridge | USS Allegiant Docking Bay Lounge → Corridors | Deck 19 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy]
[Show/Hide]
@Nolan  @Fife

After collecting all the data he needed from the Allegiant computer, Bila took a pair of vaccines' cases, his duffel bag stuffed with padds hunging in his shoulder and some hyposprays and he was more than ready to leave the small ship. He didn't deign to answer the Chief's crude attempt at provocation, and he limited himself to pointing out every obstacle that the heaviest man could find in his way. He was well aware he was just rambling alongside with his helpful remarks, but he couldn't avoid it. He was doing it partly to fill the silence that had followed his attempt to communicate with the responsible officer of the science department. But mainly because he was nervous. There was another comm he had to perform, that he WANT to perform, but at the same time he was terrified by the same idea of doing it. So, when he and Eboh drove themselves into the corridors of vector 3, the chemist was surprisingly silent, unable to maintain a dull talk due the sudden dryness of his throat. The hybrid cleared his throat several times and looked over his shoulder to the other man without changing the speed of his steps. The petty officer seemed quite focused on carrying the ORE and the rest of the vaccines, and on that that supplies stack kept in balance between his meaty arms. With some luck that would keep the insidious hybrid busy enough to make the comm without any witty remark.

The bajcardie accelerated his strides and moved forward slightly, so that he remained within Eboh's sight but outside of his auditory range. Or so he expected. Being hard of hearing compared to the rest of the humanoids, Bila was never sure if he would be heard or not. He couldn't risk going further and being lost of sight, so he mustered up his courage and activated his combadge again."Junior Lieutenant Izar to Petty Officer Benmual" He said with more self-confidence than he really felt. The communicator chirped in his chest, pointing that a connection had been established with the designated person. That innocuous sound made his heart skip a beat and the dryness returned to take hold of his throat. "I ... well ... I ... I'm alive" he babbled quickly and, almost at the moment his words left his lips he realized how absurd they sounded. "I... I mean... the Allegiant just came back and I... I was wondering, well, given that we have been ordered to stay by this vector until further notice, I ... I was wondering if... that maybe, well, maybe if you are out of duty ma-maybe you don't mind to share a tea or something else with me, here, in the Stallion" He quickly fumbled, feeling that every word he uttered was even more shameful and awkward than the previous one. "O-o-only if you can a-and want to, of course" he finished saying before removing the fingers of the badge, while he hopeless felt how the blush crawled to his cheeks.

[ PO 2nd class Kythalie Benmual | Transport room 1 | Deck 19 | USS Cayuga ]
@Numen

Standing in the transport room with another security officer, Kythalie was charged to take one of the Theurgy crew members back to his designated ship. After causing for some racket and operational disturbance, the man had been sentenced to the brig. He was however to be sent to the brig on Theurgy and thus Benmual was charged with bringing the man to said brig. While they were waiting for the former people to be beamed across her combadge chirped and she frowned, not expecting any communications heading her way.

Hearing Bila's voice and his incoherent, yet seemingly steady voice made her chuckle lightly as she tapped her own badge. She turned away from the company she was in "I'm on duty lieutenant." she offered him strictly, business like and to the point. She couldn't help but smile faintly as she wondered if it would spook the scientist, remembering how he had frozen more then once in Sickbay. She continued however "I am however on my way to the Stallion for work related matters. I think I can squeeze out a refreshment top before I head back to the Cayuga." she answered with a coy undertone in her voice "I'll contact you when I'm done."

With that she waited for his reply before the link would be cut as the transport officer motioned her to get into position on the transport pads.

Rawley turned in Tom’s direction and was absolutely gobsmacked. The Stallion.

“Well, I’ll be gobsmacked,” she said in astonishment. She had, after all, missed when all the vectors separated, and smiled widely at the sight of one of them.

She stepped to Tom’s side and briefly rubbed her arm along his.

“It couldn’t have happened at a better time, aye?” she said, making an aside glance and winking back with a cheeky smile. She noticed the second ship and remembered Jimmy Mariner, earlier in the Whetstone Lounge. “That must be the Cayuga. One of the new lads, Jimmy Mariner, he tells me he stopped a boarding party of Asurians on it. Aye, Asurians, that’s what he says. Even showed me footage. Jimmy Mariner’s bloody tough to take on a bunch of Asurians and live to tell the tale. I’m sure there were plenty of arses and goolies for him to smack down.”

As she looked, it just occurred to her…

“That must be Anya Zeigler’s ship. Theurgy’s former first mate. Natalie Stark must’ve certainly gone oot of her way to save her boss’s arse along with her ship. Jimmy helped save it…along with a ex Borg girl. Cannae believe it. God forbid the Helmet has faced something worse.

“Anyway, yeh mentioned mission report, Commander,” she said, figuring to drop her casual tone; she is on duty, after all. “Alright if I use yehr office to fill it oot?”

As Six extended her hand to say good bye, Salem softly placed his hand over hers, and lowered it kindly if awkwardly pushing away the gesture. "Oh don't worry you will be seeing me again, cause I'm going with you." He said rather amused for a moment. He had been thinking for the past few hours while they had been in transit from one section of the ship to the other. He walked out of the Allegiant with Six.

He had already recorded a number of messages to be sent to the Cayuga back to his fellow crew, the few friends he had made along the way, but most importantly too his Captain, and the soon to be captain of vectors one and two as he had just asked for the commanding officer of the ship.
[Show/Hide]
Turning to Six. "So yeah, like I said I'm not exactly leaving you just yet." He lifted up his bag. "I'm even packed."

Six was more susceptible to surprise than Seven of Nine was, but few things rarely take her for a loss of words. Since joining the Theurgy, she felt they’ve been increasing in frequency, from Asurians to the debris field to the bad-tempered Rawley. Now she had just one more thing to add: The unexpected news of Salem Martin’s joining the Theurgy himself. Although she should’ve expected that possibility; his sister was on another one of the vectors, and there was a great probability that he intended to seek her out.

In any case, Six could only react with a wide smile of surprise and excitement.

“You are?” she said. “You certainly are, Lieutenant? Why…that’s…wonderful to hear!”

She couldn’t help herself, but she hugged him, still smiling.

“I’m glad to hear this news,” she said. “The Theurgy could use a good, friendly individual like you. I’m glad to welcome a friend aboard.”

She broke the embrace and continued to smile.

“Don’t get me wrong, we can be excellent friends. I look forward to working with you.”

[Ensign Six | Six’s Improvised Forensics Lab/Alcove | Deck 17 | Vector 3 | USS Theurgy]

Six returned to her…workspace without much incident. She had too many things to go through to witness the reintegration of the “Stallion” with the “Sword.” She knew they’ll be linked back up.

She injected her tubules into her computer and initiated the data transfer into her systems. The Revelation Array was chief among the things in the database, she needed it on hand. While she copied and transferred her data, she took a look around her private workspace, for that is what she figured it would have to be.

For she learned from Doctor Maya, and again during her debrief with Commander Wenn, that there was already a forensics lab in the Security Centre. She still cringed at that revelation; she had spent who knows how many days ever since she “transferred” from Starbase 84, designing the Revelation Array, setting up her own forensics lab, when there was already one aboard?!?

She was determined to make the most of the forensics lab in the Security Centre, but the one she had set up already, she had decided to use for her private workspace. It seemed much safer this way, especially for her computer and necessary components.

She swore she will always be on duty, whether she was needed or not. It would be good to be on hand in any event.

The data transfer was complete. Six departed and made for the turbolift. She felt she may keep on going with the booster pack on; it didn’t seem like the right time to start a regeneration cycle on her alcove.

And on the subject of an alcove, Six hoped that the one she set up on Vector Two wasn’t in anybody’s shared, space, given how much she had learned (the hard way) how much she didn’t know about the Theurgy’s layout. She shrugged at the thought. Whoever had those quarters would be in for an interesting roommate. Otherwise, if those quarters were unoccupied…

Six decided to make for the Security Centre. It’s the most logical place to go for her duty; she doubted she’d be needed on the bridge unless she was assigned a shift on the bridge. However...

She tapped her combadge.

"Lieutenant Ejek, this is Ensign Six. I have returned from the away mission safely. What duties do you wish me for, or where do you wish me to report, if you're no longer XO of Vector Three?"

[ Cmdr Ranaan Ducote | Conference Room | Deck 08 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @chXinya @Brutus @steelphoenix @Auctor Lucan @Arista

Wenn proceeded with the briefing once everyone was seated. None of it was particularly new to Ducote but for that of the destroyed USS Harbinger and that the CO of Starbase 84 had also been infected. Or rather, if he had been told last night, his fatigue had obliterated the memory. Some quick arithmetic led him to the conclusion that the Theurgy must have attacked 84 only a few days prior - perhaps the same day or the one immediately after the Endeavour had been destroyed - which would account for the timing of the defection declaration from Ives. The Brazilian frowned a little at the conference table while he decided how he felt about all that.

His reverie was somewhat distracted by the smouldering suspicion aimed in his (and Vael's, he supposed) general direction from the Ops officer across the table. Focusing in a little, without taking his eye from the polished surface, he took a closer 'look' at the LCmdr across from him. She was processing quite a lot, it seemed, though the effort to read her properly, unfamiliar as she was, proved a little too much for his blunted empathy. That and the fact that while he'd had a chunk of uninterrupted sleep (or at least, none of the interruptions had been strident enough to actually wake him), he was still paying off a colossal sleep debt.

He listened as she gave her own succinct summation (and oh but if she could provide her example to Wenn Cinn), but couldn't help but meet her gaze as her attention rounded on him. His posture stilled again as he braced himself for the coming question.

"... but just who are you and what are you doing here?"

Was everyone on this ship so paranoid?

Saying that, could he blame them?

The news of the doctor's infestation was a clear shock, evidently having gone undetected while the man worked among them since before their current crisis. Ducote wasn't even sure that wondering what he would have done in similar circumstances was useful; he would have had far more support from the Fleet than the Theurgy could ever now expect. At first, anyway.

"Ah, yes, there was an introduction just before you arrived," he said, deciding to forgo the tired sigh that tried to escape him. "I am Commander Ranaan Ducote, and my Chief Science Officer Commander Vael Kaeris," he gestured to the Bactrican next to him. "Our ship the Endeavour was destroyed a few days ago on the fringes of this nebula by a Borg Cube. After escaping with a few others on a runabout, we were-" Don't say 'abducted', don't say 'ab- "- rescued by your second Vector," he finished with nary a pause. "Some initial misunderstanding aside, we have been here since yesterday evening ship-time."

He turned to face Wenn in his seat, urgency making him impatient to await whatever judgement the goldshirted officer cared to dispense. "Mister Kaeris has formulated a method to close those apertures, based on the telemetry taken in vicinity of the Rotarran; properly tuned torpedoes detonated inside their thresholds. With your permission, we still have enough time to make the relevant modifications." You, we. Whichever, he acknowledged his own slip.

[ CPO Liam Herrold (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Liam_Herrold) | Fighter Assault Bay | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @BZ
[Show/Hide]
With a pronounced limp, Liam Herrold walked down the length of the Fighter Bay, his light blue eyes taking in the activity. He largely ignored what the fighter pilots were doing, since they were no immediate concern of his. They had their own orders and duties, while his were to oversee the readiness of the remaining, meagre fighter complement on the Theurgy.

Six fighters. Four Valkyries, one Gryphon and one Valravn fighter. That was all that remained after the battle against the Rotarran. The fighter bay was built for sixteen. The fact of the losses couldn't be more plain, even if there were empty fighters sitting there in wait for abductees that - as rumour held it - had been liquefied at the hands of the Savi. Fed to the axe-ship. Liam wasn't sure he wanted to give credence to the rumours. These things that Doctor Nicander - the Infested - had revealed to them. It was almost escapism from that horrifying revelation, to tend to the tasks in Fighter Bay Ops, and not have to think about what had happened to K'Ren and the others that had been abducted.

Sten Covington was present as well, of course, being the common link between Eun Sae Ji's and Liam's separate teams. They had yet to speak with the grizzled old veteran about what had developed between them - Ji and himself - but perhaps he already knew. Sithick was there too, the one who'd been in the right place at the right time the evening before. Liam smiled and inclined his head to the Gorn when he sighted him.

Then, he saw the long range explorer outside the fighter bay doors, which was a curiosity... but not his concern. He eyed it, but dismissed it, so that he could call out orders to the deck crew that were gearing the fighters for a new engagement. Doing so, Liam couldn't help but wonder how many fighters would be left in the bay after it.

On the Battle Bridge of the Sword, Tyreke Okafor was seated at the Science station, and after the order of reintegration was made, he looked at how the Stallion came closer, until it vanished from view. The Sword would lower itself down unto the dorsal side of the Stallion - the partial reintegration of the Theurgy complete.

Honestly, the evening before, Tyreke had never expected to see either of the other Vectors again, given the pounding that the Sword had suffered from High Chancellor Martok. Yet somehow, Wenn Cinn had seen another chance at finding the Stallion that didn't involve the Rendezvous points in the Continuance Protocol. Instead, he had chosen to heed the officers on the Allegiant, and in an almost instinctual way, decided on a second path. A path which, as far as Tyreke could see, might just lead to success. How the Bajoran might have known what to do, and been so sure of the outcome, Tyreke didn't know. Yet having worked on Bajor for years during the war, he supposed the man had been blessed by the Prophets.

After all, they had brought him back from death. Would they not have interest in his choices afterwards?

Perhaps Tyreke was one of the few non-Bajorans that gave the Prophets credence, given his past, but it served to boost his own confidence in the mission, and wanted the partially assembled ship to head for the last Rendezvous immediately. Then again, he could understand the need for a meeting between the present officers, just to sort out the objectives on hand, and what the ideal tactics were.

When Cir'Cie opened her green eyes, she wished she hadn't. Her face grew stiff as she carefully controlled the impulse to crumple her face up in answer to the pounding headache. As it were, she just stared into the ceiling, lying perfectly still so that no sudden movements might further increase the agony.

She heard the Trill move around, and she was reminded about her mistake. She had been so intrigued by the Ter'anakul plant and its unknown properties that she'd agreed to the Trill convention of eating them. Little had she guessed just how rich in sucrose (http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Vulcans_and_choclate) the Ter'anakul plant was. Before she knew it, her careful control on her emotions had begun to slip, her inhibitions and sense of propriety gone, and the last thing she remembered before passing out, was having intense sexual relations with the Trill that had provided her with the Ter'anakul plant.

"I should be on the bridge," she said to the Trill, and then she moved her eyes - and only her eyes - to the chronometer. "Incorrect. I should be on the bridge in fourteen minutes and forty seconds."

She blinked - once - still disinclined to move. She knew she had no choice, but she was not ready yet. How could she - as a botanist - not have foreseen the lunacy of ingesting an unknown plant? She had even been a victim of the Niga virus, and now, she was the victim of another plant entirely. She took a couple of deep breaths, the sense of propriety keeping her from slipping out from underneath the twisted sheets.

"I believe... I require assistance," she said evenly, the motion of blinking again sending sharp spikes of pain across her temples. "Would you please replicate water for me, and... collect my garments. I am positive I will experience vertigo if I stand up."

Seated near the viewscreens in Below Decks, Adam Kingston sucked his teeth dry after finishing his whiskey.

He was watching the progress of the reintegration with the Sword on the digital screens in the Lounge, the view artificial since Below Decks was deep inside the Stallion. Apparently, the third Rendezvous was due, and the Sword looked like it had taken quite a beating. Perhaps they had come there to get better warp speed. Idle speculations of his, regarding matters he had little influence over. He had no idea how Wenn Cinn and his crew had managed to find them, but the safest bet was that the Allegiant had led them there. On his own part, of all that had been told to him, the fact that Wenn Cinn was still alive stood out the most. He had been there when he lost his superior officer at the hands of TFA, just before the Niga Incident.

Adam knew he shouldn't be drinking early in the morning, but he had the Beta shift, and he couldn't sleep. Thankfully, the holographic staff in the lounge was always on call.

"Another," he called, and Felicity came over, the hologram well known since the time when William Regal ran the lounge. "Thank you, lass."

[ Lieutenant Masuda Yukimura (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Masuda_Yukimura) | Conference Room | Deck 08 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: All (?)
[Show/Hide]
Present in the conference room, and the talks having begun, Masuda hadn't been able to answer Stark's query about the commander. Thankfully, Ducote had introduced himself instead. There was one thing, however, that Masuda felt was worth mentioning, since he had been present when Wenn Cinn, Tovarek and Ducote spoke with Nicander.

"Commanders, if I may?" he said, folding his hands on the table. "Nicander told us something dire, which we all may have to take into account. As Cinn said, Nicander appears to have a grasp of sanity thanks to the abilities of the Radiant, this Heather McMillan. However, he also said that when he... used his farseeing, through the eyes of other hosts, he saw Heather being killed in front of Captain Ives. And, he also said that he saw all the other abductees from the Theurgy, along with other officers he couldn't recognise, getting killed by the Savi. Liquefied alive... on a metal platform... and fed to that ship."

The silence might have lingered at that point, unless Masuda had continued. "Since Nicander could use his ability to acquire the shield harmonics of the Rotarran, we have an indication that his ability is real. Yet as for what he saw on the Versant... I suppose that it's a matter of trust in the Doctor's word, now that he is revealing things to us, allegedly trying to help. That being said, since we don't know for certain where the host ends and the parasite begins... There is no guarantee that it's the truth."

The grim prospect of it, was that Masuda couldn't see any reason why Nicander might make that up, unless the Doctor wanted them fully committed to the Borg threat. Which, as far as he knew, they already were. "The rumours of what may have happened to the abductees are already out there, and I think it needed to be said here, before any decision is made. We may have to give up hope on retrieving those we lost, the Captain included. I personally think it is obvious how the Borg threat should remain our priority. If we can open the apertures and then seal them with torpedoes... that's what we should do, but unless we make it to the third Rendezvous, we have lost a third of our ship, and may not be equipped for the battle."

Masuda fell silent then, hating to be the bringer of bad news, even if he felt it was important that Stark and Ziegler knew of the Abductees.

Before Ziegler had the chance to continue conversing with Commander Ducote, Wenn Cinn called the meeting to order. Throughout the various reports, she kept quiet. Silently taking in the news each officer brought to the table. It was a difficult and tough situation, though some she had already known, it was still difficult to hear Cinn talk of Dr Nicander in the way he did. She knew the gross violation she felt in her stomach was little in comparison to what the other officers from the Theurgy had been through, but it was still there and still relevant.

“Thank you all for your work. This whole situation continues to put into perspective that these are dark times and there is still much to do.” As Anya spoke, she looked over the assembled officers in the room. “We must stop this parasite threat, but before that we mustn’t allow them to get their hands on the Borg. To ensure we pre-emptively defeat this invasion, we need all three vectors of the Theurgy. However, each moment we wait we run the risk of hundreds of cubes pouring into the Azure nebula.

“Thanks to the help of Captain Stark and her crew, Cayuga flies again. So, I feel the answer is simple. I will take my ship to the Borg and do what I can to stop these apertures. Cinn, make haste to your third rendezvous and collect Vector 1.” Anya gave a small smile to Stark as she commented on the great work the operations officer had accomplished while in command, then her tone shifted to one more serious.

Once again, she was throwing herself into the lion’s den. This time with little or no chance of survival. Needs must, she reminded herself. Captains make tough choices and sacrifice all to ensure the very safety of our Federation. Clasping her hands on the table in front of her, she felt the intertwined fingers against each other. A physical reminder to herself that if all the parts worked together, they could accomplish any undertaking.

Cayuga won’t last long in a fight, but if I can seal some of these apertures then we can stem the flow by the time Theurgy arrives to finish the task.”

Her next words were difficult, but she attempted to give them with conviction, even if she didn’t want to imagine the case they were not.

“Captain Ives, if he still lives, will have to wait.”

[ Lt. Zelosa Ejek | Bridge | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ] @Multificionado

As the trusty crew of the Theurgy brought the vectors together, the Cardassian XO couldn’t help but feel...warmth. Warmth in her chest, because despite everything holding them back, they did it. The odds stacked against them, but they were all still here, and vectors 02 and 03 were joining. She wasn’t sure if she actually had anything to do with this outcome, but she felt proud nonetheless. If not proud of her own actions, then proud of her crew. In fact, as grateful as she was to still be alive, she thought maybe she ought to say something...

But no. The sound of her combadge stopped her train of thought. Once more, Ejek’s cold hand found it’s way to her face and she rubbed her forehead, on either side of her spoon. There to break her warm and sunny disposition was Six, who apparently was...clinging to Ejek, in some way. She would’ve made an exception if Six had just sent her a message privately, or if she was unable to contact Kingston. No, Six just contacted her, specifically, for no reason that Ejek could discern. To ask her what to do. Ejek did not assume Six was the sort of person who needed constant direction before this moment, but the bar keeps getting lowered and lowered...

“Ensign.” She spoke, her cold voice carrying even through the combadge. “I assume, since you are contacting me, that you are both unable to think of something to do and unable to contact the acting chief of security, Adam Kingston—the officer you should be reporting to. The former, a reflection of your capacity to think for yourself, I could address if we were in my counseling office, but we are not. The latter is far more concerning. After all, if you’re unable to communicate with the lieutenant, that must mean something has happened to him. I assume,” She continued, “that you did seek out your commanding officer before you spoke to me during such a critical moment that requires all my attention.”

She already knew the answer. She folded her hands and simmered. Just when things were looking right, and she had faith in this new crew, someone just had to come by and ruin her day. Right when she was starting to believe these people were competent too. That’s what she gets, she supposed.

She refocused her attention to the viewscreen, watching the two vectors join up once more. It was more important than Six right now.

[ Lt Cmdr Vael Kaeris | Conference Room | Deck 08 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @chXinya @Brutus @Auctor Lucan @Arista @Top Hat

For his part, Vael had remained quiet, allowing those in command to discuss strategies among themselves.  Rather, aside from providing his observations and discoveries regarding the apertures and the base necessities required to attempt a disruption in the Collectives' would-be point of access, he had set himself to replicating his data across as many PADDs as possible.  This was not a task for a single vessel and the more ships at the ready only served to increase the odds of their success, even if only incrementally.

At last, he slid one PADD to each commanding officer, leaving one for himself as he cleared his throat.  "I have taken the liberty of providing each of you with the base harmonics and resonance frequencies employed to open the apertures.  Keep in mind that a delicate touch is needed to unlock the threshold -- simply punching the door with all the power you can give will do nothing but exhaust your resources and leave you vulnerable to the inevitable retaliation."

Tapping out commands on his own PADD, he called up a series of schematics on the nearby overhead display.  "I do not recommend taking any vessel into the breach.  Properly shielding the ship would also prove taxing, even if it could be set up properly in the time frames we are facing.  Instead, as has been proposed, we should look at shielding as many torpedoes as possible.  A detonation sequence along this vector should be sufficient to cause the aperture to collapse."

Taking a deep breath, he regarded those sitting around the table, his expression unreadable.  "We are operating off conjecture and speculation.  I wish that I could provide a more solid recommendation, but in the absence of empirical data to confirm my theories, the likelihood of success is 24.328%."  Taking his sear beside Ducote once more, he concluded, "I have also incorporated what I could of the data we were reviewing before the Endeavour was attacked.  Unfortunately, we were unable to download everything on to the Niger in the midst of the battle, but I did my best to recreate as much as I could from memory."

His dark eyes turned to Ducote as he spoke, almost as if his admission was meant as an apology for some failure of his own.  "Under the circumstances, I cannot be certain as to the accuracy of my recollection.  Some of the calculations may be off, but I did what I could."

Six blinked in surprise at Ejek's words. Both of those choices were somewhat accurate; she couldn't think of what to be doing, and she was unable to contact this Adam Kingston, but for different reasons. For the former, she didn't know what to do at the moment, something that surely didn't require a shrink. For the latter, she didn't know who the acting chief of security was, and she never heard of Adam Kingston before. In point of fact, she never met him before, not even when she joined the Theurgy.

In any case, if he was the acting chief of security - well, the ranking deputy, in any case, given the reunion of the vectors, with the absence of Lieutenant zh'Wann - then it would be most logical to report to him, given Commander Wenn would be busy.

"Computer, locate Adam Kingston," Six inquired.

[Adam Kingston is in the Below Decks Lounge.]

Another lounge? Didn't she just leave one to get back to the Allegiant? And how many lounges were there on the Theurgy?

"Where might I locate the Below Decks Lounge?"

[The Below Decks Lounge is in Deck 28.]

Made sense. Seems like a fitting name, it's almost at the bottom of the ship. Six made for the nearest turbolift.

[ Ensign Six | Below Decks Lounge | Deck 28 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ]

The moment Six walked into the lounge, she walked right through a bartender. Literally. Six was surprised to have walked through him, and the fact that he smiled back like it was nothing...was the man a hologram?
[Show/Hide]

"Why, welcome to the Below Decks Lounge," he said. "My name is Taliesin. Do you wish for a beverage?"

"Not at the moment, Taliesin, but thank you," said Six, looking around. It had to be the most amazing lounge she ever saw. There was a stage and everything, complete with holographic waiters.

Doc would love this place, thought Six, thinking of Voyager's EMH. She could imagine him singing tunes on that stage to his heart's content.

Pushing the thought aside, Six spotted Kingston near the stage and the…of course it was a viewscreen, it was too deep into the ship for windows. Kingston was easily the most noticeable person around; he was the only other person in uniform.

"Adam Kingston?" she asked, approaching him.
[Show/Hide]

"Who wants to know, kid?" he said gruffly, raising a glass of whiskey to drink. Six pursed her lips. This was the third person she met to somewhat refer to her youthfulness despite her maturity. Or did she sound like she was still a teenager?

"Ensign Six, Forensics Officer, Security Department," she answered, somewhat slightly offended at being called "kid."

"What kind of a name is that?" said Kingston, turning with his brow furrowed. The furrow became even more pronounced as he stared at her, giving her a once-over. "What in the f...?"

"I was told to report to you, Lieutenant, given you're the ranking deputy," said Six, noting the pips on Kingston's collar. "Commander Wenn may be busy at the moment as Vectors Two and Three reintegrate," she added, nodding at the viewscreen as the merger completed. "Though, honestly, I never even heard of you until today..."

She then noticed that he was leaning his head side to side, like he was checking out her ears.

"Sir?"

"I don't see any points on those ears, kid, but you sound like a Vulcan," he answered. "But what's with the...?" He gestured at the implants.

"Oh. Well, I'm a former Borg drone from the Delta Quadrant," Six answered.

"Makes sense," said Kingston. "With all the big words, I would've taken you for a Vulcan. Where'd you come from anyway? And don't tell me the Delta Quadrant, you said you were an ensign."

"Starbase 84," answered Six. "I joined with other officers to the Theurgy when the Starbase was destroyed. But where did you come from? And don't tell me Earth. What I mean is...where did you come from if I didn't hear of you?"

"You never heard o' me before?" said Kingston. "Eh, not surprised. I've been frozen after the scrape with the Calamity."

"Frozen...? Oh, you were in stasis?" said Six. That made more sense now.

"That's right, kid," said Kingston. "Woke up recently to squash an Asurian prison riot.”

"Asurians? I thought we beat them in saving the Cayuga," said Six in surprise. "And how did they get free?"

"You bunch may have missed one. Big ugly slut, the ringleader. Busted 'em out, nearly got away, but we managed to stop them just in time, but not before we lost a lot of good people to those ugly suckers."

Six nodded solemnly. She didn’t like the idea of having to face an Asurian, let alone gunning them down, endangered as they are.

"Well, it's a pity," said Six. "But on the other hand...good riddance."

"There’s still a few left alive," corrected Kingston abruptly. "About four. And why pity the ugly suckers?”

“They’re endangered, in case you didn’t know that, looking at intel about the Asurians,” Six pointed out.

“Huh. Might’ve missed a few things. Now, where in the security department did you say you work in?"

"Forensics, sir."

"Forensics? We don't have any bodies for you to examine...not at the moment. What else ya got?"

"Well, with my Borg implants, I'm something of an unofficial hacker," said Six. "I used those skills to delay the countdown of the ship Resolve to help its crew evacuate. I used them again to help improve the odds when the Cayuga and Vector Three were attacked by Asurians, before you were awoken from stasis, that is."

"Really?" said Kingston, taking an increased interest in the Borg kid. "Wouldn't be surprised, with what you got."

He gestured at the eye again. Six smiled.

"Thanks," she said. "And my implants form something of a computer in my person. Literally."

"I'll say. What did you do to help the odds in that first sortie with the Asurians?"

"Hacked into the communications array of an impounded…for want of a better word…Asurian saucer in the shuttlebay," said Six. "I sent viral matrices through a hailing frequency to cause confusion. For instance, one I sent to a saucer sent in incorrect coordinates. Sent it on a collision course with a saucer that was dead in the water."

"Day-yum," said Kingston, stressing the last syllable in astonishment.

"Don't think I singlehandedly finished the battle, though," said Six, to forestall any assumptions. "Other people had a hand in improving the odds, like Ensign Mariner, also in Security, who helped stop a boarding party. Also, don't think I'd be proficient at deadly viruses, I'm not that coldblooded. I'd prefer small ones to cause confusion."

"I'll be sure to have a word with this Mariner later," said Kingston. "You seem the cocky type, kid, but at least you got a level head. I think you'd be handy in a boarding party."

"My thoughts exactly, sir," replied Six. "I haven't tested how quickly I can hack a lock. I could practice, but now's not the time."

"No indeed, if you came looking for me to report for duty."

"Yes, sir."

Kingston began thinking a moment. He gave Six another once-over. The kid was small, but she looked agile. That and the Borg implants would probably help her reflexes, and it would make her an excellent shot.

“How good of a shot are you, ensign?”

"Never gave my marksmanship any thought," said Six. Seemed that she may be heading to the Security Center anyway. She was starting to think it wise to steer clear of Ejek for now; she didn't seem happy. In fact, Six was getting the impression Ejek wasn't liking her. It may be unlikely for the two to be friends, but they'd be okay as colleagues.

"Well, might I suggest the phaser range? Security Center? You look like a good shot. Maybe you could get some target practice in. We’ll talk later, when I’m on duty, unless we come across a stiff that needs examining."

"Stiff? Oh," said Six, realizing Kingston was referring to a body. "Well, of course, sir."

"Then later, I can assign drills for you to practice lockpicking in boarding party situations. Now off you get. Dismissed."

"Affirmative, sir!" Six then departed. She had a little respect for Kingston, being the ranking deputy, but once she got to know him better, at least as a superior, things would work out okay. She wondered how many other people would refer to her youthfulness, that they could see, deep down, she was still a child.

Well, it seemed she may have some more maturing to do, if others regarded her like a child.

[Lt. Rhys Williams | Corridors| Deck 15 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Doc .M

Rhys' progress was eventually interrupted by a voice and rapidly moving feet. He felt his heart rate pick up as adrenaline pumped straight to his muscles. Terrified for a moment he was under attack, he instantly relaxed when he was approached by a young woman. From her insignia which, with his head feeling how it did he was struggling to make out, he worked out she was a petty officer. Possibly anyway, he was not hundred percent sure.

He had been reluctant to stay, but as she removed the medical device from his forehead, he found it hard to argue. Rhys to be honest was in a very strange place. He was not thinking clearly, and the only thing he was sure of was that he was not thinking clearly. Perhaps it was better to defer to someone else's brain for now.  He sighed heavily and allowed himself to be led back to sickbay. He suddenly felt very guilty, here he was causing bother for the overstretched medical crew. His cheeks burned a little in embarrassment and the way he felt like such a fool. "I am sorry." The words felt weak, but he clearly meant them. "The er..." he waved his hand in the air in front of him as he tried to formulate the words. "...the cobwebs are still there." He said slowly as the words came to him. His voice felt odd, like the strange halting speech of a drunk, it also seemed to him to be coming from quite a way a way.

As Lieutenant Rhys Williams was led back into the Stallion’s sickbay, Lieutenant George Hernandez, M.D. greeted them.  “Ah Lieutenant, so good of you to join us.  It’s always so upsetting when one loses a patient,” he purred.  “Although I can hardly blame you for leaving, we really do need the space,” he added grimly.  With the exception of the biobed that Rhys had left, every one of the other beds in the room had another patient lying atop it.  “Let’s have a look at you and see if we’re ready to release you,” he said as he gestured to the biobed that Rhys had just left.

[ Lieutenant Vanya | Sickbay | Deck 15 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy | Attn: @Juzzie , @Doc M.  ., anyone else in sickbay

Lt Vanya was currently in the Theurgy’s sickbay aboard the Stallion. In the preceding hours as the ships had been effecting repairs, so had Vanya. Her arm had been damaged in hand to hand combat with the escapees and she needed to tend to it. It had taken a bit of time to tend to her ‘injury’ as her  dutoronium endoskeleton was not as easily mended as organic bone. It could be repaired though and with the swarms of Engineers and Ops officers moving about both ships she had put in a request for some assistance in the fix.

That had been far down the list of crucial repairs needed to either ship, so Vanya had waited as patiently as she may. Finally the Engineer from Theurgy had shown up with her amazing tools and together with Vanya’s own spec’s and knowledge of her own make up and design parameters the arm was repaired and put back to full function.

Vanya had thanked the Engineer for her assistance and let them get back to the hundreds of systems or items on the repair list. One android’s arm being a check in a list that seemed to stretch light years. It was a unique repair though and one for the Engineer’s table. To be discussed with others, should they all live through the upcoming engagements.

Vanya then had to effect self repair. Her bioflesh was self regenerating and could completely sheath a denuded skeleton in 24 hours if need be, but it took resources and left her looking rather grizzly by most standards. As she was working with an integrated crew now it would do better should the flesh be repaired more swiftly. Scaring the pants off of new officers and enlisted personnel was to be avoided if possible.

The Cayuga’s sickbay had been utterly destroyed and wasn’t the sort of thing a few hydrospanners and welding torches could put to right in the few hours that the crews had to effect repairs. So she had requested transport to Theurgy. Transport had been approved and she moved through the halls of The Stallion. Stopping to check the LCARS now and then to orient herself and make her way to where she needed to be. Deck 15, Vector 03.

Once there she noted the standing room only capacity of the sickbay. A furrow of her brows and she nodded to a nurse who came up to her.

“Can I help you Lieutenant?”

Vanya had simply held up her arm and articulated her fingers. The lack of flesh made it a metallic gesture not a flesh and blood one. The nurse’s eyes had widened.

“Oh… damn! Maybe we need to find you a place to sit down!”

Vanya had offered a gentle smile across her attractive Romulan visage.    “Uneeded Nurse, just point me to a corner and toss me a dermal regenerator. I can see to it.”

“Are you sure? That looks…. severe”

Vanya had nodded.  “Quite. Regeneration could occur on it’s own but I’m hoping to expedite the process and get back to work. I wouldn’t want to take you away from more critical patients. ”

Vanya didn’t point out that she also missed the tactile sensations that the bio-flesh provided and with out it felt like she was missing out on a 5th of the universe.

The nurse had looked a touch skeptical. Usually people waving around flesh-less bone appendages needed a good bit of care. Be it metal or organic bone being flapped about, but the Romulan officer seemed quite sure of herself. It didn’t hurt she stood 6’2” and had that Romulan…. Surety.

The nurse had nodded and lead her over to an out of the way place and given her the requested instrument. Vanya had thanked her politely. Didn’t hurt to be nice to the Medical team… - especially – the medical team, and.. for Vanya the Engineering department as well.

So she had been passing the regenerator over her forearm. Slowly rebuilding the flesh from elbow towards fingertips when Rhys had sat up suddenly and stumbled out of Sickbay into the hall. A look of curiosity and a bit of confusion had crossed Vanya’s face. Before she could act, nurse Jones had scampered out after him and returned in short order. Turns out that Rhys’ biobed was close to the counter at which Vanya was effecting self repair. Er.. Self healing? Both? Sometimes it could be hard to qualify for her unique situation.

Vanya looked over to Rhys, Nurse Jones and now Dr Hernandez. A nod was offered to the Trio and she addressed the Counselor.

“You ok there, Counselor Williams?”

[ CPO Ekon Okotie-Eboh | Bridge | USS Allegiant NX -80978 > Docking Bay Lounge | Deck 19 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Numen @Nolan

Eboh grunted as Lieutenant Izar pointed out yet another obstacle for him to avoid, shifting himself to maneuver around it while maintaining his grip on the cumbersome device he found himself lugging through the corridors, maintaining a balancing act with the ORE and the vaccines, as well as the duffle he had slung across his chest. All in all, it made such maneuvers annoying and tiresome. To make matter worse, the annoying half-Cardie scientist’s prattling did little to improve the large man’s mood as they made they way along.

The dark skinned man’s mood brightened visibly when Izar scampered ahead, seeming to think himself out of earshot. Eboh shuffled along under the weight of his burden, but glanced up as the officer tapped his combadge, Eboh having been alerted by the audible chirp the scientist’s badge let out. An impish grin spread across the Chief’s features as he heard Izar’s voice identify who he was contacting. ”Junior Lieutenant Izar to Petty Officer Benmual.”

So the geeky grey-skin knew Kythalie, did he? And was that the hint of a nervous quaver in the man’s voice? ”I… well… I… I’m alive.” Eboh listened as he shuffled along, eyes shining with mischief as he heard the rest of the exchange, albeit faintly. Izar had misjudged the distance to put himself out of earshot, though Eboh still had to strain to hear. He quickly schooled his face back to seriousness, not wanting to give the game away.

This was going to be fun.

Even as the thought struck him, he heard more of the exchange. Izar was hardly a smooth operator, stammering and fumbling with his words. The man was just plain awkward. ”O-o-only if you can a-and want to, of course.”

Not so smooth with the lines, are you Frankenspoon? Eboh thought to himself, shifting his grip on the ORE as he suppressed a chuckle. Kythalie’s going to eat you alive… Eboh had known Kythalie for years, and the thought of the cheeky security NCO tormenting the scientist was a pleasant one. He heard the familiar voice of PO Benmual emanating from Izar’s badge, though he was too far away to heard what was said. Izar’s reaction was enough to tell Eboh that she had accepted, the man’s body language seemed to straighten and look less sickly, while the genuine smile that broke across his features spoke volumes. It almost made him look less like a mad scientist. Almost. Eboh continued shuffling along, making his way closer before calling out.

”Tell Kythalie “The Oldie says hello”, Lieutenant!” He called to Izar as he shifted his grip on the ORE again. The half El-Aurian was unable to suppress the smile that spread across his features as he spoke, suspecting he might spoil the other man’s mood slightly. He waited for the rest of the exchange to finish and the comm line to close before he spoke again.

”Why Lieutenant, was that a date I heard you proposing? And with the wild-haired Kythalie Benmual, no less!” Eboh’s deep, accented voice was thick with cheer as he spoke, the broad smile he directed as the Cardassian/Bajoran hybrid heavy with mischief. ”If you are looking to impress, white wine and scallops are sure to do the trick.” Eboh gave the grey skinned scientist a wink as he slowly shuffled past the man, a deep chuckle emanating from his chest as he went. Truth be told, he and Kythalie had been friends for years following a date that had turned sour, but he was hardly about to divulge that particular tidbit of information to Izar. No, it would be much more fun to let the man stew over what had already been said.

Eboh's mood seemed much brighter as he continued to shuffle along, the burden of the Omicron Radiation Emitter seeming lighter. Yes, his arms were beginning to feel the strain of carrying it for so long, but the joy at the scientist's discomfort was more than satisfactory compensation for the labour.

[ PO3 Lillee t’Jellaieu (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Lillee_t%27Jellaieu) | Bridge | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @FollowTomorrow

The Allegiant's mission was complete, accomplished with a result quite beyond Lillee's expectations. She had fully expected it to be a suicide mission, but quite to her (and everyone else's) surprise, fortune stepped in. They not only evaded detection by the Borg, but they also detected the Borg beachhead, found the lost second vector of the Theurgy and helped rid the Sword of its Klingon assailants. The mission had been a complete success.

The dozen destroyed starships and thousands of dead people that they had found were merely a footnote, it seemed.

After finishing the docking proceedure that returned the Allegiant to its docking berth, everyone dispersed to their duties, Lillee among them. Everything was moving at such a frantic pace that there was no time to consult shift schedules or report to superior officers. The Theurgy had been at more or less constant high alert for days now, rendering such things moot, leaving everyone to simply figure out for themselves where to go and what to do. It was a helter skelter state of affairs that was intensely unsettling, allowing no time or opportunity for anyone to center themselves.

It was damn near enough to drink a girl to drink, and as she strode down the Stallion's corridors towards her (temporary) quarters, Lillee admonished herself to do just that as soon as time and duty permitted. More than anything else, she was simply tired. She knew her duty and she'd unquestioningly fly the Theurgy during the ship's battle against the Borg, but by the fires of Eisn, she wanted a few days to simply absorb it all.

Waging a war was hard, yes. But waging a war amidst total strangers, a war when one was not even sure of the war's truth or righteousness? That was an even harsher poison in Lillee's spirit. Thus, the blonde Romulan was less vivacious than usual as she bore her honour-blade back to her quarters, grimly settling her old friend in a closet before grabbing a change of uniform, eschewing the indulgence of a shower. Minutes later, Lillee returned to the Bridge to find the Sword and the Stallion in the midst of reintegration. Commander Stark was apparently away, in conference with her peers, leaving Lieutenant Zelosa Ejek in command during the docking procedure.

"Sir," Lillee greeted Lieutenant Ejek politely, bowing her head respectfully before making her way to the CONN to relieve the exhausted Bajoran woman there. Sliding into the chair, Lillee gamely went about monitoring the reintegration process. Little was required of the Stallion besides simply staying still since it was the Sword that instigated the maneuver, but she nevertheless monitored carefully, advising her counterpart on the Sword whenever they strayed off the optimum angle or velocity for docking atop the Stallion.

Throughout it all, her hand stayed poised over her own helm controls. It was likely unnecessary, to be sure, but Lillee stayed in control, her eyes focused on her console and the viewscreen with obsessive focus, her long blonde locks utterly still around her face. The time would come when they'd see peace again...and when she could see her twins once more. Reuniting with the Sword was only the first step.

The time would come.

[Lt. Rhys Williams| Sickbay | Deck 15 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy] Attn: @Doc M. @Cosmos

Rhys coloured a little at how understanding this nurse was being. He realised of course it was part of her job, but it made him feel more than a little ashamed. He was being a nuisance to these people. Shame was something Rhys understood well, it was such a strong part of his psychological make up.

He was a mixture of neurosis, fear, social awkwardness, shyness, and an inferiority complex one could drown in. He was tall and well built, a life long swimmer who had been jumping into the seas and water ways around Wales most of his child hood. When he was nervous or embarrassed, he would fidget constantly with his hands. Sometimes his leg would jiggle hyperactively like it wanted to be some where else.

He was a mess in all sorts of ways, but in spite of that or maybe because of that he was actually a pretty could counsellor. Softly spoken and empathetic, and despite being an officer, a man who was reluctant to tell people what to do.

Rhys laughed nervously at the Doctor’s joke about loosing patients. To be honest Rhys had not really heard it. He was struggling still to focus on what other people were saying to him, but from the man’s tone of voice he had gathered it was meant to be amusing.

He took his seat on the biobed and waited to be examined. He heard a question and turned to the side to look at Vanya. She seemed familiar but again the fogginess in his head prevented him from completely recognising her. His eyes seemed glazed and unfocused, he was looking at her but not really seeing her. “Oh my head is a little sore that is all.” Anyone who knew him even a little would know his penchant for understatement. What he had said likely actually meant, ‘My head feels like there are drunk Klingons having a party in it!’

“Are you ok…” he paused the name was not coming… he looked at her insignia “Lieutenant?” He laughed shyly again and smiled. “To be hundred percent truthful, I am not really sure what ship I am on. I am a little confused.” He felt really stupid right now and he blushed faintly. He remembered fighting the Cayuga but that was about it. He had been talking with someone, and then had been attacked from behind, his head had been smashed into the ground with some force. He remembered the taste of blood and descending fog, worse was the rising tide of anger. It had allowed him when the Ausrian had been distracted to assault it with every fibre of his being. The rest was hidden behind a haze.

[ Lieutenant Vanya (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Vanya) | Sickbay | Deck 15 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Juzzie @Doc M.

[Show/Hide]

Vanya watched the interactions of Lieutenant Williams and her head tilted to the side, one of those pointed Romulan brows raising in curiosity or concern.  The replies were disjointed and he seemed dazed. They had served on the same ship for some time, and she was a smallish ship, most especially compared to this one. So for him to not remember her was a bit concerning as well.

Pausing in the regeneration of the flesh on her forearm she stepped closer to the Counselors bed, but made sure to stay clear of the Doctor and nurse.

Starfleet didn’t wear nametags, so Vanya wasn’t yet personally acquainted with Dr Hernandez or Nurse Jones, but they were wearing blue, in a sickbay, and with a few seconds of observation it was easy to make a guess. Rank helped as well.

“Doctor, his baseline is usually more cognizant than this. He may be a bit more out of sorts than he is indicating. His injuries could more than they appear at first glance.”

She looked down to Rhys on the bed.   “Let these people help you, Counselor. Just as you help those with wounded minds. They are here to help those with wounded bodies. They’ll see you right.”

The statuesque Romulan looked down to Rhys on the bed. Perhaps not with compassion but with understanding. If anyone could ‘get into their own head’ it was her, and some of the existential questions she mulled over on a daily basis would make some biologicals head’s spin. So she had very likely been in to see the counseling staff, either on her own or by ‘firm suggestion’ more than once.

Her hand, the one with flesh, - not – the one half covered, came up and gently touched Rhys’ shoulder.

“Let them do their job, Lieutenant. The crew will need you at your best, very soon I suspect. Things are…. unique and we will most certainly be in need of your specific skill-set.”

Lt. JG Izar Bila (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Izar_Bila)| Bridge | Corridors | Deck 19 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy]
[Show/Hide]

@Fife @Nolan

The professional and cold tone with which Kythalie responded to his call caused the chemist's shoulders to sink in just as his hope  crumbled by a simple sentence. Without knowing  how to answer that impersonal remark, he limited himself to open and close his mouth several times, like a fish gasping out of the water, with his fingers still stuck over his combadge let that the communication was kept open. Before Bila made any gurgling sound that embarrassed them both, the petty officer accepted his invitation to meet him before returning to the Cayuga. The slight coquettish tone in her words made the blush return to the cheeks of the hybrid, along with a hopeful smile. A true smile. Very different from the impish smirk with which he used to adorn himself. "I'-i-i will look out for it," he stuttered awkwardly in a strangled voice, after almost a minute where he only managed got his Adam's apple moving slightly without producing any coherent sound. Not wanting to tempt his luck even further, Bila moved his elegant fingers away from the communicator, suddenly cutting off the contact with the petty officer. Possibly it hadn't been one of the more outstanding conversations of his career, but he cared little. That odd warm feeling that Benmual brought to his chest almost made those awkward moments worthwhile.

However, that well-being was short-lived due Eboh appeared at his side, asking him to greet Kyth on his behalf.  The smile soured in the half-cardassian's lips, and the colour disappeared from his cheeks as quickly as it had appeared. " 'Oldie'...  I'm growing tired of know-it-all old men" He bitterly muttered, resuming his pace. But obviously, Okotie-Eboh couldn't keep his mouth shut without rubbing salt in the wound, boasting without much finesse of knowing everything about Benmual's culinary tastes, surely better than the half-cardassian himself. And, obviously, mocking his clumsy proposition. Precisely what Bila less needed at that time. The embarrassment made him remain silent the short distance that separated them to reaching one of the turbolifts. When they entered in the device and it began to move, Bila allowed himself to turn his pale gray face to the dark-skined giant and spat. "Petty Officer, you don't need to use your tongue to comply the task that I've assigned you, and given your inability to use it for anything productive, I warn you that the next time you address me for something other than your current job, I'll add a reprimand on your permanent records." Resorting to his superior rank as revenge was plainly childlish, and Izar was well aware of it. But he was especially upset for the full situation, and his brain wasn't agile enough at that moment to find a more informal threat. Eboh has managed to annoy him more than anyone else in a time and he had had more than enough of his words for a time.

[Lt. Cmdr. Natalie Stark, Captain | Bridge| Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ]Attn:
[Show/Hide]

Two months ago, Natalie would have been shocked at the thought of picking up crew from a destroyed ship. But considering the events involving the Harbinger and the Resolve, the fact that Wenn's vector had managed to stumble onto the survivors of the apparently late USS Endeavour really didn't come as a shock to Natalie. In fact, the now former captain found that to be an extremely believable explanation for the appearance of the unfamiliar officer.

What does that say about me? she silently asked herself. She also had to wonder how the man felt, taking orders from the burly Bajoran, whom was in charge of the vector - the vectors, now, she amended, given that this Ducoute fellow outranked Cinn.  Her eyes darted between the two officers from the other ship, then to her fellow Theurgiest. What a damned mess, she concluded. Aloud, she said, "I'm very sorry for your loss. I wish this wasn't the first time I've seen something along these lines, but I have a feeling that unless we rise to the occasion, there's going to be a lot more losses like yours."

From that point on, she leaned back and listened and tried to keep her face impassive. Thrust into command over the past few days, she'd had some good practice and hiding what she was thinking. Like the horrifying thought of her crewmembers - people she knew and cared about, called friends, or saw as mentors - turned to liquid to feed a starship. Or the impending doom promised them all by an invasion of Borg cubes out of the Delta Quadrant - and the equally horrifying prospect of the parasites infecting the collective.

Endgame, she thought, repressing a shudder.

Her heard swung to the side, catching Captain Ziegler's eyes. The senior officer at the table, and for once, one Natalie was glad to be able to defer to. Unlike Ducote, whom she assumed was probably a reasonable chap - given no evidence to the contrary - she trusted Anya. Anya knew them. Once she'd gotten her head out of her ass, Natalie understood that. This other man was an outsider. Not Anya.

This didn't mean that Natalie liked what the woman purposed. But it meant she put high stock in her opinion, and...agreed. Even if it sat ill with her, and made her stomach curl in on itself. Plenty of that had been happening over the past few days. Have to see Dr. Nicander about a cure for sour stomach.

Only when she finished the thought, and remembered that the 'good doctor' was harboring one of those self same parasites that wanted to kill them all did her face pale. She had to struggle to repress the urge to vomit, tasking the acrid bile in the back of her throat. He'd laid his hands on me...not now Nat, not now.

Mastering her dismay, the brunette swept a stray hair back, behind her ear. Deciding that she needed to book some time with a counselor, and soon, for her own sanity's sake, the Ops Chief and - she supposed - XO of the combined Ranger looked over the report from the other stranger at the table, Vael Kaeris, as Ducote had called him.

"We have a fairly good science team here, Commander," she said to  Kaeris, tapping the PADD lightly against the top of the desk, before looking to Wenn. Treading carefully - since she was no long in charge of things - Natalie suggested, "Run it by them. Send a copy of the files with the Cayuga so that Captain Ziegler's people can take a look at it as well, as they move back to the aperture site." She really didn't want to think about Anya going off alone. Unable to help it, she looked at the woman.

"We'll warp over to join you as soon as we retrieve the Helmet," Wenn Cinn would have the final word there - or she supposed, Carrigan Trent, as he would be in overall command once they reunited.

OOC: Didn't feel like there was all that much that Natalie could do to move the plot forward.

[Lt. Commander Wenn Cinn | Conference Room | Deck 8 | Vector 2 | USS Theurgy]

Cinn sat in silence as the rest of the meetings attendees reacted to his portion of the briefing.  Those who didn’t know about Nicander reacted as he expected they would, the shock on Stark’s face the most evident.  Anya was more reserved about it, her command experience clearly giving her a more practiced poker face. To the Bajoran’s surprise however, everyone was very quick to pitch solutions to their situation, quickly identifying the main objectives before he could lay them out.  Such foresight warmed the old soldier’s heart, bringing a small smile to his face.

Ducote managed to jump in as well, and instead of trying to find a way off the ship he actually provided information that could help with the Borg.  That made sense of course, while the man clearly had no desire to remain on the Theurgy one second longer than necessary his need for revenge on the Borg was clearly driving the man.  Normally Cinn would talk someone out of throwing themselves at those cybernetic nightmares, but they all knew the existential threat they presented.  The clock was ticking, and they were running out of time.  Anya even managed to save Cinn from asking the one thing he dreaded, volunteering her ship to singlehandedly face the Borg (at least until the Theurgy arrived to back them up.)  At least Vael’s torpedo idea could help even the odds.

“I know these are the kind of situations that none of us signed up to deal with, the past few  months have been one long nightmare that plagues us no matter how far we go.  However,” Cinn gripped the PADD Kaeris slid across the table for emphasis, “the end is in sight.  Captain Zeigler, as Commander Stark said, you will not face the Borg alone any longer than necessary.  The moment we’ve reintegrated with Vector 1 or determined they are not at the rendezvous we will return at maximum warp.  If something goes wrong, do not hesitate to signal and we will abort and return.”

Outside the window behind him, Vector 3 disappeared from view, and shortly thereafter the entire ship shuddered as they came into contact and locked together.  Now reintegrated, the systems would sync up and control would be assumed by the most primary battle bridge.  However, thanks to the damage from earlier, that wasn’t a good option.  “Commander Stark, I’d like for you to remain in the Vector 3 bridge as XO until we integrate with the Helmet.  I’ll join you there as Commanding Officer, our battle bridge took some damage in our fight with Martok and we’re down some consoles.”  Looking at the others in the room, “I’ll draw up a bridge crew list before we depart.”

Pressing his dark palms into the table, Cinn pushed himself out of the chair.  “Time is short, and unless someone has something else to bring up we best get to it.  May the Prophets guide us all and show us Their favor.”

[ Cmdr Ranaan Ducote | Conference Room | Deck 08 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @Auctor Lucan @Arista @chXinya @Brutus @steelphoenix

"I'm very sorry for your loss. I wish this wasn't the first time I've seen something along these lines, but I have a feeling that unless we rise to the occasion, there's going to be a lot more losses like yours."

Ducote nodded, unsure what there was to say. "Thank you."

As ever, a Vulcan might be proud of Vael's attention to detail, and how precise even his estimations were. It was always nicer to gamble when you knew the odds, in Ducote's opinion. He was distracted a little from his science officer's brief by the Ops commander across from him; while she had at least taken his explanation as read without the rigmarole he had cynically expected, there was something else under the surface.

As ever. Imagine that, a person having a layered thought process?

Something personal. And poignant enough to be leaving a bitter taste in his mouth from all the way over here. He figured he could probably spend a fair minute deducing a list of likelihoods, or he could get back to the meeting. Mercifully, it was short. Kaeris' suggestions were taken without protest, and even referred on to the Cayuga... he'd have to forcibly rearrange his preconceptions at this rate.

It was difficult not to slump back in his seat with relief at the final verdict from Wenn and the others. It could be argued that they were acting only out of self-preservation, but he had enough faith in his remaining empathic talents to have been able to spot such a cowardly angle on the act. They were doing it because it was right, and they weren't abandoning a 'loyal' ship of the Fleet either.

Wenn dismissed them. Ducote rose with him, glancing at Captain Ziegler. He wondered.

"Go on ahead," he murmured to Vael. "I'll catch up."

He lurked outside the doors to the conference room as everyone filed out, leaning back against the bulkhead. He waited until the proud brunette appeared, and neatly cut off the flunky that stepped forward to offer to escort her to the transporters.

"Hello, Captain. May I beg a moment of your time?"

"I was going to show Captain Ziegler to-" the eager young officer tried to explain from behind Ducote.

"Thank you, Ensign. We will manage," he said over his shoulder.

"I believe... I require assistance,  Would you please replicate water for me, and... collect my garments. I am positive I will experience vertigo if I stand up."

Kaylon smiled and turned to her replicator.  "Of course." he said,  "Computer, Water. five degrees."  Kaylon couldn't tell for sure, but there was a note of regret in the way she winced.

Taking the water glass from the replicator and giving a brief wistful sigh at how much he had missed using one for so long, he turned back toward the bed, and as he walked, bent down and scooped up her clothes.  "Here you go." he said as he handed her the requested items.  He stood there, awkwardly, not sure what to say or do.  Over two centuries worth of experiences and memories, more than half of them as a woman, and Kaylon still couldn't figure them out.  He wished he had thought to ask those kinds of questions several years ago during his Zhian'tara, but no, he had spent the time talking with Amina and Menara's personalities about their careers and asking technical questions instead of delving into the interpersonal dynamics of dealing with the fairer sex.  He did know one thing though.  The awkward silences were never a good thing.

"I think I had a little too much Ter'an Bourbon, last night.  How about you?" he asked, wincing inwardly, and trying like hell not to wince outwardly.  Great!  You big idiot!  Just come out and say 'oh wow, I got drunk last night or I never would have done...that' "Erm..that didn't come out right.  I'm sorry.  Last night was a great experience for me, and you too, I hope." and stopped abruptly and awkwardly thinking Oh gods..could I sound any more pathetic..maybe I should get out of here and get back to the Cayuga.

"Do you think I could borrow a phaser, so I can just put myself out of my awkward misery and not have to think of the right thing to say so I don't sound like a jerk or did the old wham bam, thank you ma'am?" he quipped  "We both know I have to get back to the Cayuga, but ..." Ugh...he was doing it again!   "Yeah...where's your phaser?" he asked again, blushing from his spots to his toes with embarrassment.

[Lt Rhys Williams| Sickbay| Deck 15| Vector 03| USS Theurgy] Attn: @Cosmos @Doc M.

He watched the woman’s lips move, the words seemed to flow over him in waves but he struggled to make sense of them in his head. One thing did click with him however and that was her voice. He found it soothing for some reason. Then again she was trying to get him to relax, so it was likely a deliberate choice on her part. No the interesting thing for Rhys about was her voice was the familiarity, and as he heard it more and more he was able to recognise the sounds with this shaky memory.

“Lt. Vanya.” He said in a far off sounding voice. He felt pretty embarrassed for having been confused and not recognising her they had served together for a fair amount of time. In face, had she been a patient? He was fairly sure she had been. Flashes and images sparked to life behind his eyes of their sessions, though the content of them was shrouded from his memory.

The sessions from what he could remember of them had always been a little awkward, for all sorts of mental reasons. Not least of these were Rhys’ own. He had always found her more than a little intimidating. This was not uncommon he was not a normal Starfleet officer in many ways. Perhaps it was why he had become a counsellor in the end. He was not good at or happy being someone who gave orders, he was not comfortable in the normal chain of command. When had been an ops officer on the USS Mercia, the crew under him had found him hard to understand and relate to. He realised now he had been on the verge of psychological collapse that whole time due to stress and fear. Being a voice of command had not worked but being a voice of empathy and calm had surprisingly.

However, Rhys still had some serious blind spots in dealing with other people. One was feeling like a fraud when surrounded by other officers. The other was when having attention paid to him by an attractive an or woman. So despite his injury his reaction to being under the attention of Vanya was classic Rhys. Vanya was attractive and talking to him, sometimes that was all it took. Even worse she had a hand on his shoulder. His  body’s response to this was to immediately make his cheeks red, and to have his heart rate increase.

“Yes...” His voice squeaked, he looked even more embarrassed were that possible and cleared his throat. “Yes of course Lieutenant, I am just little….out of it.” His face felt hot, and he was sure it was red enough to distract low flying shuttles.

Vanya offered Rhys a smile. “Yes Lieutenant Williams. It’s me.” It’d been some time since their 4 years at the academy but she remembered seeing him there when she had been. Not that an over abundance of their classes crossed over. The Academy was a big place after all. People from 150+ Member worlds and others, sponsored in like Vanya her self. You could be there at the same time as others and never cross paths. Still Vanya remembered Rhys. Serving on the same ship with him had brought him more into her orbit, and as both where here, some what refugees from their own damaged ship, there was a bit of kinship with the human as well.

Then Rhys had a … curious reaction and Vanya leaned closer, looking concerned.   “Doctor? Nurse? It seems that he’s having an inverse reaction to your treatment. His coloration is becoming decidedly scarlet and he seems to be … breathing faster. Perhaps some sort of allergic reaction?”

Of course leaning closer to inspect Rhys’ condition brought the android closer to him in general. Her towering body bent at the hips. Beautiful sharp featured face brought closer to Williams’ own. Those intense dark green eyes peering at him. Perhaps to Rhys’ everlasting benefit her breasts didn’t quite brush him in his prone state. Her own unique scent did how ever reach his nose, infusing his nose with the very feminine scent.

Doctor Hernandez looked up from his scans. “Thank you Lieutenant but I’ll make the diagnosis around here,” Doctor Hernandez murmured to Vanya before rolling his eyes and addressing Rhys.  “Sorry Mister Williams.  I meant this Lieutenant,” he clarified as he nodded at Vanya, “not you Lieutenant.  I mean Mister Williams,” he grumbled.  “And actually Mister Williams, I think that this little dose of adrenaline is just what you needed,” he added with a hint of amusement.  “Still, I think perhaps you could use point four more milliliters of trianoline.  Nurse, prepare the medication.” he ordered off handedly.

“Yes Doctor,” Nurse Jones replied.

In the meantime Hernandez turned his attention to Vanya.  If he noticed that the intoxicating android appeared more Romulan than Vulcan he gave no indication of surprise or discomfort.  Perhaps there was a region on Vulcan where the natives still had visible cranial ridges.  Perhaps after learning the horrifying truth about Starfleet Command a Romulan didn’t register as noteworthy.  Perhaps his medical oath took precedence over personal bigotries and one’s species didn’t matter when Hernandez was on the job rather than off duty.  Or maybe he was just tired and overworked and past caring.

“I’ve never seen a prosthetic like that before, but of course, that’s not my specialty,” he muttered dismissively.  “Since it’s not life-threatening, you’ll have to wait until the ship is done reintegrating properly so we can connect you with a specialist.  The ship’s holograms have been acting up ever since we encountered the Savi and this section’s Emergency Medical Hologram has been unresponsive.” he continued.  “I notice a blue collar on your uniform.  Any chance that means life sciences Lieutenant um...?”  He spun his hand in a distracted fashioned when he realized that they hadn't been properly introduced.

OOC:  The combages contain medical information and an identifying transponder like a 21st century military "dog tag", which is why Hernandez knows Rhys' name but no one has run a tricorder over Vanya yet.

As Vanya leaned in closer to examine him his face became redder were that even possible. He tried desperately to keep his eyes from drifting over her body in an inappropriate way, he crossed his legs a little and tried to avoid being the subject of her gaze as much as possible. That scent.... oh why did she have to smell so good, and why did he have to respond to attractive people paying him attention in such and adolescent way. Maybe he might even regress further and start pulling pigtails, it was utterly pathetic.

He tried to calm himself and focus on what the doctor was saying. Which seemed to mostly be confused comments about both of their ranks. He did mention adrenaline, and now he thought about it his head did feel a little clearer. He noted Vanya's arm, he was stunned a little for a moment and then mentally shrugged. Prosthetics were not that uncommon, especially not in such a dangerous galaxy.

"Don't worry Lieutenant I am sure I will be fine." He said as he tried desperately to keep it together. He was desperate to get treated and out of this situation and back to his job. Vanya had been right people would need him.

He just hoped neither the doctor nor the nurse would notice his reaction. This was the last thing he needed.

Vanya’s eyes flicked up to Doctor Hernandez at his comment and caught his eyeroll. Her pointed Romulan brow arched and she repressed a bit of a grin. “Of course Doctor. Didn’t mean to step on your toes.”

Vanya leaned back out of Rhys personal space and tilted her head observing the Doctor and Nurse work. The intricacies of the flesh were always fascinating and even though Rhys wound wasn’t dramatic or visually exciting, he was a shipmate and the android wished for him to be healed and well again. One last pat was offered to Lieutenant William’s shoulder and she stepped out of the way.

Dark green eyes flickered up when the Doctor mentioned her arm and she looked down to it. Raising it and articulating her fingers before looking back up to him. “No need to worry Doctor. I am fully functional. Was just borrowing a dermal regenerator to enhance the self healing aspect of the flesh. I was almost done when my shipmate here.. what is the human term… “Went Walkabout”? A few minutes more and I’ll be out of your sickbay, and your hair.”

Picking up the instrument she went back to passing it over the arm. The flesh from the base of the cut regenerating up the arm as she slowly passed it back and forth.  She looked up when queried further.

“Lieutenant Vanya, CSO of the Cayuga. Nice to meet you Doctor. Nurse.” She nodded to them both, but as one hand was currently healing the other she didn’t offer to shake at this exact moment. “As it happens I am indeed. I was Science track all the way through the academy so I’m versed in many fields, but my personal specialty is in Zoology and Xenozoology.”

Rhys spoke and Vanya looked down to him on the bed giving a nod. “I’m sure you will. You’re in good hands, Williams.”  If Vanya had noticed any additional… symptoms, she had the grace not to say so and cause the poor lad a coronary or some similar complication.

It would have been very easy to hold back in the meeting, to do nothing and offer little in an attempt to save her own tail. It may be even been sensible looking at the mission she had ahead, but Anya Ziegler was not that sort of captain. No matter what happened, the Borg would need to be dealt with. In Cayuga’s current state they wouldn’t stand much chance, but the earlier she brought the battle, the larger the element of surprise the greater the opportunity to save everyone. She had lost so many already. If it meant sacrificing herself to save the rest, then so be it.

Positivity, she reminded herself as she fingered the PADD in front of her, the officers from Endeavour had already done a lot of the ground work.

“Good work Commander Kaeris. Your calculations may very well have saved us all.” With these torpedo modifications, everyone might just make it through. With the plan laid down and the meeting winding up, Ziegler felt that she had little left to say beside goodbyes.

When Cinn has finishing wrapping up, she stood still clutching the PADD. Taking the chance, Anya closed to the distance to Stark. There had been contention between the two officers, but it was out of love. At least from Ziegler’s side. When the now XO stood to meet her, Anya embraced the woman in a warm and soft hug.

“Never give up on that center chair. You’ll make it.” She whispered, before releasing the poor startled girl. There was no need to wait for a reply, instead Anya turned on her heels and started her to way towards to the door. Casting an eye to the large Bajoran, she called without stopping. “Don’t forget Cinn, I’ll be relying on you to convince Trent to bail me out.”

As the doors parted, there was a man waiting for her. To Ziegler’s surprise, it wasn’t the young officer who had walked at pace to keep up with the Captain on her ‘escort’ to the conference room. It as Ducote, and he wanted to speak about something. She knitted her brow lightly, trying to figure out his angle, but nodded to his request. Together they started to walk down the corridor.

“I’m sorry to hear about Endeavour. Losing friends and colleagues is always tough.” She said, pausing to push aside her own feelings of loss. “Anyway, what can I do for you, Commander?”

As soon as she made her request, Cir'Cie was certain she had made a mistake. To sip the water that the Engineer was getting for her, she would have to sit up. Not to mention donning her uniform. She was also certain that she would never wear the same uniform that she had discarded in the haste of initiating coitus with the Trill either. She realised that she was, actually, in her own quarters, so she would wear something that did not reek with the perspiration of the day before.

Still, she had made the request already, her thoughts entirely too muddled by the effects of the Trill plant. So when the Trill returned, talking, and talking, and talking, Cir'Cie had no choice but to gingerly sit up in her bed, balling her olive-skinned hand around the twisted blanket in order to preserve a modicum of propriety. Her head span, but as if on its own, she saw her free hand reach for the glass of water, and she sipped it. With the latent tastes of the previous night still in her parched mouth, the water tasted rancid, but her higher brain functions told her that there was no choice. She needed to rehydrate. So she continued to sip, swallowing with her thick throat, whilst trying to keep herself from telling the Trill to speak more quietly.

A great experience? Then why does he wish to kill himself? Out of embarrassment? As leaden as her thoughts were, she could not quite make sense of the contradictory ramblings. She turned her eyes towards him, keeping her face as serene as she could given the circumstances. 'Wham... Bam?'

"My apologies, I do not keep a phaser in my quarters," she said, her voice a bit hoarser than usually, thinking that it was likely a consequence of how vocal she had been before she fell asleep. Rather, fell unconscious, if she'd be more truthful in her semantics. "I am aware that you have duties. So have I. This predicament is something we share, and I would require your assistance, since I am clearly in a less healthy state than you are."

Cir'Cie finished her water, slowly put the glass aside, and moved to stand. Very, very slowly, since it felt like her head weighed as much as her whole body. "As for whatever hopes you hold towards me finding this experience 'great', I find that this current moment has put a damper on the overall impression."

Saying as much, she had managed to stand, still holding the blanket to her chest with one hand. "Would you please replicate a new uniform for me instead, Lieutenant Jeen? I find that the one I wore yesterday is unfit to wear. I will also require undergarments, and another glass of water."

Having said as much, unwilling to use her dry mouth for another syllable, Cir'Cie slowly, gingerly, stepped towards her sonic shower, since the post-coitus scents that rose from her skin were gagging, and she preferred not adding to the stench through immediate emesis. As for the involuntary display of her backside towards the Trill, it was pushed the bottom tier of her priorities. In reassessment of the situation, the engineer had already seen far more, and whatever modesty she'd cling to seemed redundant.

[ Doctor T'Panu | Main Sickbay | USS Theurgy ]

T'Panu was standing in the main sickbay on the USS Theurgy, as she began to think back. Lost in wonder, with everything going on, she was finally able to take everything in. It had been a long time coming, as she was normally so lost in her everyday duties to think about much out. After Wolf 359, she had been pushing her thoughts and feelings out of the way. Her brain was so muddled with PTSD from her past, and now her present, she couldn't possibly even begin to comprehend what was going on. She knew she should speak to a counsellor, but her Vulcan pride was still stopping her.

Why would I speak to a counsellor, when I'm still performing my duties? Furthermore, nobody else knows, so as long as I am achieving my everyday work, why bother? She wondered. This thinking went against everything she believed and everything she's given advice for in the past. But it was her own thoughts, her own dealings with the situations. How could I let anyone know my weakness? She thought.

T'Panu felt herself relax into her cup of Vulcan spiced tea, and began to think back to when she first boarded the USS Theurgy.

T'Panu looked out from the Allegiant. Everything was still hazy, still confusing. She wondered how they all had gotten to this point. Is there anything they could have done differently?, she wondered. She knew the answer; however, she couldn't help but wonder. T'Panu always had a bad habit of going over the details a little too closely, nearly blaming herself. She thought about all he crew and what they had all been through. She thought about  the few she could save, and the many that she couldn't. She thought about how hard everyone had fought, how exhausted they all felt.

She reminisced how unsure she had felt. The Asurians had destroyed the Cayuga's main sickbay; and, well, much of the ship. She had lost everything she had come to know, and for that, she wanted payback.

Where would she be going? Where would she end up? She pondered. She was completely unsure. All there was to do now, was to step off of the Allegiant, onto the USS Theurgy, and bide her time until the path unfolded for her and her crew members. She grabbed her pack, and wandered out. She felt as if she was wandering into the great unknown.

She passed a lot of people, a lot of injured, a lot of potential patients. She wondered what everyone else had been through. To hell and back, she was sure. As she found her way to the Main Sickbay, she realized it was the most fitting. She wasn't sure where else to go, so she figured she would try and make herself useful. She remembered all the injured; all the groaning, the moaning, the blood. She remembered seeing the counsellor sitting, waiting to jump in and help. She even thought about introducing herself, but decided not to bother. She didn't want to put herself in a position where she'd have to open up to anyone, let alone a counsellor. She sighed at her thought, but couldn't be bothered to change her mind about it. She was fine, and for all intents and purposes, everyone else would think the same.

Just as she was settling in, making herself busy, she felt the Theurgy take off. But how could that be?? I'm not supposed to be on this ship. I don't  even know any of these people! T'Panu thought. She wondered how she was going to get off of this ship, back to where she belonged, when she realized that wasn't possible anymore. She was just going to have to wait and see what happened.

As T'Panu thought back, she thought about the Borg, and wondered what kind of hell was about to ensue. She took another sip of her Vulcan spiced tea, took a breath, and prepared for what was about to come.

[ Maya (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Dr._Maya) | Main Sickbay | Deck 11 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @ lisavw , any character in sickbay.

"Ah Doctor T’Panu, you are early,” Maya’s mezzosoprano voice greeted coolly as the shorter woman walked stiffly in T’Panu’s direction from the direction of corridor to the medical labs.  T'Panu noticed that even though Maya was no longer staggering as she had during the meeting seven hours ago, the shorter woman had added four motor assist bands (http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Motor_assist_band) to her uniform, one at each bicep and one at each thigh.  With the stoicism typical for her people, Maya had made no comment or complaint about her condition, despite the fact that she was addressing a physician of her own species.  Instead she simply updated the taller woman on the progress that had been made on the preparations for Ensign Tancredi’s upcoming surgery.  Even with T’Panu’s empathic abilities, Maya was a difficult read.  There seemed to an undercurrent of hostility beneath the surface of Maya’s professional coolness, but was that merely a symptom of the older woman’s physical distress or hostility to outsiders in general?

"I have spent the night reprogramming the nanoprobes.  Lieutenant Okafor was assisting me but he had to start his shift on the bridge so I have been completing the task without him.  I am currently taking a break from running diagnostic simulations and making adjustments so it is likely to be a bit premature for us to change into our surgical scrubs (http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Starfleet_uniform_(2350s-2370s)#Scrubs) at this time.  At this rate it is unlikely that Ensign Tancredi’s surgery will begin before nine hundred hours.  If you are looking for something to do your injured shipmates are being transferred to this location.  After the attack by the Borg and the violence inflected upon them by the Asurians I am sure that a familiar face will be a great comfort to them.  I understand that the Theurgy has a reputation as a pirate ship filled with homicidal lunatics bent on treason, and that despite our assurances to the contrary, the faces of so many strangers aboard a ship with our notoriety is hardly conductive to recuperation.”  So mechanical was Maya’s delivery that it would be easy to understand any discomfort her patients might have with her.

As T’Panu responded Maya pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes at the younger woman.  The shorter Vulcan tilted her head to the right and seemed to be examining T’Panu as if she was a specimen of some sort.  Finally, she spoke.  "Doctor T’Panu, forgive my impertinence, but are you well?  There seems to be something about your demeanor that suggests that you are suffering intense discomfort.  Have been under continuous or intense strain as of late?  Would you like to sit down?”

[Lt. Rhys Williams| Sickbay| Deck 15| Vector 03| USS Theurgy] attn: @Cosmos @Doc M.

Rhys waited patiently as the nurse administered a treatment in the hypospray, and tried to follow the conversation going over his head. It was not easy in this state, but as the treatment wound its way into his system, he started to feel a slow gradual clearing of the cobwebs in his head.

It was a hard sensation for him to put into words. It felt rather like a waking up tired and bleary eyed, then taking a very cold shower. It was not a wholly pleasant feeling but what it left behind made him feel so much better. His eyes flicked to Vanya as she ran the dermal regenerator over her arm. His mind focused on the motion of the device in her hand as he tried desperately to distract himself from some of the memories of the past few hours.

Rhys had not been himself, not for the past several hours if not days. One of the few things he took pride in himself for, was his ability to remain calm. Outwardly at least. The troubles of his ship the attacks they had suffered, had shattered that serenity he tired to exist in. For that period of time he felt like many of his issues had been laid bare to the Universe in general. It made him uncomfortable and very unhappy. He felt like over the past few minutes he had even been embarrassing himself in front of Vanya. His feet itched to be away.

“So Doctor, how long will you keep me here?” He said trying to regain control over his mental situation. ‘The Counsellor who needs counseling’, the thought rattled around in the dark recesses of his mind. Not a very comfortable tag to mentally apply to yourself.

[ Lieutenant Vanya (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Vanya) | Sickbay | Deck 15 | Vector 03 | USS Theurgy ] @Juzzie @Doc M.  [/i]

[Show/Hide]

Vanya finished with the dermal regenerator. It enhanced and quickened the already quite swift repair of her flesh layer. Flexing her hand and each finger to ensure proper articulation and range of motion she plugged the instrument into the sterilizer for a few moments and then placed it precisely back where she had obtained it. So that it would be there in case of emergency for the next patient that would need it.

This was also done to keep the med staff from yelling at her. This wasn’t ‘her’ domain and she could get fussy about her equipment if some stranger came in and started pawing at it. She’d already gotten a tap on the nose by the doctor for letting them do their work and fair enough that. She could understand, she was not an MD and her observations about poor Lieutenant Williams had been from concern more than a medical standpoint.

To be honest Rhys seemed to color up much like her former Academy roommate. A trait that Vanya had often found endearing in humanity. So her dark green Romulan eyes observed as the medical staff treated the counselor. She was curious as to if they would release him or if his problem would result in a more ongoing and serious care. As she watched the sleeve of her uniform jacket was tugged back down and into place. The cuff was stained with some green blood but thankfully Starfleet had gone to black as the basis for their general uniforms. It covered blood quite well for the most part. Be it red, blue or green.

Then Rhys himself inquired as to the same and Vanya’s dark eyes flicked up to the Doctor and Nurse to hear their prognosis and ordered course of treatment.

In the meantime, down in main engineering on deck twenty-five, Acting Chief Engineer Master Chief Petty Officer William Robert “Billy Bob” O’Connell contacted his counterpart overseeing the Vector Two warp core.  “Preliminary diagnostics indicates thet all dockin’ latches n’ umbilicals are secure,” William Robert ‘Billy Bob’ O’Connell announced.  “Take th’ warp core back down t’ recommended levels.“  He pressed a button on the master systems display table (http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Master_systems_display_table).  “Main Engineerin’ tuh Vector Two Engineerin’.  Mister Lucas, do you have yer ears on?”

[ Cmdr Ranaan Ducote | Corridors | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @Arista

"Ah, thank you, Captain," Ducote replied to her condolences, noting her own pang as he looked away. The attacks on the Cayuga were somewhat more recent than those on the Endeavour, but it still wasn't quite something he was ready to face in its entirety.

"... what can I do for you, Commander?"

What, indeed?

The dark-eyed hybrid took a breath, then glanced at Ziegler. "It's been a roller coaster couple of days, as I'm sure you can agree. But the one thing I need - well one of the one things," he qualified with a wry look, "- is some outside corroboration. Try as I might, their tale defies belief. I can tell they believe it, but Thea and Ives would have controlled everything anyone on this ship saw. Nicander could simply be a madman; people have been made to believe crazier things than these parasites. The events leading to his incarceration are harder to explain, of course."

He shook his head once, as if to remind himself he had a point to make. "Captain, you know these people, but you have been apart from them while this whole... whatever this business is has happened. I find myself in desperate need of a 'qualified outsider's' insight, before I can commit myself to a cause that even the most paranoid conspiracy-theorist would have shied away from as 'too out there'."

That was his problem, in the main. If their story was true, or had a better than even chance of being so, and if Starfleet had been so thoroughly co-opted, and if this ship was the only one that had any idea of it in its entirety... then he had a duty to Truth. He would be obligated to offer his help. He would probably still ask his officers if they would volunteer, though. This had an altogether too-high chance of being a one-way trip.

It wasn't as if his own career was going to get any worse.

[Show/Hide]

Staring at the taller Betazoid before her, Anya appraised him once more with cold, calculating eyes. Silence between the two grew for a slightly uncomfortable time. Was he really asking her what she thought he was?

“Walk with me.” She ordered simply, breaking the pause. Without saying anything else, she turned to stride down the corridor. It made sense, she guessed, based on the situation how confusing it could all be. Ducote had been thrown into this mess. Then again, so had everyone else here.

“I’m glad you’ve already raised the conflict of interest in treating me as a completely outside opinion. There are many still aboard who I have worked with and care for deeply.” She said, walking with pace. If Ducote wanted to hear her thoughts, he would need to keep up. Inside, she was a turmoil of emotions. Her sense of connection to Theurgy was still strong. Many elements here had helped define and solidify the type of captain she wanted to be.

“That said, a necessary skill of a Captain is the ability to look at a situation objectively. Having to take yourself and your own feelings out of the equation, for the greater good, is both one of the biggest blessings and burdens of command.” Indicating towards the three round shapes on Ducote’s neck, Ziegler knew he’d understand her line of logic. He had taken the Commander’s exam. “I’m sure you have already felt the weight represented by that third golden pip.”

The walk to the turbolift was short and so far, Anya had managed to fill most of it with enough prattling to get her thoughts in order. As they arrived, towards the doors, they didn’t open immediately, indicating that they would need to wait for a turbolift car.

“There are a lot of elements in play, Commander Ducote.  Many things that just don’t sit right.” She sighed, her brows knitting as she parsed various information. “Nicander being, just one of them."

She wanted to tell Ducote that all was right, but in these troubling times, it wouldn't be fair to lie to the man.

[ Cmdr Ranaan Ducote | Corridors | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @Arista

Ducote clasped his hands behind his back as they walked. Mostly it was to quell the urge to fiddle with his fingers or stuff them into his pocket, where all they would find is his utter lack of a type-I. He still felt a little naked without it... he wasn't sure if that was down to or exacerbating his paranoia.

At least she seemed to be on the same page as him without having to waste time explaining properly where he was coming from. His asking her to talk at all (even despite her subjectivity) was him trying to establish his own best-estimate objective view of this whole, entirely fucked, scenario.

"To be honest, your previous experience with them is actually how I wanted to control for the influence of the ship's AI on proceedings. It would be a trivial task for it to be the man-in-the-middle for all the information coming aboard the ship.. but you have been outside it. You have had the opportunity to examine their story in a way I haven't."  Handily, it would also confirm one way or the other how much he could continue to believe in the FNN.

There wasn't an empath he knew who was better than himself at spotting a liar. That did rather depend on the liar in question being in the same room, of course.

The black-eyed man stepped around a passing Ops crewman heading the other way, then glanced back to Ziegler. "Nicander... I don't know how to take. My gut says simply not to trust him. And the risk-assessing part of my brain says leaving such a potential... archenemy an easy mole's-eye-view of what this ship does to combat them seems nonsensical, whatever intelligence you might get in return." A dark pause. "I'm not sure what I would do about that, either, though. Ethically-speaking.

"I don't want platitudes, Captain. My career is forfeit regardless; my ship destroyed, harbour taken on the Theurgy, and I won't leave while I have crew in the sickbay - even if I could. What I want to know is whether or not they are right.

"I have a duty to the Truth, same as you."

[Lieutenant JG Evelyn Rawley, callsign "Ghost" | Squadron Mess Hall/Lounge | Fighter Assault Bay | Deck 16 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy] Attn: @Nolan @Doc M. @Havenborn @Triton
[Show/Hide]

Rawley instantly had second thoughts with regards to filling out her report.

“Actually, Razor, never mind yer office,” she said. “I’ll just take it on a Padd and fill it oot in the lounge. Yeh know where to find me. Long as I’m there, I think I’ll need a stoogie.”

She often had a stoogie on hand when she filled out reports. It helped pass the time. “Padd, commence recording,” she commanded; sometimes speaking live like on a log recording worked better than typing the whole kaboodle on. Once the beeping was made, Rawley commenced her report.

“After Action Report, Lieutenant JG Evelyn Rawley. Wolf-02, callsign Ghost. Stardate 57555.84. Location deployed: Azure Nebula, probably in the middle. Deployed with Lone Wolf Squadron to counteract potential Borg threat. Was among the first of the squad out to advance sensor readings to Starship Theurgy, Vector Two.

“As it transpired, what we encountered was not the Borg, but an Imperial Klingon Flagship, the IKC Rotarran, commanded by the one and only Chancellor Martok himself. Why Martok has a grudge against us is beyond me, but unfortunately, it means just one more problem sitting on our arses. In any case, once the rest of the squadron was deployed, I was assigned to cover Wolf Leader’s arse and engage hostile craft where necessary.

“Ordinance exhausted, but phasers still functional; might need to have a word later with the lads in yellow in the bay to reload it. Dinnae remember coonting, but I’m sure it was at, at most, a half dozen Phantom Raiders that have been blown t’ smithereens. No injuries on me person except for whiplash and me hooter, which were treated fine after a trip to Sickbay; at least I’m not back in stasis.

“Further addition to note: The Borg showed as we got back from our sortie. Yours truly saw a cube as the bay doors closed. It was coming in passing, but the brief glimpse is significant; if we needed more proof of the Borg presence in the Azure Nebula, we jes got it. Hope that sighting sinks in with Chancellor Martok.

“With all that’s going, it’s good to have a breather. Will be standing by for the next deployment, though with our current numbers, with almost half our squadron dead and Meony…Ensign Tacrendi…out of action, extreme caution is advised, and that’s something coming from me. Cannae think of anything more to report for noo. Signing off. Cease recording.”

It was as best as she could think to say, and it sounded good for the time being, in her ears. It also sounded as official as she could, especially to Tom, at least on duty.

She sucked in her stoogie more and then left the lounge to seek out Razor. It didn’t take long to find him.

“Razor?” She said, holding up the Padd. “Here's me report. Probably me first directly to you.”

As they waited, Anya listened to what Ducote had to say. There was something about the man, something that made him easy to communicate with. That was, at least until he spoke of platitudes.

Immediately, she bristled under the accusation. In some measure, because it was an element of truth. She couldn’t deny it. She pushed out a tough exterior but there was a small part of her that had a soft side. Stark had set it off in her ready room and, for whatever reason, Ducote was bring out something that Anya reserved for her crew.

“I’m well aware of my duty, Commander.” Ziegler replied to the Betazoid with a sharp tone, pushing boundaries back up between them. They may both have had suffered recent losses, but this was a new meeting.

She turned away from the man to check if the doors had parted and, in fact, there was a waiting turbolift car to whisk the captain away.

Cayuga was recalled to Earth when Ives ‘went rogue’.” Ziegler sighed, recalling the details. “For days I was debriefed. My every answer analysed. My every motive accused. They deconstructed my entire service record.”

She let that sink in. Being raked over the coals and asked to second guess everything she had done over a 17-year career.

“Jien Ives almost cost me my captaincy, Commander. I was treated as guilty by association in a mock drumhead trial.” Anya could feel the bile rise in her stomach. The anger that she held over the way she was treated had never truly gone away. “I am quite sure that the whole reason Cayuga’s original mission was rescinded, and we were sent to the Azure nebula was to keep me and my crew busy and away from Theurgy.

“I could be angry about the whole situation. I could lay it all at Ives’ feet. In the end though, there’s only one question you want the answer to. Do I think Ives’ is right?” With a fiery passion, she stared down the taller man. “You’re damn straight I do.”

"My apologies, I do not keep a phaser in my quarters," she said, hoarsely"I am aware that you have duties. So have I. This predicament is something we share, and I would require your assistance, since I am clearly in a less healthy state than you are.  As for whatever hopes you hold towards me finding this experience 'great', I find that this current moment has put a damper on the overall impression." said Cir'Cie.

He helped her move to the lavatory and as the door closed, he turned back to his own clothes

Duh!  Kaylon could feel his face heating.  Rambling like he was only made things worse, and a Vulcan most likely wouldn't have had the kind of emotional hangups about what was probably going to be a one night stand anyway.

It was time to just clear the decks, and bid a hasty retreat back to the Cayuga.  They would both chalk it up to
a less than perfect one night stand and probably not see one another for a long time, if ever.

Once he heard the hum of Cir'Cie's sonic shower, he pulled on the rest of his discarded uniform, figuring he would change after he was back aboard the Cayuga.  Time to get to the transporter room and beam back to his own ship.

Tapping his combadge, he said "Jeen to Cayuga"  No answer.  "The comms are probably down again."  he walks towards the door, meaning to leave the quarters and reach a control panel, to arrange a transport.

[Show/Hide]
Before Kaylon Jeen had attempted to contact the bridge of the Cayuga, there was a loud crash from the sonic shower.

"Mister Jeen, would you be so kind and assist me?" The dispassionate and loud call came through the closed door.

Inside, Cir'Cie had lost her balance, and while she had stripped bare, she had attempted to regain her balance by grabbing on to the white bathrobe that hung close to the sonic shower. Unfortunately, she had merely managed to tear the bathrobe from its peg and brought it with her in her fall. When the sliding doors opened, she was trying to pick herself up from the floor, with the twisted bathrobe alone preserving her modesty. She felt like an animal that had braved the ice of a frozen lake, and instead of feet she wore hoofs.

"If you would be so kind, I'd require assistance with the sonic shower," he said, head spinning, realising that the effects of that root had not worn off completely. "Furthermore, I am still in need of a new uniform. Did you replicate one for me?"

Vulcans being very private, the current ordeal was deeply shameful for Cir'Cie, who found that the only positive factor was how the mortification was somewhat overshadowed by the ache in her head. She had never experienced the aftereffects of elevated sucrose ingestion, and if she had any chance to prevent it, she did not care to ever ingest anything like that root again.

"I would also benefit of some advise," she said, latching on to the edge of her wash basin in order to get leverage in the impossible challenge of regaining her footing. "Should I report to Sickbay, or will this kind of effect wear off soon enough, so that I can resume my duties?"

From the other side of the restroom door, Kaylon heard what sounded like a crashing sound.  As much as he wanted to just get the hell out of there after such an embarrassing encounter, regardless of what happened, Cir'Cie was a fellow Starfleet officer, "traitor" or not (which he didn't believe for a nanosecond anyway) , it made no difference.  The door to the bathroom opened and he saw Cir'Cie there on the floor, her bathrobe barely covering her modesty.  He moved immediately to help her back to her feet.

She asked, "I would also benefit of some advise, should I report to Sickbay, or will this kind of effect wear off soon enough, so that I can resume my duties?"

I'm admittedly not all that familiar with the effect of sucrose on the Vulcan metabolism.  If I had known it would have this effect on you, believe me, I wouldn't have been so ah, generous, with it.  But if you're still having problems this morning beyond that of what to other humanoids would be a normal hangover, then the logical course of action would probably be that you should at least consult the ship's medical staff.  I've never heard of Ter'anakul having this kind of effect on a Vulcan, but if there is some kind of side effect or worse, if you are having a delayed allergic reaction, it'd probably would be best to have the doctor run a few scans."  He helped her to the chair, and took down the uniform that he had previously replicated back when he got her water a few minutes before, and lay it beside her on the bed.

"Would you like for me to help you get to Sickbay?" he asked.

The Trill was helpful enough, getting Cir'Cie back on her feet. She held the bathrobe to her chest to cover herself a bit, even though there was little chance to cover all of the skin she wanted to cover. She was grateful for the seat, but the movement to the room was entirely counter-productive. She still reeked of having intimate relations with the Cayuga's Chief Engineer, and she wanted to rinse herself. The headache had not been mitigated in the least, but at least she was given a new uniform.

The advise of the Trill in regard to the root was... moot. Sucrose intolerance was common among Vulcans, and she believed she was among those affected - which was largely the majority, as far as she knew. But how intolerant was she?

"I would benefit from a scan with a tricorder in that case," she told Jeen in an even voice. "Else I will not know how dire my affliction is."

Just as she said this, there was movement outside her viewport.

She turned her head, and she saw the Cayuga moving. It was turning around, more lights lit than she'd seen since that first day. The quad nacelles were alight as well. The warp coils glowing. In fact. They flared up and....

...the Cayuga was gone. It had gone to warp. Seeing this, she turned her head towards Kaylon Jeen. "Did you request a transfer to the Theurgy?" Even blinking caused searing pain, but she raised an inquisitive eyebrow. "As far as I am aware, you did not tell me this last night. As Chief Engineer, why would you chose to serve on the Theurgy instead?"

[ Cmdr Ranaan Ducote | Corridors | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @Arista

Ducote grimaced when Ziegler fired back. He hadn't meant his words to come across as they had, but he could hardly edit them now. His intention was a 'you don't need to sugarcoat anything on my account' but had been received more like a 'don't blow smoke up my ass', which wasn't ideal. He raised an apologetic hand, but didn't interrupt her to make some facile excuse about sleep deprivation. She'd hardly had an easy time of it this week, either.

The hybrid followed her into the lift, but remained quiet so the captain could collect herself and give her account while she jabbed a finger at the controls to take them to the proper deck. It was hard not to wince at the story of her treatment. And the idea that Starfleet had been reduced to a kangaroo court in order to question the loyalty of an experienced captain was a tough one to swallow.

He wondered how he'd react if some JAG commodore grilled him about his own time in service for someone else's crimes. Not well, he admitted, grimly. If nothing else, one questioned the point of such a trial. It stood just as much a chance of poisoning someone against the organisation as it did exposing a defector trying to fly under the radar.

"Do I think Ives is right?" The commander met the captain's eye - her gaze burning in the dim light of the turbolift. "You're damn straight I do."

Ducote looked away again, inspecting the door as he nodded thoughtfully to himself. She wasn't lying. She believed it. "Well then..." he said, gaze rising to the ceiling above them, "Fuck."

For being but a single syllable, it was a word of such utility and eloquence. He could see why Blue loved it so much. Had loved it. Whichever... even if he did pray for the former.

The lift slowed and stopped, and the doors parted with a hiss. Blinking, Ducote gestured that Ziegler should go first. "On the one hand, I am quite glad to have someone verify convincingly once and for all that the Niger was not captured by some neo-Maquis nonsense and put through some over-engineered facade to bring us on-side.

"On the other, I think I was still hoping that the story was indeed too far-fetched to be true, and I could happily get my remaining crew off this ship and get to my inevitable tribunal..." He sighed, rounding a corner and spotting the double doors to a transporter room. End of the line.

Still, he couldn't be entirely convinced, not when the fate of his crew rested so heavily how the chips fell. He and the Theurgy shared a goal, for now, which was enough for cooperation in his book. What came after was a problem for if they survived long enough for it to matter. The transporter operator looked up as they entered, nodding to them both. Well, mostly to Ziegler. The scuttlebutt was still carrying his reputation around quite nicely, he suspected. Ducote looked back to the four-pip officer.

"Thank you for your time and your indulgence, Captain. An offer of reciprocation feels a little... hollow, given the circumstances, but if we get through this..." he let it hang. He wasn't actually sure what an offer of future friendship from him was worth right now.

[Show/Hide]

Anya Ziegler watched and listened as the Betazoid commander went through a variety of emotions, even one expressed out loud. Normally, Ziegler would be inclined to reprimand for using such language while on duty; But with everything that had happened and the news he had received, if cursing wasn’t allowed now, Ziegler didn’t know when it would be.

Ducote started with platitudes, something he had voiced against, but trailed off even before Ziegler held up her palm to stop him.

“The truth can be difficult, Commander.” She said as a matter of fact. “But that doesn’t mean everyone has to approach it in the same way.”

As the pair found the doors to the transporter room, they parted but Ziegler did not cross the threshold, instead she turned back to Ducote, appraising his face and for an instant wishing she could get a greater insight into his mind, like he could with hers.

Theurgy is unlike any other ship in the fleet. Wenn Cinn is a great security chief, but he can be a bit of a blunt instrument.” She admitted with a smirk, memories of the burly Bajoran filling her minds eye. “Trust him but challenge him and you’ll get your answer on whether you belong here.”

Anya couldn’t put her finger on it, but there was something about this man that intrigued her. He had an air about him that was different. It was refreshing yet familiar. He had a way of putting her at ease as if they had known each other for the longest of times. She had no idea on his reputation, just the feeling in her gut that spoke strongly to her.

“Assuming we survived the Borg and rescue Ives. Take some time to sit with the Captain and listen to his perspective.” It was a big assumption on her part, but Ziegler couldn’t bear to try to delve into other possibilities right now. She needed to remain positive.

With a warm smile, she nodded to the Commander. Their time together was almost at an end. Just one thing remained.

“If after all that. you still aren’t comfortable here, well, there’s a seat on Cayuga with your name on it, if you want it.”

[ Cmdr Ranaan Ducote | Corridors | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] attn: @Arista

It took considerable effort to keep his face passive at Ziegler's assertion that he should trust Wenn Cinn. Evidently, at some point prior to the ship's current crisis he had passed his Command certifications and proven himself capable of the rank he now held. So far though, his own still-sleep-deprived and grumpy brain preferred to dismiss him. He made the uncharitable assertion that he hadn't seen someone use so many words to say so little since the last diplomatic function he'd attended with his mother, or perhaps some Admiralty dinner.

Behave. Back in the game.

Instead, he nodded. It was the least he could do, to keep an open(ish) mind. He had the dual background in gold and blue shirts to know that, even if the divisions in question had subscribed to somewhat different interpretations of that maxim. His empathy twinged, and he met her eye again. She was considering something... though he wondered if perhaps she wasn't, once she actually spoke.

"... Take some time to sit with the captain and listen to his perspective." He sensed she wasn't quite done, and reopened his private wager with himself.

"If after all that, you still aren't comfortable here, well, there's a seat on Cayuga with your name on it, if you want it."

Ducote tilted his head ever so slightly as an eyebrow quirked up a little. There it is. More hollow offers; they were both making bad habits, it seemed. Although, he wasn't entirely sure she was joking. Even him? A soon-to-be-court-martialled officer considering treason? As if she hadn't had enough trouble with the brass. Santa Maria, she must be desperate.

And then there was the thought of Blue (her location being confirmed, pending) joining him on a ship unprepared for her. He managed to turn the smirk self-deprecating, half-nodding, half-glancing at the deck between them.

"I'll bear it in mind. There's a joke in there about being careful what you wish for, though." He straightened, nodding once more.

"Godspeed, Captain."

"Did you request a transfer to the Theurgy?  As far as I am aware, you did not tell me this last night. As Chief Engineer, why would you chose to serve on the Theurgy instead?"

Kaylon was momentarily stunned by her question.  In his peripheral vision, he had seen the Cayuga under way, and then go to warp.  Once she asked the question, those vague memories came to the forefront of his attention.  Uselessly he ran to the viewport, putting both hands against the window, and shouted "No!", just as uselessly.

Why would the Cayuga leave without him?  Why?!

Turning to Cir'Cie, he sighed and said, "Let's get you to sickbay...then I need to speak to your captain."

This was not going to be a good day.

Ziegler couldn’t help but give a slight amused scoff at Ducote’s returned quip that she should be careful what she wished for. It was true and the small hint of humour was just what they needed to finish off their time together.

Come what may, she would miss this man, and she wished him the best. His low opinion of the remains of his career aside, Ziegler regretted not having met earlier. When he wished her well, she nodded in return.

“You too, Commander.”

With nothing else to say, she turned on her heels and strode into the transporter room and upon onto the pad. She couldn’t delay the inevitable, so why wait?

“Ensign Carpeland, Set course. 258 mark 47. As fast as we can.” Entering the bridge, Ziegler didn’t wait to start issuing orders. She just spoke as she paced with purpose toward the center of the room.

“Aye Captain.” As always, Nina Carepland, Helmswoman, was ready to input and follow. “Ready on your order.”

There was a heavy flump sound as the captain unceremoniously dumped herself into the captain’s chair. After everything, they were once again jumping the breach. Cayuga, the little ship that could. Gently, Anya ran a finger of the smooth cool metal that ran along the arm of her seat. The feeling always set her resolve.

“Buckle in everyone.” Ziegler called, turning in her chair to look at the faces of the assembled officers. They weren’t her first choice. Most of the weren’t her second choice. They were, however, family. At this juncture in time, family was all.

“It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

[Show/Hide]

The transporter beams shimmered and the familiar chime sounded. People materialized on the pad and after a second to assure all their molecules were in the right place hopped down. Among their number was a young Lieutenant Junior Grade, with Security gold at the collar. She was carrying a medium sized duffel over one shoulder, with the bag resting at the hip. A nod to the transport operator and she headed out of the transporter room. "Thanks Chief!"

In the hall she looked one way, then the other. Slender antennae twitching a little and craning forward, showing interest and curiosity. Her dark blue-green eyes were also alight with those emotions. She’d never been on a Theurgy class ship before and this was all very new. The Cayuga’s sickbay had been destroyed and both ships had seen heavy engagement. So a call had gone out, any and all with medical knowledge, above the standard first aid classes that all Starfleet Graduates had to pass, were to cross-ship to the Theurgy and pitch in with casualties, of which there were many.

The young Andorian officer didn’t know when she’d be back to her own quarters, so she’d grabbed her space bag, crammed some important things in there, just in case the transfer proved longer than expected. Among these, and not the least of which was Saucer. Whom was resting quietly, thank goodness.

Finding a computer display along the wall out side of the Transporter room her fingers lifted. Tapping out a request, she was given the route to the primary sickbay, deck 11. Nodding she turned and headed for the turbolift at a trot. A bright smile bloomed on her face as she stepped in with a few other officers, looking up her antennae twitched as she placed her request.   “Deck 11. Sickbay please.”

When the lift reached it’s destination she was off and down the hall at a brisk walk. Entering into sickbay, the Andorian paused for a moment. People moving swiftly from here to there. Most with the teal Science/Medical department collars displayed. Her own gold collar stood out a bit among the sea of teal. After a moment she started deducing which were Doctors, which were nurses, orderlies and just warm bodies pitching in.

Moving out of the way, she looked around. Finding a supply closet she palmed open the door. Ducked in and secured her space bag down and out of the way, where it wouldn’t fall off a shelf and nothing heavy could fall on it if the ship bucked, then stepped back into the main sickbay.

A few more seconds were taken to assess and she approached the person with the most pips on their collar. When a moment presented itself, as in the officer didn’t interrupt if the Doctor was elbow deep in someone’s insides, she nodded and stood straight, antennae also erect, a smile on her blue lips.

“Lieutenant Zark, Reporting.” A beat and she looked around. “I’m a Combat Medic, but rated and Licensed Physician’s Assistant. With your approval I’ll jump right in?” Her antennae seemed to motion to one side where there was injured crew waiting for assessment and treatment. As a PA, she could diagnose and treat minor to moderate wounds and illness. Anything above her skill level would be preped and referred to full MD’s.

If there were no objections she did just that. Seeing to injured, triaging, fixing what she could, and what she couldn’t flagging for those with more skill than she possessed.

[ Doctor T’Panu | Main Sickbay | Deck 11 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Doc M.

"Doctor T'Panu, forgive my impertinence, but are you well?  There seems to be something about your demeanour that suggests that you are suffering intense discomfort.  Have been under continuous or intense strain as of late?  Would you like to sit down?”

T’Panu thought about her question. She had just arrived back in Sickbay after an exhausting time for everyone. She was still adjusting to life on the Theurgy, after so long spent on the Cayuga. Her Vulcan side was eager for duty, discipline, routine. But her Betazoid side said otherwise. Both sides, stuck in a conflicting battle.

She carefully pondered what she had said, and debated her reply.

“I apologize for my rather erratic behaviour as of late. Truthfully, I have been thinking a lot about my last encounter with the Borg. Wolf 359 was a very terrifying time. One that I never thought I would have to face again. I never talked to anyone after that battle, thinking I would never have to face it again. But it’s always been there, in the back of my mind, slowly eating away at my sanity. With everything that has happened in the past while, I guess it’s come back to haunt me worse than I ever could have imagined.”

T’Panu paused briefly as she turned back to look at Maya. She was unsure what she was thinking, but could feel her focus on every word that T’Panu was saying.

“Growing up, I practically lived at the Vulcan Learning Center. I remember one day, my mother and I got into a fight. We were discussing something at the time, when we got into a disagreement. I stormed out of our home, and went straight for the Learning Center. I had always had a very intense sense of duty, which I learned at a young age from my father. My parents tried to teach me how to deal with my Vulcan/Betazoid heritage; which, as you can imagine, caused many internal conflicts. I always had good grades, but not many friends. Duty always came first, no matter what the task was. My father was high in the Vulcan High Council, so I always felt I had much to live up to.”

T’Panu turned back around, appearing to stare off into space. “When I first told my parents I was leaving Vulcan to join Starfleet, for the life of them they couldn’t understand why. It had always been assumed that I would follow in my father’s footsteps. They had a preconceived idea that that was my goal, my plan. But they never asked me what I wanted. It was a rocky time between us all, but they eventually understood.”

T’Panu turned back around to face Maya again. As she did, she relaxed a little and leaned against the counter. She stared around for a minute, thinking about all she had seen in her years, all the people she had helped, how much she loved what she did.

“I have only recently begun to learn how to deal with my emotions, the things I’ve seen. Duty has always been a part of my life as if it’s hardwired into my DNA. My emotions have always taken a backseat as I’ve been so driven by duty and pride. I apologize for my behaviour as of late. I will strive to deal with my emotions better, and hope this begins to explain a little more about my heritage and the way I am.”

T’Panu examined Maya as she gave her final reply. “I truly appreciate your concern for my wellbeing. It’s nice knowing there are so many people here I can turn to. I apologize for my erratic, withdrawn behaviour. Maybe we can sit and have a Vulcan tea when things begin to settle.”

Maya had an unsettling habit of staring directly at the person she was conversing with.  Her large hazel eyes were wide open.  She believed this let the person she was speaking with know that she was giving them her undivided attention but in reality made her appear surprised.

"That would be welcome.  It has been quite some time since I was on Vulcan,” she admitted.  Although both her face and voice were perfectly calm and even, she held her body in a somewhat rigid pose with the fingers of each hand curled around the digits of the opposite appendage.  "I imagine that much has changed.  I too was… encouraged to enter my current occupation,” she continued carefully, "and I must confess to having fundamental disagreements with my mother,” she went on as her eyes narrowed at the recollection.  "But given the circumstances in which we find ourselves, I sometimes wonder if I was too hasty in dismissing her instructions.  Even so, when I left the home world I found the experience… liberating.  There were so many different peoples and cultures.  It was when I realized that out of all of these different civilizations there was, in theory, a place for anyone who found themselves at odds with the culture of their birth.  The cosmopolitan nature of Starfleet seemed like an efficient way to expose myself to individuals of various different cultures and travel the quadrant.  Like you, duty seems to be an overriding factor in my personal makeup.”

Maya’s eyes widened again as she allowed some of the stiffness to leave her body.  "But these are things we can discuss with our counselors.  I apologize for my somewhat unseemly outburst,” she added in a professional yet conversational tone, despite the fact that aside of her still and rigid posture, she had been completely calm and unflappable the entire time.  "As you can imagine, all of us aboard the Theurgy have been under quite an appreciable strain.  I suppose that transference was a factor in my diagnosis.”

Although Vulcans were known for being a private people, there was no point in keeping secrets from another Starfleet physician.  Access to medical records gave doctors and nurses all sorts of information that left very few surprises and an accurate picture of whom one was talking to.

"Speaking of counselors, we have a mutual acquaintance, Lieutenant Rhys Williams.  We attended Starfleet Academy together and shared a few classes at Starfleet Medical.  Has he been well?”

[ Dr T'Panu | Main Sickbay | Deck 11 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ]

T'Panu listened to what Maya had said, surprised she had a similar backstory. She often felt alone, as if she had to deal with everything herself. Never very open, always letting her sense of duty take over. It was as if she had never knew how to pay much attention to anything else.

"He has been! He had his hands full aboard the Cayuga after our fight with the Borg. I'm sure he was kept quite busy with the crews mental states."

T'Panu paused, unsure of how to continue. She had done a lot of that lately, when it came to speaking about anything to do with the Borg and their recent encounter.

"We have all been under great strain, as of late. And I imagine it won't be getting any easier anytime soon! It's been so long since I've taken leave I don't remember what anything looks like besides the inside of the ship's hull. It's been years since I took my last leave. I travelled to Risa last, which was so beautiful. I can already feel the warmth of the sun, the smell of the cool, ocean breeze, the calm of the meditation I was able to get there. Everything was so peaceful, and I long for us all to have that again."

T'Panu looked up at Maya again, as she realized she was still aboard the ship, still staring at the same hull that she had gotten so used to looking at.

"Truthfully, I haven't seen Lieutenant Williams since we came aboard the Theurgy. That's partially my fault, as I was also so busy avoiding him. I believe once this mess is over and we get a chance to breathe, I think I shall pay a counselor a visit. I think I could use someone to talk to after all of these years of bottling my problems."

T'Panu appreciated Maya's boldness, sharing her past and allowing T'Panu the opportunity to get to know her better. She knew what it took for a Vulcan to open themselves up to others, having been stuck in that culture for as long as she could remember. She hoped she had shared enough about herself so that Maya, and others, would be able to get to know her and understand what she had been through and where she came from.

[ Maya (https://uss-theurgy.com/w/index.php?title=Dr._Maya) | Main Sickbay | Deck 11 | Vector 02 | USS Theurgy ] Attn: @Juzzie, @lisavw @Nolan any character in sickbay.

When T'Panu had discussed her fears so openly it had taken Maya by surprise.  On the home world to actually express an emotion was considered profanity, if not a manifestation of mental illness.  Had Vulcan really changed so much in the two hundred and thirty two years since Maya had left?  Maya had assumed that the relatively long lifespan of her species would retard the evolution of her native culture, but evidentially had not counted on the effect that joining the United Federation of Planets would have on her home world.  Or had T’Panu found the strength to do what Maya never could and managed to completely rebuild her identity and expunge herself of all traces of her upbringing?

Since leaving Vulcan, Maya had always avoided other members of her species.  The home planet held no happy memories (as was fitting for a planet that claimed have freed itself from all emotion) and she had no wish for other Vulcans to silently judge what to their eyes was no doubt aberrant behavior.  Yet T’Panu had confessed her fears with no hesitation to another Vulcan as if there were regions on Vulcan where their brothers and sisters laughed and cried like Tellarites.  Maya had joined Starfleet attempting to find a planet in the Federation where she would belong.  Could it be that after two hundred and thirty two years that world was Vulcan?  As implausible as it seemed, there was a possibility that Maya, who had always considered herself as passionate and rebellious, could now be considered ‘unfeeling’ and ‘traditional’ if she returned home.  The irony was not lost on her.

In any case, this was an object lesson in judging from appearances.  It was unsettling for Maya to discover that her discerning eye and analytical nature wasn’t capable of diagnosing people from her own planet.  It was a factor in her decision to change the subject to their mutual acquaintance:  Lieutenant Rhys Williams.  When T’Panu admitted that she and been avoiding Lieutenant Williams, Maya’s interest was kindled.  As one who found it challenging to interact with others, Maya often exhibited a morbid interest in the interactions of others.

"You have been avoiding him?” she asked blankly as she tilted her head to the right.  "How curious.  Have you two been in a relationship?”

"You have been avoiding him? How curious.  Have you two been in a relationship?"

T'Panu was stopped in her tracks. She stuttered for a second, in shear shock of the question Maya had asked her. A relationship? Her?? It had been so long since she had even thought of anyone that way. She was flattered that she came off as someone who was approachable; kind, even? Or maybe Maya was simply curious?? Whatever the reason was, T'Panu was in shock of the Vulcan's straightforward comment.

"A relationship?" T'Panu had a slight bit of laughter in her voice, as she had assumed the Vulcan was joking. A rather human custom, but one she had bemused herself from time to time with her Bajoran side.

T'Panu realized she wasn't kidding. "We haven't been in a relationship. I must admit, I haven't had the time to even consider anything of the like. I never was much for relationships, even on Vulcan. Getting off of Vulcan took me many years to fully decide that it was what I wanted to do, and once I had the idea, I was unable to ignore it. My mind had always been opened to the concept and Vulcan didn't give me what I was looking for. My father never understood my wish to leave, but I hope he will someday understand enough to put it in the past. My mother always welcomed change, but she had a far more pragmatic understanding of everything around her."

T'Panu looked at Maya curiously, pondering where she was going with this.

"It's been quite some time since I've visited Vulcan, let alone gotten to know another Vulcan. Truth be told, I made it my life goal to try and forget where I came from for a while. A half Vulcan/half Bajoran, as you can imagine, wasn't always well accepted by any of my peers growing up. What do you say we continue this conversation over some tea? I'm feeling in use of some refreshments."
